One of the great things about the Blackstone Griddle is that it comes in various sizes with various options. The 17" which is what we bought, is the smallest in their lineup. So far after just a few days of use, we are loving it.
We got a 17" Blackstone as well for same reasons: takes up less space and 99.9 percent of the time it's just the 2 of us. Perfect size for carrying in the camper. I'm having a blast using it and my wife loves that I'm doing the cooking. It's also much more versatile than a grill. Would be nice to have the different zones a larger one would have but we're happy.
Like you, I went with the 17" versus the 22", and for the same reasons. No regrets. I fully understand why one would want a 22", BUT, space in my 5th wheel is at a premium. Not long ago, I group camped with two couples who also each had the 17" blackstone griddle. NOW that was awesome. 3 griddles going for meal cooking. But whether I'm solo or with friends, my 17" blackstone is one of the best investments I've made since I started full time RVing.. Great food, easy clean up, keep the heat out of the RV...........
After watching your video with the Johnson's, I came here and watched this one. We bought the 17 in Blackstone 2 years ago for our rv and have loved it since. I decided to make a couple of additions to the setup. I purchased two 5 lb LP tanks and the adapter hose (hose from Blackstone). Also discovered that I needed a wind break at times, so I constructed a tri-folding wind break out of MDF and some hinges. It folds flat for storage. My daughter and son-in-law bought one also for their rv and then a larger one for at home. Great product.
@@mannyfragoza9652 It seemed to me I was constantly changing the 1 pounders since I use the griddle at least once per day. Plus then I had a collection of empty cylinders that I had to dispose. So it was easier to use the 5 pounder. I have 2 so I always have one full. Or you could have one 5 pounder and keep a 1 lb as a backup.
Thank you for all of your great videos your advice and touring the country with you My husband and I are selling our 2 story log cabin house and 5 acres in Alaska and go RVing Thanks for all your tips and great advic
I know this is an older video but here's my 2 cents. We just use our portable cheap BBQ gas grill with a lightweight aluminum griddle on top for griddling and can use it to BBQ steaks normally as well as we use it to heat our coffee pot directly over the flame flute while the grill and heat exchange teepee is off. We balance the pot with a couple of small rocks to keep the weight off the flute. Very lightweight system, easy peasy to store and not much cleanup maintenance. Anyway, these Blackstone are all the rage but there's a better alternative for people who need to keep things light and compact and easy. Also, FWIW, we have 390 watts of solar using 4 Trojan golf cart 6 volt batteries instead of Lithium that we find absolutely awesome. We have no power wants at all. We use our genny at times for keurig or what not or when it's cloudy. You two are doing a great job on your channel BTW, keep it up.
I bought the 17" with the rear grease cup in July. I bought it primarily to carry in our camper but..... The wife enjoyed the food I was cooking on it that, I brought it home and use it about every other day. I've cooked all kind of meats and veggies on it. Gas grills usually don't last with me from the amount of use I put them through. So far, the Blackstone is doing very well! The hose adapter to use a larger bottle is definitely worth it!!!
Just bought a 22 blackstone. I love it. Cooked 2 meals on it today. Wife is so happy with my new project cooker. We purchased a large Blackstone over 10 years ago from Sams Club when we needed hamburgers for 300 folks. It is great but we needed a smaller griddle to take in our RV. Great video, just found you guys. I’ll be back. Dan
Thanks so much for joining our crew. We love our Blackstone and while the dual burner controls would be awesome, we only had so much space to store it so we chose the 17". So far so good. Welcome, Norm & Kim
@@beverlymichael5830 going to have to try the smash burgers soon. You're about the 4th person that has mentioned smash burgers to us now so it must be good. Any secrets on how to do it?
Mountain Beaches you first get a press. Blackstone has them or other brands. Like cast iron. Make your burger into balls. Not real large. As you want the burger to be thin when done. Place a small amount of oil on the griddle and get the griddle very hot. Place the burger on and let it sit for a Minute to begin browning. then take parchment paper and place over the ball and smash down firmly to flatten. Parchment keeps raw burger from sticking to the press. The hot griddle will sear the burger then flip and brown the other side. The edges get crispy. I also like to put a bit of butter on the burger just before it’s done and let melt. I am getting hungry for one now. Let me know how you like them.
Nice video, thank you. I bought a 17 inch Blackstone Griddle last spring. We used it all summer and love it. On a 3 week trip I cooked everything on the Blackstone, didn't pull out the Weber Q at all. I like you, I weighed size / space considerations and completely agree the 17 inch is perfect for two people. We picked up the cover and carry bag making it easier to leave out on the tables and store.
Thanks for sharing! I have the cover and carrying bag on order. They were on backorder for a while but should get it in about a week. We've got burgers and french fries on the menu for dinner tonight 😀
Hi, my wife and I just watched your great video about the 17in Blackstone. We just bought one and haven't even used it yet so we really appreciate your video about it. However our has a built in deep fryer on the right side. Now we really can't wait to get it seasoned and get cooking on it ourselves! Also, you are both very fun and enjoyable to watch. Thanks and bon appetite!
