    Two of my favorite TH-camrs even though I am whatever the opposite of a fashionista is. I seldom buy clothes, and have a small wardrobe, but I like quality.

    Driving shoes are great and while they don't make sense for the average person, if you're a driving enthusiast it can really improve the experience. Thinner soles mean better pedal feel, the rolled up heel gives a more comfortable fulcrum where your heel rests, the narrow upper makes heel-toe downshifting precise, and the low cut design means your feet aren't going to get too hot.
    I think they're a must-have for any serious driver and shoe guy.

      Thanks, there's a lot of options out there. How old is your son and what kind of cars/driving is he into?

      @@TestarossaMusicista He’s turning 22 in a few weeks so I want to gift him a shoe he can drive in when he travels over the weekends sometimes between 150-650 km. He drives a Volvo V90 to have room in the back for instruments. So not really racing but he loves watching F1 always has since he was 2 his favourite driver is still Alonso but he likes Leclerc too.

      @@Bobby-ei7xp if he's 22, id shy away from the driving loafers described in this video. Unless that's his style already.
      I think a better fit would be Puma Speedcats or Future Cats. They're a much better pure driving shoe. Plus, there are F1 collaborations with AMG-Petronas and Ferrari amongst other motorsports brands.
      If you think he might want something more sneaker-like. The Onitsuka Tigers are a great choice also.

      @@TestarossaMusicista It is his style already so I think I’m going for a bit cheaper option regarding that style and perhaps pick up the Ralph Lauren driving moccasin they aren’t as expensive as Tod’s or CAR Shoes the Ralph Lauren are about $140. I think I will also buy a Puma Ferrari just don’t know exactly which one which model because I want it to be comfortable for him. I’m going to checkout those Onitsuka Tiger ones you mention.
      Thanks alot for responding and helping out.

    Perfect for suburban living where driving is longer than walking! For women, also saves the heels of expensive shoes or other favorites.

    Thanks gents! Two of my shoe and style guru favorites! I have begun to amass a fairly substantial shoe and boot collection (for a regular person ;-)) but I do not yet own a pair of drivers and this category has been on my radar. When I return to the office, I have a 1 hour rt daily commute and I do not like beating up the heels of my nice shoes, so thinking about wearing drivers for...the drive.

    Hi Nick. I love wearing driving mocs/ loafers so this was a great video. On thing that Jon failed to mention however and it was kind of evident on the Paul Evans is that the leather on the toe always gets scuffed up and eventually will wear a hole in the leather. The same thing with the outside edges of the heels. I know. I've had it happen. BTW I like Jon's new look with the beard and the longer wavy hair. I hope he keeps it.

    I love Bobbies. The number of options they have to leathers is impressive. They do have European sizing which takes getting used to. And the shipping is steep at $15 but they shipped from Paris to Texas in 2 days!

    I've never understood the concept of special shoes for vehicles.
    I did a recreational ride on the bicycle yesterday. My shoes were Allen Edmonds semi-brogues.
    I don't think I could justify the cost of shoes you use for just one thing.

    • @chuiechuie
      @chuiechuie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably why you don't see it much. I'm guessing it's more common in Europe and enthusiast drivers.
      But it would've been a lot more popular (and cheaper) back when more people were into racing half a century ago.

    • @Stridewise
      @Stridewise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's more common for a) people who drive more than they walk and b) people with money to burn

    Thank you Jon! Your channel is fantastic and i love your videos and advice. Thank you for clarifying what drivers are not to be used for. I have seen some nice looking drivers but not bought them because I would not be using them for their intended use. Thank you Nick for bringing in others to share their expertise with us.

    Very good content. Thank you, gentlemen.
    I went through a phase where I bought quite a few drivers for the exact reason of “easy” fit and light weight. I am guilty of wearing them to the office without socks and clearly recall it feeling like I have slippers on. Good to know I was one of quite a few who “bastardized” the look and functionality of these shoes haha 😆

    Completely dis-agree with not being able to use certain higher quality drivers in the office , especially in hot weather climates , like outside of NYC . They look great with a summer slick summer outfits, of course not in important meetings , but for every day hot weather wear ....please all fkn day

      yeah you know they can definitely look like nice loafers, I think the issue is more that the soles aren't that durable/resoleable so you don't WANT to wear them out too much. but up to you!
