    the 515 is much larger than the p255. it also weighs 10 pounds more, which might not seem like a lot, but it is when you're gigging. 38 pounds (p255) was sort of manageable, but 48 pounds just sucks for gigging

    • @dcool2u2

      I agree. I'm looking for an 88 key portable. I'm now using a only 64 key Roland RD-64 because I wanted a weighted key piano but not the heaviness of an 88 key.
      It's about 30 lbs and is already on the heavy side. I can't imagine carrying around a keyboard that is 20lbs heavier.
      So I'm looking at Roland RD-88. Granted the piano sounds are better on this Yamaha but the RD-88 is also about 30lbs same as my RD-64.

    Hi Chris, thank you for the video and the information provided. Planning on a new Digital Piano, portable (most important), shall I go for the DGX-660 or the P-515. Would I be losing many features if I opt for the P-515? Thank you, appreciate the advice.

      Hi, what choice did you go fro because I am dealing with the same predicament. I feel like the DGX-660 is quite old but I still fee that it has more features. Which one did you end up buying?

    • @flarfschnikelman6780
      @flarfschnikelman6780 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on your preference. The p-515 has over 500 different sounds which can be layered and split. The DGX obviously has more features, but the P-515 is for the one who wants it to be most like a real piano. The P-515 is higher quality, because it’s more expensive, and has plenty of features.

      We often debate whether to use a direct out or not here. We usually decide against it because we want to give some representation of the speaker performance, particularly as most people will play the pianos without using headphones. Ideally we would do both but we are often really pressed for time. However we are shortly to move to a new set-up involving a dedicated recording suite so we intend to do both in future videos. We welcome your suggestions (and everyone reading this) of ways we can keep improving our videos so please keep them coming!

    I used to think I wanted a Baldwin sound as I heard Bill Evans say he preferred them. I really like his sound. But it's how it's mixed that gave Bill that tone, not the Baldwin. That quiet mellow warmth. Another unrelated thought is I always dug the organ sound of Walter Wanderly. It's said he played a B-3, but I have never heard a B-3 sound like him, nor any modeled organ sound on a keyboard or software.

    Hi there. I'm interested in either this or the CLP 645. Once you add the stand and pedal to the 515 the price difference in the UK is a few hundred pounds. Do you think the extra is worth it for the better speakers in the 645 (the piano would be at home and mainly used just for piano, not really interested in other sounds)? Is the 515 much 'sleeker' in the home than the 645? (I don't really care for the console piano as a 'piece of furniture'!)

    Good brief overview of a very nice upgrade to the p255. Question is,does this board utilize a tri- sensor feature found in the Clp 600 series? Now if Roland and Kawai bump up their plastic keys to wooden ones in this price range(Fp90 and Es8) that would be great! Maybe that's wishful thinking on my part.

    Some reviews have told the action is really heavy, one of the heaviest on any digital piano and even heavier than on a real acoustic piano. I haven't played many different types of pianos so I can't really compare myself, so would like to hear some opinions about that. Is it so heavy that it's even hard to play some kind of music on it?

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have to take into account that not all acoustic pianos have the same action and touch. Some are lighter than others. The Yamaha digital pianos like this one are designed to replicate, rather unsurprisingly, a Yamaha CFX concert grand piano. Not many people are too familiar with grand piano actions and can feel that they're quite heavy. But the P515 has a nice even action which I haven't heard anyone describe as too heavy. Hope that helps.