Everything tastes better on a griddle lol. We started off big with the big 36" Blackstone with stand and all but it got to be such a hassle I dreaded taking it. It was big, heavy and took up a lot of room in our truck bed. My Wife got me the 22" table top and love it!!! It fits perfectly on top of the outdoor grill in our outdoor kitchen and we brought a 20ft hose and Blackstone adapter so all we have to do is plug right into the existing LP port for the outdoor grill...no more huge griddle, no more extra propane bottle and a lot less weight. Now I'm hungry lol
we have the 17 inch because of the size and we love it. We had the same problem about running out of gas with the little bottles but our Trailer has a LP quick connect at the rear bumper, so we bought a 12 ft hose on Amazon to connect to the LP outlet and to the griddle. That replaces the gas bottle and it works great.
We took your advice and bought the 17" model. After seasoning the grill 4 times, we made bacon & eggs and then chicken fajitas for dinner. It works great! Thanks for turning us on to this grill. Happy Glamping!
We have the 22” travel grill and love it! It lives on our front porch. My hubby just bought me the 17 table top with hood for our little motorhome, can’t wait to use it! We bought adapters to be able to run ours off of a full size propane bottle. We have a propane fire pit, so we can run both off the same bottle (not at the same time) cheaper that way.
That’s awesome. I’m planning to get the hose to connect to the exterior LP line our trailer has. The small bottles are just a stop gap measure. Thanks.
I have the 17" griddle in the motorhome and we have a 22" at home, I have cooked breakfast for 4 people on the 17". I really like both it took a lot of cooking and thinking before we bought the 22" and what was the kicker was we got the 22" on sale for $99.00 I really like both can't go wrong with either.
That’s awesome. We got our 17” for $64. If we want to go up to a 22” then it’s not like we’ve made a huge investment. Thanks so much for watching and following our channel!
Right after you mentions how easy it to clean up, I thought "oh yeah, it is." We won't have to wash big pots and pans dishes for meals and like you said, it saves water. Win Win!!
Our new camper came with a griddle. However ours mounts on side of camper and has a prep table that you can use next to it. Ours had a hose and special connection to run off of 30# bottles of propane. We can leave ours out all the time and always ready to use. My wife loves it because you have no other pans to clean up. When we seasoned ours we did not do the outside like what you did. Every thing else pretty much the same. It is a great asset to our camper without a doubt.
Great review! I recently bought the Blackstone 22" with lid and stand from Walmart - a really good deal! (just home use right now). I'm totally loving it - I barely use my BBQ, (sitting right beside the griddle) any more. Your meals were very diverse, and beautifully presented - Thanks!!!
Stumbled across your Channel. We have the 22” Blackstone Griddle and I haven’t found anything that I can’t cook on it. I love my griddle. Thank you for sharing.
Nice video. I love my 17. I'm a huge Blackstone fan. My favorites in order... 1. GEN 1 Pizza Oven, $250 Added an upgraded rotisserie motor for $50 2. 36" Gen 1, $150 on clearance at WallyWorld 3. 28" Gen 1, $70 on clearance at WallyWorld.. 4. 17" Gen 1, $70 at Ace Hardware Bought a 20lb SS braided adapter Used a B and D mouse on all griddles. They all have a purpose. The 17 is handy for smashburgers, and tailgate use with the Coleman tanks. The 28 is the bigger party portable camp griddle with the carrying case for the griddle top. 36 stays home, and is a Sat or Sun family breakfast monster. Philly cheesesteaks with JimmyJohns bread are another fun family cook. With whiz! My 17 griddle doesn't have the tacked on angle iron, and warped. BS CS was awesome, sent out a new griddle pre angle iron. It's still unseasoned in its box.
We have been using our Blackstone 17 for about a year and a half. I wanted a 22" but nobody had one for purchase so I bought the 17. I long for the 22" every time I use it. It is just the 2 of us but I like to cook enough for leftovers. I really can't do that on the 17". A pound of bacon takes the entire griddle. I love to grill zucchini, mushrooms, onion, peppers, and potatoes/sweet potatoes to have for a meal and plenty leftover for lunch salads (with balsamic drizzle) for several days. I really need a 22" to make that happen. Also, the single burner limits the flexibility and various heat zones. May have to upgrade soon.
You do some amazing cooking on yours. We're just getting started and the 17" is doing great for us but I certainly can see the advantages of the 22". Maybe on day...
I went through the same decision in May, but went for the 22". I still flip flop in my head about the choice. 17 isn't a "mistake", its just the 22 gives you that dual zone option. Space/size is a big issue too. ANY Blackstone is a win IMHO. I'm sure you two will enjoy it.
The 22" makes it a bit easier for multiple things cooking. I chose the 22" since my first go with a non-BS single burner was such a cf. But, the 17" BS does not have that problem
We have one and love it. We were restaurant owners and my husband worked on a griddle. So it brings back memories. I love when he hollers “ Order Up”. You better come running because he just fixed a delicious meal. We had a huge ice storm in Texas and at home we were out of electricity, water for 4 days and the Blackstone provide us with meals. At home we have a big propane tank, But camping we carry several small propane tanks. Welcome to the Blackstone Family Community
I came across one at a garage sale it works really well. You did mention the size makes it a little hard to prepare meals to some extent but I may have a way to mitigate that. I am assuming its working with the large spatulas since I had that problem. Frankly they are too big for the size so I got smaller and different style tools. I served and did some contractor work in Japan and often went to teppanyaki places, restaurants that make food in front of you on a griddle and I adopted their tools. You can search for videos to looks at chefs making food and the tools but the tools smaller and much more manageable to work on the small surface space you have for this griddle. Of course I am not saying replace everything with the tools my 90% the Japanese tools work. Also they arent exotic tools or anything, one I use is basically a paint scraper that i bought at Home Depot, its more of using different techniques for cooking. Hopefully, if you watched some videos, it will open up more styles of food you can cook on the griddle like fried rice dishes and fried noodles-try to use egg noodles.
