    Im a long way behind. slowly making my way through your lap.
    My girlfriend and I did the exact route you are on right now, back in February this year. From Murray Bridge, down to the south coast, all the way to home in Melbourne. But We werent in our 4wd on this trip, rather in a classic car that we definitely couldn't go near the sand in. Watching all the beach driving, and hidden gems off the highway is the reason we are planning to go back in our LR Discovery camping rig.
    Im really enjoying all your videos so far even though im a year behind, love the drone work, as I'm a small time drone pilot just breaking into the industry. keep it up guys

    We are currently in Robe and then I remember this ep of yours so went back and rewatch it. We did the same thing you guys did, beach drive, saw the Lighthouse and we stayed there too.

    Hey Matt & Holly, love the video and seeing where you guys are going. Whilst your down in SA, strongly suggest u stop in at McLaren Vale. Make sure you check out these wineries there if you want some great reds. MollyDooka, Battle of Bosworth, Fox Creek and Woodstock (awesome wood fire pizzas and acoustic sets on Fridays). Fleurieu distillery at Goolwa is awesome too

    • @OverlandTravellers
      @OverlandTravellers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      karlos7984 the mclaren vale was very high on the to do list and we should have a video out in 2-3 weeks about it :) it was so good, only problem was we didn’t even scratch the surface of the winery’s there is to go to.

    Bloody great trip guys!!! I have the exact same hilux except my canopy in the back is a lot bigger and not loaded yet. It's interesting to see how the old lux performs in soft sand with the extra weight in the back.
    I have some questions for the next Q&A haha:
    What's the suspension upgrade you got, and tires?
    Why is the roof top tent's base moving up & down so much from the roof rack?? Am I seeing things or is it not attached tight enough?
    What's the longest 4x4 stretch of track do you expect to complete over the trip?
    Good luck with the rest of the trip!! keep up with the positive spirit ;)

    • @OverlandTravellers
      @OverlandTravellers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pti'Louis they’re awesome little utes mate, is yours NA as well? Yeah we had it going over sand dunes the other day no trouble at all.... in the flinders I had it up a really steep shale hill with the weight on the back and it didn’t slip once. It’s defiantly a lot better off road than I am haha. The suspension was the best thing I did, a 2 inch lift with larger leaf springs for a better constant load and new 4x4 shocks all from dobinsons, if you’re loading the back up like I have I’d definitely get it done, the stock shocks just aren’t up to it and the technology in the new socks is so much better. Yeah good question with how the tent is mounted, it’s a bit hard to explain but I really should have got 4 ladder racks and not 3, the rails on the tent don’t go the full 2100mm length of the tent, so I could only screw it to 2, ether middle and back or middle and front... I chose to do the back rather than the front, my logic was the ute bounced less in the middle rather than at the back, if it wasn’t bolted at the back it would really fly around and probably screw the tent. It’s not ideal but it seems to be ok so far, but I I’ve got a few weeks in Perth to maybe find a fix to secure it fully.... but I check the bolts every day before I set off and they haven’t moved at all. Well we have done a few tracks that have taken a few hours, as in proper 4WD tracks, but we’ve done the Oodnadatta Track and back which was 1200km of dirt in 6 days with another 1800km on road. But I haven’t done anything too extreme or remote, as I don’t have a winch.... but next week I’ve got a mate doing a tag along in a hire land cruiser, so with two cars we’re keen to get to some tricker places :) cheers mate glad you’re liking the vids!

      Pti'Louis also the tires are Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3’s, they are unreal. Best tires I’ve had, they are wearing incredibly well and love being a lower pressures even with the weight on the back. Haven’t had one flat yet but I haven’t been babying them either. I’d definitely recommend them.

      @@OverlandTravellers I assume NA means non turbo? Mine is the 1998 LN172 non turbo 5L engine, extra cab. I did the climb up from the Yeagarup beach to road track, in WA... the canopy was not nearly as heavy yours might be and I struggled hard. It's very steep and the sand is unbelievably soft.
      I had to go down to 8 PSI all around to make it...
      I can't wait to see more off road footage with the cruiser too.
      I'm sure you'll find somewhere in perth to help with the roof tent, there are quite a few 4x4 shops around the city.
      Good luck for the rest of your travels!

    When are you going to replace that windscreen, it's so annoying

    • @OverlandTravellers
      @OverlandTravellers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Ian Lorimer apparently one bloke mentioned a crowd fund to replace it. But I’m at the stage where I’ve learnt to love it.... the windscreen is also 1000x less annoying than my vibrating snorkel. Also if anyone asks the window cracked yesterday.

    Hello Matt and holly, we enjoy watching your videos. Your vlogs are great! The hilux bush driving reminds me of a swb cruiser 1982 model we used to drive around in the Bush. Just wondering what type of drone you use to get that good footage and if you recommend it?

    • @OverlandTravellers
      @OverlandTravellers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike, we use a DJI Mavic Pro and would defiently recommend it. We havent had any issues so far. There are newer models out so if we were to replace it we would look at getting on of these

    not sure if anyone has said anything in the comments, the ll in paella is pronounced like a 'y' not a 'j', so it sounds like 'pa-e-ya' (all short vowel sounds the same as in latin (English))
