PS3 is amazing nowadays, they redeemed if halfway through and PS4 was pretty good for the most of it But now Playstation is dead, Xbox is just a PC for people that can't afford a good PC or really like consoles(everything from Xbox is on PC alongside everything else) and Nintendo is the only console company that still cares about its fans besides some questionable business decisions, but Nintendo is also more niched.

As a kid I got really confused by "PS3 has no games" memes. Now I its more clear to me than ever, it was always about the exclusives, the things that you buy a plastic brick for in the first place.
I like how back in the day often PC was compared unfavourably to consoles in terms of exclusive titles and nowadays its easier to play older gen games through emulation on PC than to find real deal
PS3 had a ton of games, never heard that in my life, compared to the PS1 and PS2 definitely not as many exclusives. But Uncharted, MGS4, Killzone 3, Resistance 2, the plethora of JRPGs, which is funny because now a days most of the Japanese devs still port to PS4 (PS5 still got no games)

@ I just don’t see why exclusives are a meaningful metric. I bought a box that plays games to skip the hassle of a pc setup. I care how many games the box plays, not how many games *only* play on the box. I might care if a different box at a similar price point offers some specific options and that might influence me getting one box and not the other, but the only reason I’m considering either box is because they both play a sufficiently large number of games I am interested in to justify the purchase. Exclusives are a minor value add, not a measure of the value of the product as a whole. Which is evidenced by the fact they’ve sold so damn many despite not having that many exclusives. People don’t actually care that much about them.

Allegedly, Firewalk had a budget of 200 mil in their own & investors’ money. They blew it all by early 2023, with Concord barely in alpha. Then Sony bought them & had to spend 200 mil more outsourcing to rush development for an on-time release. This isn’t even counting marketing, which between the commissioned cartoon episode and the themed controllers, was obviously, ridiculously overindulged in. What really needs to be asked is what was Herman Hulst slipped to convince him this would be an OT Star Wars-tier phenomenon.
Also R-Type Final 3 is just a minor amount of exclusive extra content for Final 2, which is available on other platforms, not an actual different game. It's weird like that. So PS5 has even LESS games than it looks like here!

They enjoyed a very good bout of popularity when new wave had its audience in the late 70s and 80s, and many bring them up as a notable example of new wave. Also: I think not many people know that the creator of gravity daze is the same guy who created silent hill and siren!!! That blew my mind! Gravity daze 2 was such a good step up and one of the best games on ps4 sorely underrated. My only complaint was the awful stealth mechanics and lack of improvement in fighting gameplay but everything else was a great step up!

@ I just don’t see why exclusives are a meaningful metric. I bought a box that plays games to skip the hassle of a pc setup. I care how many games the box plays, not how many games *only* play on the box. I might care if a different box at a similar price point offers some specific options and that might influence me getting one box and not the other, but the only reason I’m considering either box is because they both play a sufficiently large number of games I am interested in to justify the purchase. Exclusives are a minor value add, not a measure of the value of the product as a whole. Which is evidenced by the fact they’ve sold so damn many despite not having that many exclusives. People don’t actually care that much about them.

Allegedly, Firewalk had a budget of 200 mil in their own & investors’ money. They blew it all by early 2023, with Concord barely in alpha. Then Sony bought them & had to spend 200 mil more outsourcing to rush development for an on-time release. This isn’t even counting marketing, which between the commissioned cartoon episode and the themed controllers, was obviously, ridiculously overindulged in. What really needs to be asked is what was Herman Hulst slipped to convince him this would be an OT Star Wars-tier phenomenon.

They enjoyed a very good bout of popularity when new wave had its audience in the late 70s and 80s, and many bring them up as a notable example of new wave. If anything, I consider Devo to be way more underrated compared to Talking Heads and The B-52s. They're more than just "Whip It", you know.

@@guotyr2502 I'm PC gang but it's very objective. Keyboard and mouse is usable for basically anything, but not optimal. Anything analog isn't very intuitive on controls, like fighting games, racing games, certain puzzle games.
@@queuedjar4578 at most you can argue for racing, but if youreally care for input in racing games you buy a wheel, fighting games pros use pads that are basically keyboards , as for puzzles I really don't know of any that wouldn't work better with a mouse