I agree about going up in size if there are more then 2 people. That is why we got the 22inch which we love. I did get the adapter to connect directly to my tt quick connect and that is very convenient for sure. That small bottle just seems to run out to fast. Have fun and enjoy the griddle, we absolutely love ours.
Excellent review! Here in brat country Wisconsin, you NEVER put ketchup on a brat! Sour kraut and brown mustard. Breakfast reminded me of an old fashioned diner we have here in Kenosha and they call it their garbage plate. A whole lot of everything all together and it is awesome. Can you imagine having a breakfast like that off-grid in the middle of nowhere!!?? Life doesn’t get any better than that! Really enjoy your channel, and your rig. We have the 2018 version and love it.
I know, ketchup on a Brat, what was I thinking? 😂I never do that but for some reason I did on this one. Well I guess if you also own a 303 you can't be all bad 😉. Seriously though, thanks so much for watching and commenting. It means a lot to us.
We have the 17 inch Blackstone griddle and really enjoy it. There are several reasons we like the 17" for the 2 of us, most of which were stated in the video. One key aspect that the 17" has over the larger model is the fact that the front lip edge is the perfect height so that when you are using the spatula it will rest on the edge of the griddle with the face up and is off the griddle burner area. The height of the larger model is made slightly shorter and will NOT allow the spatula to properly balance on the edge. Of course we are using the steel grade spatula. Simply rest the spatula with the face up while you are cooking not using the utensil. Really handy and allows the spatula to be ready to use without the need to set it on a side plate or otherwise. Why did Blackstone not make the two griddles the same? Not sure, but this is a really handy option while cooking. Also, Blackstone does not seem to make an aluminum drip pan liner to add into the drip tray for the 17". Not a big deal, but could aid in cleanup.
Our 2021 Geo Pro 19FD trailer came with a Suburban Elite 17" griddle with a side of the trailer mounting arrangement with a quick connect hose to underneath the RV. It's pretty much identical to the Blackstone, and sized for the 19FD storage capability. Good cooking all around.
The breakfast you guys made looked fabulous, would love to have some of that right now! We bought the Blackstone 22" with a stand and lid, because our 3 burner Camp Chef with the 30" griddle is a little too big and heavy to always take with us camping (especially for the short duration trips). We keep our Blackstone setup on our covered patio in the backyard at home during the summer. I noticed a while back, that both companies are headquartered in the same town in Northern Utah, a few blocks away from one another.
The funny thing is we live within minutes of both companies. We used to have the Camp Chef and loved it too but it is just so big and heavy. We had no idea the Blackstone was in our town as well until we got ours and saw their address. So crazy.
My sister got the 17 inch for my birthday, I've only cooked on it once. I did links and peppers. Had to be careful not to roll the links off of the griddle. I will be getting the adapter so I can use my big tanks. It will be great for veggies and quick burgers, but I like my 36 inch with air fryers the best.
Thanks for sharing! One tip, to make sure you don't roll your links off the griddle, line them up so they roll side to side. They can't roll off the sides or back, just the front.
I cooked on a 17” for a family of 4 for 2 years. It goes camping with us too. I now the 36” with air fryer for home use. Both are great. I’d get the propane bottle adapter for a 20# bottle for home use.
Great video. I want the smallest size as possible while on the road. You have us convinced that the 17” will work for us also. You both are great! Thank you.
22" all the way! We replaced our camp stove and portable grill with the 22". Advantage over 17 inch is a drip pan and two burners for better heat control. If you have not gotten an inferred thermometer do it.
I also recently picked up the 17" for our travel trailer. Thanks for sharing how you clean it. I wasn't sure the best way on how to do that. I just seasoned it today and its ready to get used.
An elderly short order cook taught me to use the leftover coffee vs water to clean a greasy grill. Just pour on hot grill, scrape & wipe clean. Slick as a whistle!
I had a 30” and the wife decided we needed one to travel with. We went with the 22” and I’m really glad we didn’t go smaller. BUT I quickly learned the tiny gas bottles are more trouble than they are worth. Now we just take a 20lb tank and we never have to worry about running out.
There are advantages to the 22" for sure. For just the 2 of us however the 17" has been perfect. I don't use the bottles anymore either. We have a direct connect to our RV now.
Bought the 17” model. Taking it camping in our rv next week and have several meals planned for it. So far everything tastes fantastic and the grilling is great fun.
I have a 17 inch and a 28 inch.i find the 17 inch doesn’t get hot enough for some meals and a 22 inch is only 5 inches wider. I bought a hose and I connect it to my bigger propane bottle.i knew when you said you seasoned the griddle and then cooked 3 meals you were gonna run out of gas.but a 17 inch is perfect for a RV.
