How do you know if an atom is stable? In this video we are going to learn about radioactive decay and that unstable nuclei either have too many protons or too many neutrons, which upsets the strong nuclear forces holding the atom together. Unstable nuclei try to balance themselves by giving off the excess proton or neutron either through alpha, beta minus or beta plus decay.

Its the most easiest ,understandable ,authentic and genuine video that explains radioactivity in just 5 mins!! Not only this I just love the channel! Just a video brushes u with the complete concept ! I often use them before class to get an extra edge and if u are having trouble with revision, voila! Just a video from this channel and u have revised the entire concept!
Such a wide topic is covered in such a small time! Its just short crisp and precise!! Thank u fuseschool !! You have been a great great help!!

Good explanation of the basics, radioactivity is a weight-adjusting phenomenon for the nucleus. In really large nucleii, i.e. above atomic number Z=90 (thorium) another decay method, fission, can happen spontaneously but it is very slow compared to the other decay modes.
