That was the best explanation of how to (not) strip set I've ever heard, thanks man. I have that same exact tendency to strip then sweep, also coming from a gear background. And to the people hating the music, there's this amazing feature on TH-cam and your computer. It's called the "mute" button. It actually turns off the sound whenever you want. Technology is incredible, isn't it?
Great video. Finally I found someone that tells the reality of fishing for big peacock bass! I have a lot of experience in Colombia and everything that you have described was spot-on! You should come to Colombia some time!
Only recently found your ch, very good work! Keep it up! Descriptions and explanations are alittle long but detail'd and that's OK... Please do more. Your field work is as informative as your bench work 👍
Your content is very authoritative yet your presentation and explaination using simple physics and what those vectors impart upon the fly behavoir are so simple to follow and 'get". I hope you know how talented you really are? Tell the dog I said hi.
Okay I bit twice on the pictures identified with your videos. Hoping to see some catching in peacock bass. You obviously have it down to catch these monster fish. Would like to see you catching them.Got any of those videos?
No respect from those bass chewing you up like that... but then I guess that you started the fight :-) Glad that you enjoyed the trip - hope you share some more (without that music(?) please)
Great video awesome series. Love my Flycraft 3 man looks like a great option in the jungle. Any chance you can share the non-slip again. It was out of the frame and it looks way easier than traditional way to tie it.
Gunnar, really enjoy your videos, very informative and helps to advance people's tying skills. Would you tie the tube glider that was productive on the Amazon.
Great video! Definitely one of the most informative I’ve seen. What time of year was it when you were there? I’m going to Manaus in the beginning of September and then I think it’s about a 2-3 hour drive to the fish camp. I believe the water level is going to be on the low side. I have a Gloomis Pro4x Short stick 9/10 wt and NRX 8 and 10 wts. I’m not sure which line for that time of year. The outfitter isn’t really a fly guy so I’m trying to get some pointers on what to bring. I’ll probably throw some spinning rods as well. Any advice you can offer is much appreciated. Thanks for sharing.
Hey man, this was First week of Oct. High water year which I fished a Sink 3 line the entire time. Nomadic Waters typically recommends Intermediate lines for average or low water years. Those rods will be perfect. For gear, best thing my week was 6" shallow lipped Jerk Baits (www.cabelas.com/product/YOZURI-HYDRO-MINNOW/2671103.uts?productVariantId=5422857&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04944844&rid=20&ds_rl=1252079&ds_rl=1252079&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItKuy6N7k4wIVAr3sCh3HvQnUEAQYBSABEgIC5fD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds), ripped hard and fast with moderate pauses. Other than that, bucktail jigs! White and Chartreuse with lot of Silver were money!
Agree that you have talent. You distilled 20 years of trial and error into a short video. I also hope Nomadic Waters share their advertising budget with you. I know it’s not why you do these videos, there is just the practical side of life, like rent and fishing trips.
Gunnar -- tht loop is the old "Homer Rhode Loop Knot." I've used it for a few decades. The knot has infrequently come loose, but I probably made some unknown mistake in those cases. I still use it often, so obviously it's mostly reliable, at least. I agree with the other folks; the music is unbelievably rotten garbage. However, I don't agree that it's music at all. It's just a weapon that you use to harm us as much as you can on youtube. That's the truth, isn't it?
Gunnar, not only do you tie excellent flies, you are a good teacher. Good job!

Bill, you Sir are awesome! Thanks man!
Hey Gunnar. Those fish are crazy powerful! Loved the killer simple loop knot. That will be my go-to loop knot from now on. Thanks.

Outstanding tutorials bro, very useful, I’m just doing bass fly fishing. But this is definitely going to help me have better action when l go out.
Great informative tutorial Gunnar & the Amazon is on my bucket list destination. Tight lines bro!👍🎣

Awesome video Gunnar. Makes me miss the water now that the ice is on in MN. We need to get you out in the drift boat on the mississippi this summer.

Nice video! Thanks for sharing! I can tell that you have had some kind of technical training by your vocabulary! Keep up the great work Brother!

Great vid! What size behemoth reel is That?
How many feet is the rod?
With 40 pound mono, wouldn't your fly line snap before the leader?
Did you ever try to water?
Are you using tapered leaders?
your loop knot looks like the Homer Rhode non slip look knot
I fished a 10 wt. in the Rio Negro and the piranhas kept eating all the fur off my flies.
Good stuff bud....beast fish!! Some day....
Awesome video ...
Nice, love the intro music. Bad ass.