Thanks for the input. Our mistake was using partially empty bottles instead of new ones. That's interesting about not getting hot enough. So far we've not had that problem. We also plan to get a hose to connect to our RV external LP line. Thanks for the info.
We have a 36" Camp Chef for our home and what a great item to cook on. Too big to take with even though we can fit it in front of the 5th wheel while traveling, but moving it around would be a pain. I then saw a Video from Josh the RV nerd on a new Jayco and it comes WITH the Blackstone 22". I saw that and was like, THATS what we need! The fact that it can run off the RV LP is a plus since none of our other 1LB grills can do that without modifications. I gave thought to 17" but with 5 people on trips, it just doesn't have enough real estate to cook it all at once. The 22" and stand are on our to-get list for the trailer. We currently have a Foreman LP griddle/grill that we use, but have to carry several 1 LB cans, or a spare 20 LB tank and hose to use it, and also a Char-Broil infrared. We have plenty of room to store all 3, and breakfasts will be much easier to make since we can cook the bacon, eggs, sausage on the Blackstone and pancakes on the Foreman at the same time. Nothing beats a good flat top though for burgers and fried rice and you name it! Thanks for the review, I had a feeling it would be no different than the Camp Chef and I was right.
I agree if we were cooking for 5 then the 22" would be the way to go. We are loving our 17" so far. We're having friends over for dinner tonight at our campsite and french fries and burgers are on the menu. The funny thing is both Camp Chef and Blackstone are located just a few minutes from our home.
@@MountainBeaches Whats funny is I found Blackstone has a tabletop camp set that has the 17: griddle and a cooktop in one. I was this close to getting the 22", then saw that. Too many choices now!
I have a small 1gal propane can I use for this & my BBQ. Paid for itself on the second fill up vs those little green cans. You can also tap off your RV tank prior to the regulator. Don't run it after the regulator unless you modify the regulator on the BBQ or Blackstone. Won't run well double regulated. Also for the grill; get a 'steel'. looks like a heavy duty steel wool pad on steroids. When you need a bit of heavy scouring. Do the water thing and use the steel to clean off the cooked on sticky stuff. Wear a glove or use the blade of the blade of spatula to move it around.
@@MountainBeaches your going to have a problem if its (the line from the RV) after the regulator on the RV tank, and your grill has a regulator as well. one of the regulators has to be by passed or removed.
@@herb7877 you are correct. They make an adaptor specifically for the Blackstone to connect to your RV LP line. The regulator that comes with the Blackstone is not used in that case. At least that is my understanding so far.
You guys are adorable. I almost bought the 17" for my new-for-me trailer, but opted for the 22" because I have four kids. I do like that the 22" adventure set from Walmart has a lid on the griddle and a stand (or you can just set it on a flat surface) for only $70 more. I have a 36" Blackstone at home. Hmmmm. Maybe I need a 17" griddle to complete the set LOL
Haha, 3 would be awesome. If we had more mouths to feed regularly then we would have gotten he 22" too. We have a roll up aluminum table that works perfect for the griddle. Thanks for the comments and for watching
2 years ago I was ready to pull the trigger on the 17" but ended up getting the 22" and so glad I did just for the 2 zones of cooking and the extra cooking space. I really love it I'm sure that I would have liked 17" also.
Very nice! All the Blackstones are a great choice. For us, so far, the 17" has been the perfect combination of size vs functionality. Thanks for sharing.
Just woke up and drinking my morning coffee. Drooling over your breakfast! 😋 For two people the 17” seems adequate. I agree about the size and storage considerations. Also ease of setup is important. Looks very easy and quick 👍 Thanks for review!
We already LOVE it! For us, right now, the 17" is perfect. I would like the dual control feature of the 22" but I'd rather have the compact size for our limited storage.
Good video. I have the 22" and it works great for us. I use it at home also. You can get a quick connect adapter if you have an LP quick connect on your rig or an adapter that will connect it to a 20Lb tank. I got the 22" so I could have two temperature settings. For example. I can cook sausage or hash browns first push them off to the side and have the burner off. On the hot side I can make my omelet or pancakes. It works great for real philly cheese-steaks, but you must use shaved rib eye. The best thing is, I can cook a whole pound of bacon at one time if I need to.
That's a huge advantage of the 22". For now we're good with our 17" but who knows down the road. We plan to get the hose to connect to our RV's exterior LP quick connect. That will be so much better than the small bottles.
Way cool, our local hardware store had the 17 inch for a good price, but I really wanted a twenty-two inch, so I did not get it, I knew the twenty two had two burners and I did not even think about two different temperatures.......so glad for that description.
Wall-Mart often times has the 22" on sale both in store and sometimes on their website. You just have to catch it at the right time. If you can wait I bet you'll be able to find a deal on Black Friday in November.
I have the 17 inch blackstone & a 36 inch char grill griddle . Honestly have to say I cook more on the 17 and I have a family of 4 . I cook just as much and spend way less time cleaning up . I did buy an adapter hose so I could hook up to a 20 lb tank instead of the little 1 lb tanks . Lowes or Home Depot carries it for about 15 bucks .
I have the 17 inch. However, I'm a solo RV'r. So it works for me. What I see of your table, can you tell me what kind of table it is. Need it sturdy. 😘 I'm Amanda hope you can help.
