      yes, chinese metro systems are very impressive. mostly out of an absolute need for them. without a metro shanghai would not function as well.

      In fact, many plans of Shanghai Metro can not meet the demand of urban public traffic when they are completed. We have many shortcomings and hard injuries in design. Therefore, although Shanghai metro system is the largest in China, it is still far away from the world-class. We need to work hard for a long time to reach the rail transit construction level of Tokyo, New York and other developed cities. Let's keep moving!

    You could also have changed to line 3 at the next station after 28:25 because it's much easier, all you have to do is get off and wait for the next train which is Line 3 to arrive.
    It's one of the best systems, however they could really improve the English announcements. The English announcements only announce the most basic information, while the announcements in Chinese also reminds people to leave the priority seats to those in need, and to be aware of the operating hours of the line you are transferring to.

      Seeing the platform doors are made by the same company as the Guangzhou and Singapore metro you'd think they are automatic but in Shanghai, they are not for some reason. That's why it takes up to 15 seconds to open the doors or to leave because the operator has to leave the cab and open both doors separately.

      The original Shanghai Metro cars are from Germany so it makes sense that it sounds like a European underground train. But after all electric motors all sound similar.

    In fact, many plans of Shanghai Metro can not meet the demand of urban public traffic when they are completed. The technology of metro train originated in Japan or German and they needs to be further improved to meet the local conditions. The subway network is not intelligent enough, and the platform design is not modern enough, so it is very congested during the peak period. The operation and maintenance of the underground railway system has some shortcomings and often lead to equipment failures.
    We have many shortcomings and hard injuries in design. Therefore, although Shanghai metro system is the largest in China, it is still far away from the world-class. We need to work hard for a long time to reach the rail transit construction level of Tokyo, New York and other developed cities. Let's keep moving!

    • @urbanaboveground
      @urbanaboveground  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      very interesting and well thought out comment. actually the first metro in the world was in London not japan or germany. and yes while you made some good points about nothing really new or innovative about the shanghai metro that solves shanghai transit problems, shanghai metro is none the less very clean, fast and ever growing. hopefully those problems you mentioned can be solved but i guess it will take time and innovation. if there is anywhere in china that can lead the way, its shanghai.
