When Xcel would not turn the power back on at the Ocho it was because they claimed it was a commercial account. The reason they never told us about the account is because we called their residential account to switch over utilities when I bought it and the residential side doesn't talk to the commercial side. No part of the building was commercial. Here is that video th-cam.com/video/wpKF_iX_yFg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yzcFMK0jf8-eU5YS

I hate scammers and thief’s. I’ll never forget 25yrs ago my grandfather passed away in Virginia. We got a call from the local police department informing us that we should keep someone at home during the funeral services. Some sick criminals had been going through the obituaries in the paper and robbing the homes of people whom just lost a loved one while they were at the funeral.

Another way to spot scam emails: misspellings and bad grammar.

As usual Mr Mark is helping us common folk how to avoid scams. I’m so tired of getting scam calls. I know people here in Denham Springs, Louisiana who almost got scammed but thankfully the family knew and stopped it when they heard about. This person had already been to the bank and got 5000$ dollars to bring it to a person who was gonna recieve it from this person. It’s so sad that it’s getting where u don’t know who to trust and in the south, we are very trusting people. So sad

I can understand why you almost fell for this scam given your history with the electric company. That scam is all over the place hitting commercial and residentail properties. I hate scammers!

They will call and say ya need to update ya computer software. I had several we laugh at the them afterwards because they thought we would fall for their tricks. One was a foreigner and said they need the account number and so on. Best one i still laugh about was someone looking for my sister when we shared an apt. He said my I speak with and i said well she left the country to go to China. He said do you have a contact number or address. I said no she didn't say anything just left. They never called back after that. They hate us because we ask questions and even as for their social security number because they ask us. They hang up quickly.

Not a comment, but a question: Why are you, the landlord, paying your tenant's electric bill? Why don't you have your tenants pay their utilities?

Yep happened to me at my job when I answered the phone! Trying to scare us in to paying electric on one of the owner's commercial properties because it was pass due! LOL And yes make sure you bought or use someone's service when you get a bill. They make those bills look really official!

utility scams are common, on the east coast where we live, for residential homes. We are continually warned to not pay them. They do the same thing, "we will turn your power off".

we get a ton of rental scams on local sites, too. You know it's a scam because the rents are listed so low.

So you bought the building raise the rent price and made the square footage smaller for the business. That's not going to behoove you in the long run with other businesses failing around the Area Every time new landlord comes Along They always raise the rent which will force the previous tenants to abandon that location. I see this over and over.

Careful out there people. Cancel CC you are not currently using. I have just had a disturbing incident about a CC account I CLOSED AMLOST TWO YEARS AGO. The CC company used my info from my CLOSED ACCONT ACCOUNT TO ALLOW A SCAMMER TO USE MY INFO TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT. ALSO TELL ANY CC COMPANY YOU EVER HAD EVEN CLOSED ACCOUNTS TO NEVER SEND THEIR SPECIAL PREAPPROVED OFFERS. Those offers in the mail can be stolen and utilized.

Scammers sit around and think up new BS to use while we decent people are busy working and taking care of our families. Puts us at a distinct disadvantage, doesn't it? I nearly got scammed recently by theives who ordered gold coins on a website I used and tried charging to the card on file. The vendor sent me a confirmation of the order (to be shipped to a different address than mine using my name), which I quickly stopped by calling the vendor and informing them of the scam. Not sure how they found my account with this vendor. Sheriff would do nothing, even though I had the address where the shipment was going to be delivered. No help from law enforcement. They told me there is too much scamming to look into each case!!!@#$?? I closed the bank account associated as a precaution and moved my money. I removed any and all payment forms from anyone who had that on file, etc. Without LE doing their job the thieves have a pretty easy job of ripping all of us.

Looks like a dying area. The KFC across the street is now boarded up. The business adjacent to this building has moved. Commercial space is in the toilet. Better to invest in most anything else.

Yeah and by upping the rate on the existing Fencing business And cutting the rental space in half will drive them off to!