And it's just the two of us so our 17" works great for us. The table is an aluminum roll top. Here's a link to it: www.amazon.com/dp/B07F3CZ2TZ?ref=exp_mountainbeaches_dp_vv_d
I have the same one. Black stones are great! The issue with this one is it has cold spots and each burner is not adjustable. My buddy has the next size up. With 2 separate burners that are individually adjustable. His has no cold spots. It also came with a lid and stand with a small side table. Wish I would’ve bought that one. Great review though. Now I’m hungry!
I use a Presto 22-in. Electric Ceramic Griddle. I don't need propane, I can use it outside, and I use the campground power to cook. Plus the seasoning a Blackstone needs is a pain. I know because I have the big one at home. You have to go back and re-season them. We have an all-electric RV.
@@MountainBeaches It's a lot, 1500 watts. The actual cooking area is 18 inches. We rarely boondock but I have a lot of batteries and a 12.5k generator. (diesel pusher)
Well let's make our paths cross somewhere and we'll cook you that breakfast and some french fries. How are you doing with all the craziness? There's a small chance that we might cross paths with Liz and Paul in the next week or so. We'd love to meet them as well. Of course we would love to be going to the Odd Squad palooza but that was just too far for us right now.
I'm going to be running a Camp Chef double burner stove with a flat top griddle and BBQ grill box! I'm also going to be utilizing the propane quick connect that's on the chassis of our Reflection! Cheers!
We got the 17" for our camper and it's been fine. Got a carry cover for it and love it. Could we have used the 22"? sure, and now I'm sort of regretting it. Saw a 22" with Blackstone stand at WalMart this weekend for $175. Oh so tempting....What would I do with my 17"? Hmmm, give it to my camping buddy as a hand-me-down gift?
I have 2 of them the 17 in and the 22 in I recommend frying bacon to season to start out that's what I used on my 22in, I learned from experience from my 17in I bought first. My 17in is for camping my 22in is for home use them both all the time.
Interesting. I'm thinking of getting that model. We now have the 17" teflon coated one we bought years ago. While I love it, the grease catcher doesn't work well and is too small. But I loved it so much otherwise we bought the 22" for our house. On size, for two of us I almost never use but half of the 22" griddle except when we have guests. So for the the 17" is more than enough. Of course the grandkids eat about 2 lbs of bacon for breakfast each (kidding), so then we fill the 17 up. I'm not sure why people recommend the 22" unless for their house.
Nothing is perfect but most of the comments positive, I guess its up to you to find whats the right size for you! Due to my family size I bought the 36in 🤔😍😄love it!
Great video and the food looked great! We went with the 22” one and got the package with the hood and the stand.. I took the hood off and bought the travel bag for the unit without the legs attached. I only seem to use the stand occasionally but nice to have. The 17” looks like it works fine though!
That is awesome! So far the 17" has been perfect for us. I have the soft cover and carrying bag on order. I'm also planning to get the LP connection so I can just hook it up to our RV's exterior LP hookup. We already have a roll up aluminum table that we put the griddle on. Works great.
WOW 🤩 that looks great 👍 all 3 meals! It looks like the Blackstone met the challenge! Norm glad to see your back is healing and you’re able to do what you like. Best to you both stay safe and look forward to your next video!!
Love the new thumb nails. Love the griddle, have to look into seeing if we can get these in Australia 🇦🇺 The food looks awesome. Great cook up! 22” sounds perfect for us.
I have a 22” with the base and legs. I use it a lot at home and love it. I have taken it in the 5th wheel for trips but I’m finding it difficult to get in and out due to it’s weight. I think I’m going to get the 17” due to better portability and that it’s large enough to hold food for just my wife and I. When the family comes with their campers I may take the 22 but I’ll have someone to help me get it in and out. And wait until you try a ribeye on the black stone. Awesome! Thanks for the video.
Nice review! We are not likely to get a Blackstone... They seem so nice, but we would need a LARGE one for our family of 6, and as you say space is at a premium!! We do, however, use our built in outdoor stove all the time, and just got a 6 qt cast iron that fits perfectly over both burners. 👍🏼
The 22” is much better. It provides a much larger cook surface and it has two burners so you can regulate the cook surface much better. I have a 22” for camping and a 28” for home (wish I had the 36”) for home the larger the surface the better it is. You can regulate the burners and have a warming side of the griddle for food that gets done earlier. Either way I love my griddle and am still experimenting with the cooking. You won’t regret the purchase. A larger propane source is desirable. Have fun
Yea we definitely understand the advantages of the 22" over the 17" but for now we are happy. We do plan to get an extension hose to connect to our exterior LP hookup on our 5th Wheel. Thanks.
Haha, thanks Izzy. We LOVE what you guys have done with your channel. You're killing it in a good way. We've been wanting to change our intro but have been doing "ours" for so long that we were stuck in a rut and couldn't come up with anything. We "borrowed" you awesome intro to help us get out of our rut and to help get our creative juices flowing on alternative intro for us. We promise, we'll give it back real soon. 💙 Norm & Kim
Yea there are a lot of differing opinions on this. My best recommendation is to just NOT use bacon. This is actually what Blackstone says on their website. "After years of testing and cooking on griddles we created our own mixture. The Blackstone Seasoning and Cast Iron Conditioner is the best and easiest way to get consistent results. This unique blend of oils combines the best of many different cooking oils."
