These are the real hard men/women in the world. Not the people who go to the gym, work out for 6 hours a day and build muscle, anyone can build muscle. But not everyone can climb mountains like these people did. Much respect!
John Tasker 1982,What a great guy came to are school in the 70's,to stand in for a sick teacher, brought in some climbing gear, slide,s and 8mm film,he took us out with is 8mm camara filming in Mosside Manchester and played it back to us at a later date.R.I.P. To you Mr Tasker and all who have perished doing what they loved best.
There are many Sherpas who lost their lives on these mountains. Sad that whenever the term mountaineer is mentioned they are never included in that list
12dance4u1 You're not a climber right? I know understanding why a man is willing to die just to get to the summit is something most people think it's stupid... But it's not just getting to the summit, it's living the experience of a lifetime, it's discovering yourself in every step. For me these mountaineers where heroes, maybe for you they aren't but for most of the mountaineer world, they were heroes.
+12dance4u1 tbh if I were to die tomorrow, I would want to die upon that mountain with peace and harmony an a once in a life time view. not down below where people rage war over money and religion.
From my personal opinion I agree to you. Climbers do their hobby for fun, self-affirmation, earn money, ... If one can see it as heroism depends on the definition of 'heroes'.In dieffernet cultures and times you find different definitions. Frequently I found: A person doing an extraordinary performance , what is not commonplace. So the top of climbers would be heroes - included all top sportsmen even a chess-player. But I refuse to accept it for these cases. Yes - in their personal interest they have done extraordinary performance - not more.
@@12dance4u1 true, a hero is someone who saves lives of others at the peril of his own. The meaning of heroism has be so diluted lately that *even* someone who survives a big accident of some sort(plane crash) is considered a hero, which is dumb.
Great video - thanks for warehousing these deaths. Will lead to further research on my part. I'm haunted by the images. They look so strong and healthy - until their passion took their lives! The mountain has no mercy!!
Would it have been so terrible to throw a bone to all of the sherpahs, without whom so many of these heroes would have never made it off the ground? You know, just a blanket thank you, some kind of acknowledgement of their lives and contributions and sacrifice? Just a thought.
Sir, please, at 3:33 the guy on the left side is Mr. Rodrigo Rainieri, a famous Brazilian high altitude climber. In this photo he´s reaching the summit of Aconcagua during the Patagonia's winter seasson. He is in good shape and clibing high altitude peaks in nowadays. Negrete, his friend, was the first brazilian climber to reach Everest´s summit without additional O2 and without sherpa high altitude climbers and died of frostbites in 2006 durring descent.
3:30 2006 Vitor Negrete and David Sharp. That's not Negrete in the left picture but another Brazilian climber Rodrigo Raineri , a close pal to Negrete, who is still alive and is the only Brazilian to summit Everest three times. In the image below you can see Negrete beside Raineri. www.webventure.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/foto_49607_2007-12-13_grande.jpg

I think it is an addiction like any other. But I love them; going out on a limb (physically or metaphorically!) doesn't half teach you some things about yourself you would never otherwise have learned. Oh and I love this music.
