    Thanks for the reminder that I need to use more of my dehydrated things! The jars look so pretty when full of goodies though and it is very reassuring to have my own personal store in my spare room wall-to-wall cabinets. I just did a major spring clean last week and it all looks lovely.
    I inherited a big dehydrator from my parents years ago and you got me started on actually dehydrating things. Your channel is so organized and helpful.

    Hello Darcy from Chicago. I find that the most dissappointing find is an unlabled jar. I want to thank you for the latest newsletter. I'm going tthrough things to use by making seasoning and bouillions. I ground dry tomatoes to make my own tomato bouillion. I love your recipes, using the carmelized onions. The live was great.I love seeing the community being so supportive.❤❤

    ScienceAlert has an interesting article on orange peel and heart inflammation. I bruised my heart in a car accident a year ago. Without knowing the connection, I have been adding dried orange peel to yogurt, meat marinade, ice tea and water. I have been obsessed with drying oranges and eating the peels.

      Great video, Darcy! I’m at that point where I need to use/combine my dehydrated goods. I have 3 little shaker bottles with larger than average holes. I’ve been wondering for awhile what to do with them, but they seem perfect for my powders. I love eggs, but am not supposed to have the yolks, so adding the greens and other powders to the little shakers so I can more easily add them to my eggs makes me hardly miss the yolks. I will be starting on this project in the next couple of days. Thanks, as always for sharing! ❤

    Darcy you are so full of good ideas it's amazing! I hope you're doing well after your surgery and that you are continuing to improve. I will be getting all my stuff set up at the end of July when my daughter and her family move back to New York and I don't have to worry about little kiddos getting into my dehydrator and I will be cooking meals instead of her. Which I have loved. Thank you again for all you do for us!

    You mentioned that you still have a little light on the storage space. When my daughter broke her closet doors I couldn't afford to replace them. So I bought a twin size flat sheet and a spring curtain rod. Cut a small slit on the back side of the top of the sheet on both sides, slide the rod in and adjust it to fit tight. And if you don't have a sewing machine just trim the bottom as long as you need it. And if you use a dark colored sheet it will make your dry food pantry darker. When needed take it down wash and dry and put back up. That's what I did on a metal book shelf for my dehydrated jars. Works great!

    Thank you for this video! I've used a dehydrator for years but only been truly been using it for the last maybe 2 years...... before it was used sporadically with making jerky. Last year we purchased a bigger and much nicer dehydrator. I have jars and jars of cabbage, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and more and they are beautiful but I'm struggling with how to use them. I will check out your videos for the meals in jars, especially the eggroll in a bowl! Great video!!

    About a year and a half ago I was downsizing everything. My cookbooks were out of control, I stopped counting at 120! 🤷‍♀️ I’m down to 34 and I think a few more need to go. I get most of them (80% or so) from thrift stores.

      I was a thrift store cookbook collector and eventually started to scan the few good recipes from some books and donated them back. Those with cell phones/cameras can also take a pic to the page you want to keep.

      @@bluebirdgramma6317 Don't know why a govt. would take the grid down or why that would affect my saved scans???? I have some printed and most are saved to portable hard drives (with backup), so all I need is for my computers to keep working and read the files. Simple files so even my newest computer and 20 year-old laptop reads them all.

    Is there anyway to safely dehydrate eggs?

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Depends on what you mean by 'safely'. According to the NCHFP and other food safety pro's, no. BUT..educate yourself and make the decision for yourself. Here's more info: www.thepurposefulpantry.com/how-to-preserve-eggs/

    Your video gave me a kick in the butt to go check my dried products. I know that I need to get them more organized. What do you do with items that you most likely will not eat or has been on the shelf too long to do anything with?

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  หลายเดือนก่อน

      No - because they would have to be cooked first, then ground, but because I don't know what nutrition is still left because they are older, I'm not sure it is worth doing that. I have to check with some natural-medicine friends to see what they'd do.

    If I powder the oranges will the rinds make it bitter?

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      depends on how thick it is. The pith is what is bitter (white part) as well as the membrane (the part that separates and surrounds the segments), and it depends on how thick the pith is.
