  • Wex Photo Video’s travel photography series returns. This time, travel photographer Matt Parry and our very own Kriss Hampton travel to India.
    Part II: Matt and Kriss take a short train ride from Delhi to Agra. Their first stop is Sheroes' Hangout, a café that supports the campaign to stop acid attacks. Here, Matt spends some time with the remarkable women who run the café and reminds us how travel photography can help support important causes.
    Poor lighting makes a trip to Agra Fort challenging, but the next day presents a beautiful haze, just in time for the pair's visit to one of the most famous buildings in the world, the Taj Mahal.

    I've traveled extensively throughout India on several occasions. As a photographer, it's one of the most magical places on the planet...hands down! It's also one of the most frustrating destinations you will ever experience. It was interesting to watch Matt wander around the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort and not really get a great shot. This happens a fair amount in India. You simply need to train yourself to relax and enjoy the moment. You may not come home with a particular image, but you'll have a lifetime of memories.

      So very true! Sometimes it is best to put the camera away for a bit and just enjoy the place!

    I had no idea how extensive acid attacks were. Good for you for highlighting these beautiful women. Leslie

      it used to happen more in the past... after lot of strict punishments and a lot of education men did learn a little to respect a woman's choice

      Thanks Leslie. It was a genuine privilege to meet them and it is well worth a visit if you are ever in Varanasi.

      Thanks Andy. The Sony system is superb for this sort of photography. Not cheap but worth it. Considering this is their "basic" camera it was amazing!

    Some of the shots are quite snapshot like but I love your enthusiasm. The 24-105 f/4 is a good lens but hardly gives any subject separation and in a place like India where it is so busy, it is difficult to take less busy photos

    • @mattparry6897
      @mattparry6897 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Sanch, I appreciate the honesty and you are quite right. I mention in the video that I struggled to get any shots i liked in Agra, despite how incredible the place is. We were really short on time and some days it just doesn't work out photographically! I was using the 24-70 f/2.8 mainly - Kriss was filming on the 24-105 f/4.

    Very nice videos👍
    But The colors on your photographs are not correct. They have a red color cast. The Taj Mahal is white, not red. What ist it?

    Your video is informative and very well shot 👍 Just want to add that the bench where people sit and take pictures against the iconic Taj has been a photo spot for many decades now! Princess Diana has nothing to do with it! You saying people want to 'recreate' that shot is wrong.

    • @mattparry6897
      @mattparry6897 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Ashish. I guess that is how I've always thought of it growing up as it was such an iconic image with her in but of course people will have done this for many years before her.

    Next time, please correct the map of India, Go to some official Indian website for actual map....It sometimes hurts us to see incomplete map of the country.
