Hi Kepler. You might have noticed in Google maps that the town of Enniskillen is a Island surrounded in water in lough erne. It has 6 Bridges that link it to the mainland, as a result it doesn't has a bypass, making the traffic through the town very busy. It's in the middle of upper and lower lough erne. The wee red boats and the water bikes are for people who just turn up. Basic instructions. Just outside the town are other larger, better value boats for hire that are pre-booked for a half or full day,, with full instructions, as they will travel further into the open lough.. There are also Large Cruisers for 8 people that are hired by the week which are expensive and you must pay extra for insurance. The odd thing about the video is that Peter's boat is not a hire boat and he was the one who was in the wrong and because he lost his temper, that cause him to fall out of his seat. To this day, Peter doesn't know that he's on youtube.
What are the chances? I dont know how this came on my feed but as soon as I saw it I recognised where it was. The road opposite is the Sligo Road. He introduced me to a sport I would enjoy for the next 30 odd years.
So what? Not much really happened. The title assumes there's more. It appeared the blue boat was crossing the river directly in front of the red boat and then even shouting at the red one. If there are boats to hire without a license at all I'd make a good way around them anyway.
Don't the hire firms for the boats explain that internationally in a narrow body of water, the skipper must take the starboard (right hand) track, and when passing pass port to port.???

They don't have a clue on tide or wind, boating in the UK is on the opposite side of the river to that on the road, so instinctively they revert to road driving when their minds drift. The middle pedal doesn't work, that takes a hand movement. If a vessel is aiming to cross your path and they’re on your starboard - or right - side, they have the right of way. Alter your course so that you will pass them at a safe distance and in a way that is apparent to the other skipper If you meet another boat head-on: Under the boating rules of the road, vessels approaching each other head-on are always supposed to pass each other port to port - or left to left, just like on the road. However, crowded harbors and times when many boats come together at once make this difficult to follow all the time - stick to the rules as much as possible, but use your best judgment to keep everyone safe. If you’re on a “collision course” with another vessel: Remember, you must alter your course with ample time to safely avoid a collision, even if you are the stand-on vessel.
