    HZD's idea of big corporations that can forcefully punish those who speak against them frightens me.

    • @originalph00tbag
      @originalph00tbag 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      What frightens me is how close the US is to that reality. Schott v Frost is really not far removed from Citizens United v FEC. In the grand scheme of things, it's a tiny ideological shift.

    • @Kintaro0e
      @Kintaro0e 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@originalph00tbag It's more related to how social media companies can censor, ban, and remove people from their site for breaking their vague terms of services. This even applies if you said or did something offline such as you attend some protest or express an opinion that the social media company is against etc.
      What's really frightening is when you have pay/cash apps and even online payment processors banning people from being able to purchase/sell or transfer/receive money online. This sets a horrible precedent where corporations will be able to decide who can buy or sell.
      Without any type of Internet Bill of Rights corporations can use the online space to bypass the rights of the people--almost in a loophole fashion by utilizing their terms of service to do so.

      @@Kintaro0e I'm more speaking in a more general sense that both Schott v Frost and Citizens United grant not only a previously non-existent right to corporations that individuals cannot even hope to exercise, but almost king-like powers to shape policy and discourse. They grant different rights, but they are no less chilling to a suitably critical public discussion surrounding the consolidation of capital.

    • @Kintaro0e
      @Kintaro0e 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@originalph00tbag I understood what you meant and the granting of corporations that sort of right is highly detrimental to society.
      My comment was more towards highlighting the OP's comment (corporations punishing people offline) and the actual video discussion of do people have 1st amendment rights online. All of which is actually happening in present day.

    • @originalph00tbag
      @originalph00tbag 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kintaro0e That's fair. I wasn't trying to detract from the OP's point, though, rather expand on it.

    That New Orleans Ghost Tour sounds like a Disneyland reference. The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland, located in New Orleans Square, regularly breaks down in high capacity park hours.

    Love your stuff, dawg! My dream HZD video would be about how HZD is a cautionary tale for the modern world, and all the believable real-life parallels (climate change, over-population, over-reliance on automated tech, etc.), but that seems like waaaay too massive an undertaking. The game just has so much depth, it's insane, but I love those moments when HZDs portrayal of their past/our future just gets way too real.

    I can see we are going in the same direction with the VR advances...but I won’t change the real deal for something virtual. But I have to say that the diner part with the kids on the table... I would definitely give it a try.
    Nice video as always and I hope you have a great weekend!

    Gotta agree with Eddie Westlake. Early 2000s pop music is totes jaunty.
    Learning about potential VR is so cool. HZD really shouts out the possibilities of which ways tech is going, from nanotech, a.i, automatons, environmental tech, etc. Some for the better... others for the worst :'D

    Do you think we will have to track down the subordinate functions and reboot Gaia in a different location
    (Probably ted faro bunker?(
    Which will lead to us tracking down Sylens and going to the forbidden west maybe even give us a prequel to the glitch that caused the Faro Plague and of course learning of hades masters?
    And also could do a video on how Hephaestus learned to speak as Sylens said that hades was unable to until Sylens began tinkering. With it?

    I love Horizon's predictions of the future. They almost act like warnings. Many of these things are amazing but, we need to be careful with were we take our technology.
    It's almost unsettling thinking about it.

    Thanks for another great video. I have about 180 hours in, but still haven’t found all the data points. This video has shed new light on the idea of traveling during the time of ‘The Old Ones’. I found some of them but not the ‘Eddie’ one, it put a lot things into perspective. Thanks again.

    It's funny gaia's message is in a holo room projector but needs a focus to be viewed. Maybe it acts as a remote to activate, was there a hand print screen in that room?

    • @raevynphiar9581
      @raevynphiar9581 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought that it was specifically just scanning it with her focus. The same thing is in the ruins of Gaia Prime to activate the Elsabet Sobeck memorial and in other non-cutscene holo projections.

    Do you think the inclusion of VR of game could be possibly an Easter egg saying the developers eventually want to do something with VR.

    There is something that’s been bugging me about Gaia’s plead. “Its immediate effect was to transform my Subordinate Functions into unregulated, self-aware entities of a highly chaotic nature” when Elisabet did her presentation she said the Subordinate Functions were not true A.I. Then how can they truly be self-aware? What could have been this signal that can do this.

    • @NcxX-c8f
      @NcxX-c8f 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That depends on what a "true" AI is. Based on what we know about GAIA and CYAN (Elisabet was a huge influence on CYAN's creation), Elisabet's definition of AI is not the AI of modern times, but an AI that possesses logical, psuedo-emotional, and complex reasoning. An AI that not only does what it is programmed to do, but understands what they are programmed to do and why they are programmed to do it.
      HADES and HEPHAESTUS show no forms of emotional reasoning, and have a superficial, if any, understanding of their purpose. What we see, as GAIA predicted, is the terraforming system continuing to operate, but on an increasingly erratic level. They are aware of their purpose but display no signs of deeper understanding.
