Wow! I think she is very attractive for CARMEN though I have not gotten to hear the singing yet. I also sing this role and love listening to different interpretations.

Is this a different version? Act 4 concludes different as in the original libretto Carmen dies after being stabbed by Don José.

haha, i shit on an opera classic, bro it's not like this is rice gum or youtube rewind, those are truly awful, I don't love opera but I can still appreciate it, it has stood the test of time far better than fuggin FKJ will. Also judging by ur playlist it seems like you like carmen so you're being really confusing.

The actress from this version is not pretty enough to be Carmen in my opinion, I just don't see Carmen like this.

jfjsas07 In opera it shouldn't be about how the singer looks, it's should be about the quality of their voice and technique. If we put too much focus on how the singers look and cast them based on that, then we would have mediocre voices being cast due to their "fitting looks". The quality of opera would diminish vastly.

The opera is a synergy of theater and music, thereby it does matter ex definitione how the actors look. Otherwise we could just take a 70-year-old woman, with a magnificent soprano voice and pretend that she is Carmen from the Bizet's work, but that wouldn't coalesce too much, would it? Some compromise between the look and the voice should be accomplished, even if it's not easy.

jfjsas07 I agree with you to a certain extent. If you look at Joan Sutherland, she sang the role of Gilda in Rigoletto in her sixties. She was still able to portray the youthfulness of a 16 year old through her technique and musicality, making her performance convincing.
This lady singing Carmen is neither 70 nor unable to properly embody the character. I'll admit she may not have the most fabulous voice in the world, but it still is technically strong and trained. Just because she doesn't fit the ideal image of Carmen does not mean she should be dismissed.
