She looked too old to me to be an ingenue. That's a problem with a lot of singers In operas in America it keeps a lot of potential audience members away. To be fair though I have to say imho she sang the role just fine 😊 many Bravos from me !

I'm no expert. I only started to listen to puccini and verdi because my classical guitar teacher said it would be good for my legato and for ear training.. I guess it's just as difficult to find a youngish Violetta or a Mimi who has the vocal power and experience to tackle those roles . Am I right?
Opera singers are late bloomers. Your voice stops growing when you’re 21. (At least for females). Which means if you want to sing opera you have to start practicing the hard pieces when you’re that age. If you do it before that you can damage your vocal cords. I am 16 years old an I told my singing teacher, who is an opera singer, that I wanted to sing opera. And she said that it’s best to wait a few years. So I sing the arias for young singers now. ( but there are not a lot of them ). That’s why they don’t use women in there twenties that often, because when you are in your 30’s and early 40’s you are in your prime as opera singer.