Wow! Those meals looked amazing-especially the breakfast! I just purchased the 17” and can’t wait to give it a try! I am curious how long it took to season the griddle from start to finish on your initial use? Love your channel.
Wow, thank you so much 💙 Seasoning it took about 30 minutes is all. Not too bad. We did 5 coatings. I've heard people do as many as 20! Blackstone recommends between 3-5 to start with.
We are loving ours. Yes the 22" has the advantage of 2 different temperature areas but for now the 17" is just perfect for us. We're cooking french fries and burgers tonight! Yum.
That's kind of what we keep thinking. It seems big enough for us. We're having our camp neighbors over for dinner tonight and we'll be cooking french fries and burgers. Yum.
One of the great things about the Blackstone Griddle is that it comes in various sizes with various options. The 17" which is what we bought, is the smallest in their lineup. So far after just a few days of use, we are loving it.
Let us know what type of grill/griddle you have.
@@waynekern8471 right, we feel the same way. Two cooking zones would be nice, but the smaller size, for us is more important.
We have a 17” for camping and a 22” for use at home, cost a bit to ship them over to the U.K. but I think it was worth it, love cooking on them 👍
@@Adrian-Pryke that's awesome.
Thanks for sharing Roger! Happy travels.
Plain old lard is the best for seasoning cast iron anything.
Thanks for sharing.
We love our Blackstone. Fixed burgers on it for the Johnsons last night in fact. Welcome to Mountain Beaches.
any idea how long a 1lb propane tank lasts .i see you upgraded to a 5lb tank, that tells me the 1 lb doesnt last long at all
@@mannyfragoza9652 It seemed to me I was constantly changing the 1 pounders since I use the griddle at least once per day. Plus then I had a collection of empty cylinders that I had to dispose. So it was easier to use the 5 pounder. I have 2 so I always have one full. Or you could have one 5 pounder and keep a 1 lb as a backup.
@@terrymcknight4167 thanks Terry i will prob go with the 20lb but that means i have to buy the hose

“ PAVING THE WAY”
For us. New comers 😍💃🏾❤️
That’s awesome Joel. There’s no one right way to RV. I love to see how people make things work for them. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing! We're planning to get the hose adapter once we get back home. Happy cooking.
I have had my 22 inch Blackstone for two years and I totally love it. Great cooking and no mess in the house and fast clean up. Food tastes fantastic
That is awesome! We're having another couple over for dinner tonight and plan to cook french fried and burgers! Can't wait.
Mountain Beaches I love burgers on the blackstone. Love to do smash burgers. They get the crispy edges. Sooo good.
Place the burger on and let it sit for a
Minute to begin browning. then take parchment paper and place over the ball and smash down firmly to flatten. Parchment keeps raw burger from sticking to the press. The hot griddle will sear the burger then flip and brown the other side. The edges get crispy. I also like to put a bit of butter on the burger just before it’s done and let melt. I am getting hungry for one now. Let me know how you like them.
@@beverlymichael5830 that sounds awesome. Thank you
Nice video, thank you.
Thank you so much John. Happy cooking 😁
great video, I just order a 17
can't wait to start cooking on it
We've had ours almost 2 years and still love it. We added a hose so we can connect to an external propane line on our trailer.
Yea we still love our 17" too.
we have the 17 inch because of the size and we love it. We had the same problem about running out of gas with the little bottles but our Trailer has a LP quick connect at the rear bumper, so we bought a 12 ft hose on Amazon to connect to the LP outlet and to the griddle. That replaces the gas bottle and it works great.
We’re planning to do the same thing. Thanks for sharing.
@@MountainBeaches Is the LP quick connect regulated propane? Running it through the stove regulator won't work.
@@doneitall72 yes it is
We took your advice and bought the 17" model.
After seasoning the grill 4 times, we made bacon & eggs and then chicken fajitas for dinner.
It works great! Thanks for turning us on to this grill.
Happy Glamping!
That's awesome. Thanks for sharing with us. Happy grilling.
That is awesome!
Had the 17” for years feed our drag race team of 25 people with out a problem got the big bottle hose hooked up to it love it !!!
Win Win!!
Just be careful of the steam if you put water on the hot griddle. Don't ask me how I know 😂
Our new camper came with a griddle.
We'll be getting the hose to connect to our LP line as well. We go through the small bottles pretty fast.
Hey thanks Gary. So far we are loving it.
Hi Garry, I ordered the 17" for $85. The 22" with hood was $185 and I couldn't justify 5 more inches for a hundred bucks.
Y’all just make me smile. Marriage goals/life goals, y’all are awesome!
Thanks so much Daniel! 💙
We bought the 22" Blackstone and are pleased as punch with it. The Fajitas we made were amazing!
Makes almost everything taste better. Loving ours too!
Stumbled across your Channel. We have the 22” Blackstone Griddle and I haven’t found anything that I can’t cook on it. I love my griddle. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed the video. We love our 17" but if we had more room we'd for sure love the 22" even more.
Ive had mine for three years already and love the heck out of it.
That's awesome
Nice video.
I love my 17.
I'm a huge Blackstone fan.
My favorites in order...
1. GEN 1 Pizza Oven, $250
Added an upgraded rotisserie motor for $50
2. 36" Gen 1, $150 on clearance at WallyWorld
3. 28" Gen 1, $70 on clearance at WallyWorld..
