The 'Bombed Out Church' of St Lukes's. May 1941 Blitz. Liverpool

St Luke's Church in Lucerpool was just one of hundreds of buildings destroyed by Blitz raids in World War 2. A bomb dropped into the church in May 1941, starting a fire that gutted the entire building but left the outer walls standing.
It was decided to leave the building standing as a preserved shell to commemorate those who lost their lives in the War.
80 years on, the building still stands and is now often open for visitors to walk through a piece of history that was almost lost forever.
