As long as you are happy -- and you appear quite content to me ! --- Siem Reap is my pick for a retirement destination also - been searching the world for 3 years. My other choice is in the Philippines - a very similar type of choice. Both have very friendly locals and are welcoming to expats from the US like myself. Retirement visas are expensive compared to Cambodia. - - - I really do like Siem Reap a lot - and so do many other older expats. Younger digital nomads may get a bit bored and prefer the Capital. I'm old & frugal - so Siem Reap certainly suits me just fine !!! Everything needed is pretty much there. Highly specialized medical care may require a trip to Bangkok - for affordable quality care. ❤ 👍 🙏 ✌ 🍺

Nice apartment! You mentioned that it is $200/month. Is that on a 6 month contract? Also, would they have replaced the tv if you asked? Also curious how much would a Tuk Tuk to pub street be?
I have a 3 month lease but 6 months or a year is the norm. I’m not sure 🤔 I don’t think so they told me it was broken when I moved in. They have been great with other things. The washing machine needed repairs and it was done the next day. Also my hob stopped working so it’s been replaced with a one burner which is fine for me as I only need one. I normally walk to the downtown area Pub Street. Maybe 5-6 minutes in tuktuk?
It seems that the rental costs are always listed in USD. I am thinking that your bank account would be in Riel. Do you pay in USD or in Riel? Thanks in advance.
All property is listed in US dollars everything else you buy in shops and restaurants is listed in US dollars and Khmer riel. In bank accounts, you can either deposit money in US dollars or riel. When transferring from a foreign bank, it’s easier to transfer into dollars. I then use my Revolut card to take riel out of the cash point machine and deposit into my account. So I have access to both currencies.

If you ever do a direct transfer please let me know [I would also be interested in the fees / costs applied by the Cambodian Bank / ABA as I can find-out the fees, if any, applied by Lloyds / Halifax here in the UK]. Thanks for getting back to me with the info, [as] the nuts and bolts of traveling / the practicalities living in new places do interest viewers [as if you are not clued-up one way or another you pay for it - as I am sure you know].
@@nanwithabackpack Getting my head around the Wise Card swervo now, Wayne [who is a well-old-skool SEAsia trooper] has Wise as his 2nd most important App out of 12 important [needed Apps - He is in Chiang Mai]; - So he's got it all sussed, and if you listen to his logic [1.30 mins into the video] he gives his take on what he does by drip-feeding his money [as and when needed] into his local Thai Bank [having already placed *ALL* "the larger amount of money" he has transferred from his UK Bank into Wise Card account] - Link:- th-cam.com/video/jsTTSrH0I8c/w-d-xo.html

@nanwithabackpack thank you I just would like to speak to them on how to get my dogs over when I ask online I get sarcastic remarks it's very frustrating they are my babies and not bringing them is not an option when we retire xx
@ my friends Tony and Kendal I believe they brought there dogs over from USA they have a you tube channel called The Narrow gate. They moved from USA to Thailand 🇹🇭 they have a ton of answers about different things on their channel. If you don’t have any luck I will as for you or try to put you in touch with them just give me a few days. ☺️

Cambodia is one of the few countries in the world that doesn’t have one McDonald’s. I’m sure that will change in a few years. Or sooner.
Yes after I filmed this I walked down to check, and got a photo. I knew it was one or the other and for the life of me couldn’t remember!!!! Think 🤔 it’s my age 🤣🤣🤣
hi we are hoping to retire in siem reap how do you find it as a place to settle ?
After two years of travel, it’s the first place that I have stopped for this amount of time. The Visa process with Camsmile services is very easy. The Khmer people are so kind so welcoming so friendly. Right now there is nowhere else I would rather be. 🇰🇭🥰
