One of the things I love the most about Honeylemon's fighting style is that she isn't just pressing random buttons on that purse of hers. In the comics, Hiro doesn't have a brother, instead he had a father who died and Hiro created Baymax to fill the void as well as implanting his father's memories and emotions. Which leads to a theory of mine where in the film Tadashi used his brainwaves instead to create Baymax's A.I. or something like that.
A note about dead parents, yes Walt’s parents did die and that’s the reason why he kills off the parents, but it’s also incredibly common in stories involving children because having responsible adults in the average story will heavily restrict the child protagonist’s movements. Parents are annoying for a writer because you will have to contend with the parents’ rules, about them punishing the child for their many rule breaking actions, and about possibly hiding secrets from them. It’s easier for the story if they’re unavailable or not present, so they’re usually dead since it’s the easiest way to explain why they’d be gone the whole time.

So I didn't see anyone else point this out in the comments, so I'm saying it here; if you look at the reflection in Hiro's eyes during the scene where Baymax sacrifices himself, the reflection isn't Baymax, it's Tadashi. Hiro is reliving Tadashi's death all over again with Baymax. Your welcome for the extra tears. :D

I really like Baymax's character. Aside from the obvious reasons, I think he is the most accurate robot character to be portrayed in film. Most storywriters will make an advanced robot by either taking a machine and adding a few quirks (Johnny 5, Chappie) or taking a human and removing a few traits (Data, K-2SO). Baymax manages to endear us despite being completely emotionless and logical. He's only capable of what his programming permits, doesn't dwell on past or future, and takes everything at face value. That he manages to make all of us love him is a sign of some damn good character writing.
one thing i thought about was the fact that baymax mustve taken his healthcare chip out at some point near the end, so when hes saying his "last goodbye" to hiro and hugging him, it was genuine. His programming wasnt doing that, which makes me wonder if when baymax says "tadashi is here" throughout the movie, he wasnt just talking about the video he showed. So maybe the moral of the story for hiro at least is that loved ones are always with you, even if not physically. Im probably wrong but its a nice thought :)

You're mostly right. The house didn't blow up though. Right after Snow White became a huge success, he bought his parents a house in North Hollywood. Less than a month after moving in, his mother complained of a weird smell coming from the furnace, and it turns out it was a gas leak. Walt sent repairmen to fix it, but apparently they were unsuccessful, and the next day they were found unconscious by the housekeeper. His father recovered but his mother didn't. Walt felt responsible for her death.

It became one of my immediate favourite Disney films and despite it not being perfect, I hold it dear in my heart. It treats grief as an actual illness and not just something you can "get over". It helped me at my lowest.

Marvel did make a short series introducing Big Hero 6 in the late 90's, however, asides from the names of the characters, there is pretty much zero similarities between the original and this much superior version.

I've had an experience in the losing a sibling department, it really does stay with you Anyway, funnily enough This movie IS actually a level/world in Kingdom Hearts 3 So, good guess man 👍🏼
19:08 the music in that scene is called Silent Sparrow in the score. It starts about halfway through the song at the 2:40 mark. I've listened to it a lot and it's one of the most emotional pieces of music I've ever heard to this day..
This movie can probably trace back subconsciously to why I love Marvel so much today. It's because those same lessons of family and self discovery taught in Disney are also featured in Superhero characters in Marvel, so that it's not all quirky action sequences and unlayered plot. Stan himself loved Disney, so I can see why his comics will have a bit of a sentimental Disney flare to it. Also because of the fantasy element to Marvel. That's also why I love it.
I mean, the story is loosely based off of a comic book series (which is wildly different) so if you just replaced 'comic book' with 'novel' it's exactly what Disney have done for several decades. It's not the first time though they made a film with another IP, Who Framed Roger Rabbit had Disney characters with Warner Bros and Paramount characters, though at this point Disney had acquired Marvel so it was all under their banner anyway.
Also, I think one of the biggest reasons that so many of Disney’s movies include losing parents is that so many of them are about growing up and coming of age. And losing parents and the people that are supposed to take care of you is a scary yet unavoidable part of that. ❤️ Something we all have to go through at some point.
I could never get that invested in Hiro leaving Baymax in the other dimension because if they were in a zero G environment they both could've gotten through the portal by just turning their backs to it and firing the fist rocket the exact opposite direction of where they wanted to go. Since Hiro is such a gifted engineer, with a knowledge of physics, he should of thought of that option right off the bat.
17:38 it's basically my reaction every single time that I watch this movie now. "Quarantine. Yeah, I know what that means. I don't wanna hear that word again."
3:23 Walt Disney had parents but during the production of Snow White he moved his parents into a nice place so they could be closer but his mother died due to the house having some sort of ventilation issue (? Correct me if I am wrong) and he blamed himself for her death, hence why usually characters don't have parents or just one parent
I didn't expect to get set off by this one. I haven't seen it since it first came out. I did lose my sister in 2016. She was 25. And when you said one day can change your whole life, you were completely right.