4. 17" Gen 1, $70 at Ace Hardware
Bought a 20lb SS braided adapter
Used a B and D mouse on all griddles.
Awesome, thanks for sharing Brandon!
Just the wife and I. We love our 17 inch Blackstone!
It's just perfect for two!
You're exactly right. Bottom line is any Blackstone is a win.
That’s awesome. We now plug ours directly into the quick connect LP line on the outside of our RV. Love it.
Hey thanks for the great suggestions
I agree about going up in size if there are more then 2 people. That is why we got the 22inch which we love. I did get the adapter to connect directly to my tt quick connect and that is very convenient for sure. That small bottle just seems to run out to fast. Have fun and enjoy the griddle, we absolutely love ours.
Yes I absolutely plan to get the adapter to connect to the RV. Thanks.
I'm so glad you did a review on the Blackstone. I've been eyeballing them for a while. When it comes time for me buy one, I'm going to get the 17".
Glad we can help. We love our 17" but I do see the advantages of the 22" too.
Great info, thanks for sharing!
My 17 has the drip liner pan
We just bought the 17 inch Blackstone. We love it. So much fun to discover all the ways to use it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Our pleasure and thanks for watching and commenting. We'll see you down the road somewhere.
That's awesome. We still are loving our Blackstone.
Mike Muller we own the 22” adventure ready kit as well. It’s perfect for our needs in our 5th wheel.
The funny thing is we live within minutes of both companies. We used to have the Camp Chef and loved it too but it is just so big and heavy. We had no idea the Blackstone was in our town as well until we got ours and saw their address. So crazy.
That's great Mike. I do like the idea of the dual control for varied temperatures that the 22" offers.
That is awesome! We plan to order the adapter after we get home next month.
Mountain Beaches you can get them at Walmart if your passing by one.
@@kevincameron8437 Ah, good to know. Is it in the RV section? Thanks.

The more you cook on it the more seasoned it will get. The taste of the food will get better the more seasoned it gets.
Great point. Thanks for sharing Gary.
22" all the way! We replaced our camp stove and portable grill with the 22". Advantage over 17 inch is a drip pan and two burners for better heat control. If you have not gotten an inferred thermometer do it.
Thanks. Our 17” came with a drip pan as well. It’s in the front left corner.
Have you ever tried Dales seasoning (liquid) on your steaks? I use it and a little bit of garlic salt seasoning fantastic!

We LOVE ours! Would I like the 22" model? Sure, but I like the smaller size more.
@acdii but all good choices 😀👍
@@acdii haha, but all good choices right?
Thanks for the suggestions. We are planning to get a conversion hose to connect to our RV external LP line. Thanks.
I have found that small pieces cut from different thicknesses of paint stir sticks work great for leveling camp cookware.
Great suggestion! Shims might make a better option as they tend to have more of an angle to them as far as thickness. 🤷🏻♂️
My dad bought me the 17. I got 4 kids as well. Only take it camping and it works fine for us. Thinking about getting a 36 for the house
Does the 22” get enough heat to put a nice ‘crisp’ on a steak?
@@eshetchayil6246 Yes it does.
Just woke up and drinking my morning coffee. Drooling over your breakfast! 😋
For two people the 17” seems adequate. I agree about the size and storage considerations.
Also ease of setup is important. Looks very easy and quick 👍
Thanks for review!
We already LOVE it! For us, right now, the 17" is perfect. I would like the dual control feature of the 22" but I'd rather have the compact size for our limited storage.

Oh wow it was good. Come join us for breakfast sometime
Mountain Beaches ...thanks!!!
Love my 17 inch
Amazing what you can do once you learn the hot spots.
An infrared thermometer helps
Oh great suggestion. We have an infrared thermometer but never thought to use it with the griddle. Thanks.
We have the 22” with the lid. Very happy with it. We did get a extra hose to hook it into the big LP tank.
The 22" does have its advantages, especially with the dual controls. I need to get me one of these extra hoses though.
We have the 28 inch at home and we love it. We cook just about everything on
I bet that’s amazing.
Ma, I love watching the speeded up Benihana spatula work! You got skillz!
haha, not so sure I do but thanks.
We've done the adapter hose to connect right in to our RV line.
@@MountainBeaches God bless 🙏 Thank you ❤️
We've had a coleman propane with an swappable griddle since before these came out. When this one wears out a 22 inch Blackstone will be our next!
Nice!
Thanks. We just didn't want to have that much stuff and so far the 17" has been perfect for us.
Thanks Roy. I'm not familiar with the Presto. What kind of power does it draw? We boondock a lot and rarely stay at RV Parks with electric.
@@MountainBeaches It's a lot, 1500 watts. The actual cooking area is 18 inches. We rarely boondock but I have a lot of batteries and a 12.5k generator. (diesel pusher)
You had me at Spinach Omelet Scramble! Frozen french fries on the grill are genius... I wish I was there to join you too!
Cheers!
That sounds very nice.
So far so good for us with the 17" but we totally get why people want the bigger ones too.
Great review. What folding table are you using?
Thank you. The table is one we found online at camping world. We really like it.