The headphone warning did not warn me 😭😂 not only did it scare the mess out of me, I also began laughing hysterically at whatever sound came out of your mouth.
Rewatching this movie just makes me sad. My grandparents both passed away within 10 days of each other last September when school just started 😭😭😭 and now I can’t stop thinking of how whenever a death happens on screen of a loved one and a major theme is grief, all I can think of is my dad and his brother who don’t have parents anymore. And how the world just feels greyer without them, as if there’s something fundamentally wrong with the world now that they’re not in it anymore
You missed the very, very end...in the credits! Always watch a Marvel, or Marvel based, movie all the way. There is a clip of Fred, back at home and his Daddy comes in, (the character played by Stan Lee). You need to go back and watch. Love your reviews! **Side note: Big Hero 6 and How to Train Your Dragon 2 were both up for Best Animated Feature Award, in 2015. Big Hero 6 won. I love them both...but, the "How to Train Your Dragon series" is my all time favorite.
No Baymax yet, but the Japanese invented an adorable robot named Osimo, they hope to one day have robotic nurses to take care of an aging population because many people in Japan are opting not to have kids.
you know, Tadashi's drive thing is actually featured in an Iron Man movie. People assume he was somehow involved with Tony Stark and the Big Hero 6 team might actually appear in future marvel movies.
The score of this movie is so good as well, like the choices of music slaps. Fall out boy sing imortals for this soundtrack and its honestly one of my favourite 'hero montages'
I love this movie! It’s my mom’s favorite too. I got her a shirt for her birthday with Baymax on it. I like the idea of Japanese style on American style; it’s like if Japan never stopped after WWII. And I love Japanese culture a lot. Continue to love your reactions. It’s nice to see a guy that appreciates Disney and is cool with being sensitive.
This movie is a good example of good example of never giving up and still try. One other series that shows another side of never giving up and keep fighting that it becomes super dark and messed up is Attack on titan.
Oh my soul Welchy that coughing fit scared the living jeebuz out of me 😂 And just FYI, in true Marvel fashion there was an end credits scene that you missed. You should check it out and I'd live to see your reaction to it.
The orphan is such a common trope in children’s and young adult stories it’s a cliche’. Not just Disney. Look at books like Harry Potter, orphans sell. Like the other comment or said, parental figures get in the way of kids doing outrageous or dangerous things.
So the song you were hearing was from the suit up montage was Fall Out Boys’ Immortals. A great song! Also, living for the review! And I feel you on hay fever. Edit: Also, if you wanna hear more of the soundtrack it’s on TH-cam and on Apple Music if you look up “Big Hero 6 Soundtrack”
Ngl, when they showed that Professor Callaghan was still alive, my dumbass believed in some small glimmer of hope that Tadashi was also alive somehow and he was just being kept prisoner by Callahan or something.
Walt Disney's parents lived a lot through his life, his dad Elias living till Walt was 40, but his mom passed when Walt was around his late 30's. But Walt started the Disney parents passing before his own parents death. The parents' deaths in films was more based upon what Walt thought would be the biggest fears for kids. It all started with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves in 1937, 1 year prior to his mom's passing and the first full length animated feature.