I have 2 of them the 17 in and the 22 in I recommend frying bacon to season to start out that's what I used on my 22in, I learned from experience from my 17in I bought first. My 17in is for camping my 22in is for home use them both all the time.
Thanks for sharing. I watched a video on the Blackstone YT site that specifically said not to season with bacon. Who knows. haha
Your right no bacon on the first two coats or so because of the salts in the cure after that they say okay use bacon on the first full cook
@@stevenfriedrich2832 good to know. After all, who doesn't love bacon?
Interesting. I'm thinking of getting that model. We now have the 17" teflon coated one we bought years ago. While I love it, the grease catcher doesn't work well and is too small. But I loved it so much otherwise we bought the 22" for our house. On size, for two of us I almost never use but half of the 22" griddle except when we have guests. So for the the 17" is more than enough. Of course the grandkids eat about 2 lbs of bacon for breakfast each (kidding), so then we fill the 17 up. I'm not sure why people recommend the 22" unless for their house.
Yea I agree with the grease catcher but still all things considered the 17” is best for us.
Nothing is perfect but most of the comments positive, I guess its up to you to find whats the right size for you!
Due to my family size I bought the 36in
🤔😍😄love it!
Well said!
Life is short so we living for today, even if that means we have to modify and cut back for now. Thanks so much Harry.
Love the new thumb nails. Love the griddle, have to look into seeing if we can get these in Australia 🇦🇺 The food looks awesome. Great cook up! 22” sounds perfect for us.
You can cook up quite the spread on a 22" and the dual burners give you much more control. Thanks.
Mountain Beaches awesome 👍🏽
I have a 22” with the base and legs. I use it a lot at home and love it. I have taken it in the 5th wheel for trips but I’m finding it difficult to get in and out due to it’s weight. I think I’m going to get the 17” due to better portability and that it’s large enough to hold food for just my wife and I. When the family comes with their campers I may take the 22 but I’ll have someone to help me get it in and out. And wait until you try a ribeye on the black stone. Awesome! Thanks for the video.
So far the 17" has proven to be the right option for us. We're loving it. Ribeye? Hmm, sounds awesome
Thanks.
I have a 28in Blackstone, love it. It's connected to my house propane, so plenty of gas.
Awesome
22 is the way to go, not just for the size but you have 2 burners to play with. You can keep one off and use that side as a warming area.
Thanks for sharing
Love you guys! Thanks for the great review!
Awe thanks!
I love our 17 inch griddle also!
Still love ours. We’re thinking of doing a follow up to this video after owning it for a while. Would that be of interest?
We talked to a lot of people and we ended up with the 22 inch with the lid. No regrets
Yea that seems to be what most people go with. We’ll start with our 17” and see how it goes. We got a great deal and only paid $64 for it.
I got the 22inch and embarrassed to admit it was really too big and got the 17 inch one as well. Love camping with the 17 inch and use the 22 at home
That sounds like a brilliant plan to get a 22" at home. Why didn't I think of that haha.
Great video and we love your Intro. Seems like we have heard that before 😉
Izzy
Haha, thanks Izzy. We LOVE what you guys have done with your channel. You're killing it in a good way. We've been wanting to change our intro but have been doing "ours" for so long that we were stuck in a rut and couldn't come up with anything. We "borrowed" you awesome intro to help us get out of our rut and to help get our creative juices flowing on alternative intro for us. We promise, we'll give it back real soon. 💙 Norm & Kim
Thanks for the review. I've been eyeing those grills for a couple weeks. I think I'll do the 22" with stand, so it can easily be leveled.
Enjoy your new grill!
@@MountainBeaches The 22" with stand and lid was only $174 at Walmart online. Great deal.
@@TomSpurlock That is a great deal!
It is what it is...and it works!
Agreed. We like it!
Love it! Would this model allow for direct attachment at RV propane quick connect outlet?
Yes, absolutely. That's how we have ours set up.
It's advised to season your griddle with peanut oil or high temp coconut oil.
We love our 17”! Looks like we need to up our scrambled egg game lol. Worcestershire sauce makes for such a GREAT steak marinade too!
I'm sure your scrambled egg game is great! Thanks for watching 💙
Thank you for you insight. I'm with you about size. And it's just the two of us also. So the 17" might find a home in our camper as well.
We are loving ours. Yes the 22" has the advantage of 2 different temperature areas but for now the 17" is just perfect for us. We're cooking french fries and burgers tonight! Yum.
Reminds me of being at a Japanese steak house. Norm would make a great Hibachi Chef. I am hungry now. Going to have to get me a Blackstone.
Hibachi Chef? 😆😂
You won’t regret it they are great. I personally wouldn’t go any smaller than the 22” griddle.
@@glenncoon6639 So far it's been awesome but I do see the advantage of the 22". For now though we're good. Thanks.
We have the 17 inch. You’ll be glad u got the smaller one! Big enough for two as you have just shown!
That's kind of what we keep thinking. It seems big enough for us. We're having our camp neighbors over for dinner tonight and we'll be cooking french fries and burgers. Yum.
Great video. Where did you get the table that the grill is sitting on?
Hey thanks. We got that at Camping World www.campingworld.com/roll-top-table-110081.html
Buy the quick connect to use the RV propane instead of the small bottles.
Thanks for the suggestion. It's already on our list of things to get. The small bottles are a pain.