The death of Tadashi will never not hurt. Anyone with a sibling can just imagine Hiro's pain. It's really tragic for a Disney film actually.
In the comics, Hiro doesn't have a brother, instead he had a father who died and Hiro created Baymax to fill the void as well as implanting his father's memories and emotions. Hope you went back to watch the after-credit scene.
Haha I did 😆
There was an after-credit scene??
@@-jayde-7322 yeah! It’s really cool
@@Welchy oh wow! I never knew about it, I haven't seen the movie in years XD
I've had an experience in the losing a sibling department, it really does stay with you
Anyway, funnily enough
This movie IS actually a level/world in Kingdom Hearts 3
So, good guess man 👍🏼
The song is called silent sparrow. The next one that plays after is called Family Reunion!
Welchy the whole movie: It’s hay fever. I’m not crying.
Welchy’s emotions: I WILL NOT BE IGNORED!!! 24:04!!!
11:11 ...a Scotsman that doesn't drink. Is the world ending? 🤣🤣
Hold up, let me get my tissues real quick
I also love how they incorporated this film into Kingdom Hearts 3.
Googled this after and somehow, THERE WAS AN ENTIRE ANIMATED SHOW THAT HAD 3 SEASONS AND NO ONE LOVED ME ENOUGH TO TELL ME!
Its so great that Baymax is the emotional center of the movie yet feels no emotion.
Also, I think one of the biggest reasons that so many of Disney’s movies include losing parents is that so many of them are about growing up and coming of age. And losing parents and the people that are supposed to take care of you is a scary yet unavoidable part of that. ❤️ Something we all have to go through at some point.
"Why do I feel attached to a walking marshmellow?"
*Don't worry about it man, we all were.* :(
21:11 "Failure is not the end, but a step on your journey." -Jaro Tapal. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. What I roughly remember.
For the request at 19:22, the song is Silent Sparrow - Henry Jackman
The second I heard lizard guy talk, I immediately knew he was Tuffnut, very fitting too since dragons are lizards
This movie made you feel every human emotion lmao
But then again.....it did the same to me too.
Welchy's allergic to tragedy 😂
I didn't expect to get set off by this one. I haven't seen it since it first came out. I did lose my sister in 2016. She was 25. And when you said one day can change your whole life, you were completely right.
“Ok, this is not Hawaii.”
I had hey fever a while ago it's awful I know wut your going through man. I recommend lemon tea, mint tea. Also humidifiers are great helps clean the air and help with your sinuses. Tea tree oil and rosemary is a really good to put in the humidifier it really clears out the lungs. Lots of rest, water. Don't forget to take a walk it's good to get some fresh air. This stuff helped me I hope it helps you too. Also I'll pray for you
If you were wondering the song immortals was sung by fall out boy.
I WAS ABOUT TO BE SAD AT LIKE 23:58 AND THEN WELCHY JUST STARTED COUGHING AND I LAUGHED HELP
This film is one of the saddest I know along with up
But it has something you rarely see in most animated films
It’s sad and it’s very badass at the same time
It’s just fantastic but aaaaaaaaaaaah
“Tadashi is here”
I litterly died when I heard that
I'm so glad you reacted to this movie, its one of my absolute favorites. Please react to the Lost City of Atlantis or Monster's University!
In the UK version of this movie, TH-camrs Daniel Howell and AmazingPhil voice Technician 1 and Technician 2.
Wanna get a shock? Go back to the scene where Hiro says goodbye to Baymax, pause It and see what is reflected on his eyes
No Baymax yet, but the Japanese invented an adorable robot named Osimo, they hope to one day have robotic nurses to take care of an aging population because many people in Japan are opting not to have kids.
Ah gee Welchy. You're going to love it.
you know, Tadashi's drive thing is actually featured in an Iron Man movie.
This film is a decade old this year. I was 10 years old when this came out and I'm 20 now.... I feel old
Sometimes I wish some people would stop being so selfless and think for themselves
Love big hero 6, one of my favourite disney movies. I've also been wearing sunglasses at work to help my eyes, hayfever hitting me hard this year!
Missed watching this man's videos🏴
Oh my soul Welchy that coughing fit scared the living jeebuz out of me 😂
And just FYI, in true Marvel fashion there was an end credits scene that you missed.
24:04 This is why you have to cry in these movies. Otherwise your body will force it out somehow.
BROOO
you coughing (with bass boosted) at the saddest part of the movie got me rolling on the floor!!
‘ ‘ Why do I feel touched ‘ ‘
‘ ‘ By a walking MarshMellow. ‘ ‘
Yess
😢this film makes me cry so much, also i am a hay fever sufferer aswell
The warming scene reminds me of when I put blankets in the dryer and then cuddle them after
Big hero six is based loosely on a marvel comic by the same name
Great reaction!
Please react to “Quest for Camelot”! You will love the songs and it’s extremely funny!
"This place doesn't even exist... And I want to move to it." -Welchy.
"SAME!" All the fans of any movie/book etc... feeling your pain.
This is one of my favorite underrated Disney movies aside from Brother Bear.
