Darcy, I pray for you to have a speedy recovery and get some rest also. Thank you for always working hard on your channel. I have learned so much from you. Many prayers! ❤
Fruit powder can also be used to make fruit flavored cakes and pancakes. If you're making a cake, I recommend adding fresh fruit juice as well to kick up the flavor
It would! Freeze dried powders dissolve a lot better than dehydrated ones, but given some time to settle in the hot water, the dehydrated will integrate pretty quickly.
I have an awesome sweet none stringy hybrid imported mango tree and every year I get about 100 quart jars of dehydrated mangos (most go in large vacuum sealed containers). I give them away as gifts and every year friends wait for them. I use the pulp for mango concentrate that I freeze to make mango juice all year. They are Candy.
Just last night I told a couple of friends I was going to the store to get some nice ripe fruit to dehydrate and make powder with for my homemade yogurt! I just started making yogurt again recently with a recipe that we both love more than anything else we have ever eaten, and adding different fruit flavors will be a wonderful flavor change. I used to make creamed honey, and I intend to that that again, too, as one of those friends has beehives! I made fruit powder to put in my creamed honey and gave away a lot as gifts. What;s better than having your own pure fruit powders to flavor other things and provide extra healthful benefits as well! I am going to open a can of my Thrive Life blueberries to start because they are just there waiting for something to happen to them other than the blueberry syrup I made a few days ago. I also have Thrive Life strawberries. Half the job is already done so I am way ahead of this game starting today! Darci thanks for the refresher on prepping the fruit. I live in Florida where those mangoes are hitting the supermarkets in large amounts and looking sooo tasty. I think its my new favorite fruit. I also drink mango nectar which is decadently delish. Have you powdered mango? Best wishes on your upcoming surgery! I hope it is totally uneventful and you feel much better soon!
We don't bother powdering the mango because it all gets eaten so quickly - but as long as it is dried very well, it will powder fine. Just have to manage storage with moisture absorbers as it can get clumpy.
I just tried making raspberry powder and holy smokes batman! That raspberry in your tea trick is really darn good! It actually made my disgusting, cheap, leftover, not-so-premium "premium" black tea tastes halfway decent! 😂 I'ma try it with the good tea next and see how much better it'll taste!
Today, at a school supply giveaway event, I was also given a big box of food, including a crate of mangoes. They're already overripe, and a few are even totally rotted on the inside, unfortunately, so I'm dehydrating what I can to make them last longer. The ones that are still edible are amazingly sweet, though, and I'm thinking of pureeing some into fruit leather. I also got a bunch of tomatillos, so I'll probably make some salsa verde for the first time. 😋 A whole bag of avocados and 3 packages of sliced mushrooms I'll probably dehydrate, too. I'm excited 😊
Thanks, I will probably freeze some mashed for guacamole and avocado toast. 😋 Do you think it will last more than 8 months if I decide to use some for baby food in the future?
I tried dehydrating raspberries (my favorite fruit) and it was a mess. I wish I would have thought of this before I wasted so many raspberries. I just needed freezer space
not everyone can handle the seeds, and too many can create a bitter after taste or make the powder gritty when you need it smooth. But you're welcome to give it a try to see if it doesn't bother you.
I use the freeze dryer for proteins of any kind (meat, cheese - future eggs...haven't done them, yet), full meals, and I'm still experimenting with other things trying to see if I prefer it dehydrated or freeze dried. We have a small list going of our preferences - and there have been a few things we prefer dehydrated (mushrooms, tomato chips) over freeze-dried. I prefer raspberries freeze dried in both snack and powder form. So - its really trial and error for those kinds of things.
@@ThePurposefulPantry thx, Darcy. Just trying to decide if I should invest in a freeze drier. Harvest right having a "sale" on reconditioned freeze driers. Have to make a fast decision😬
@@ThePurposefulPantry of course we will . Love raspberries but was surprised when we dehydrated and tasted . My grandson came up with the spider butt analogy and it stuck 😄

Thank you so much!
You are my dehydrating guru thank you
Good luck with surgery. Wishes for a quick recovery! Thanks for great information and ideas.
Thank you so much!

When you showed the dried powder after being strained, the first thing i thought of is "wow! That would make awesome real jello!"

Great idea!!!!

My family really enjoys freeze dried raspberries.
Pomegranate fruit leather. 7 pom + 1 lime. Kids will love it.
Do you strain the seeds out?

@@ThePurposefulPantry Thanks, Darci! I don’t mind it being a but soft since I’m going to put it it fresh yogurt anyway.
as a note: raspberries if you choose the right variety, grow well in a container on a patio!
I've been wanting to grow raspberries but can only do them in a pot. Didn't know there was a variety that would work that way. Do you know which kind?
I haven’t been brave enough to try cutting a mango myself - Darcy to the rescue (once again)!! Hoping all goes well!!
Thanks!
Well done, good work
Great video, as usual! Good luck with the surgery. Hope your recovery goes well! Fruit powder in yogurt is sooo good!
Thanks so much!
Thank you and I’m praying for your speedy recovery.

Isn't it awesome?!

The avocado won't be worth dehydrating, but you can freeze it! www.thepurposefulpantry.com/preserve-avocado/

Great demonstration, thanks!
You are welcome!
Love all these ideas. Thank you
Thank you for another great video. ❤🎉
You are so welcome!
You are so inspiring!
Try freeze drying them! The flavor intensifies and they’re delicious.
I already do ;)
Darcy, once again thank you for your videos. Good luck with your surgery?
Thanks!
I have a hand mango slicer, similar to an apple slicer.
I tried dehydrating raspberries (my favorite fruit) and it was a mess. I wish I would have thought of this before I wasted so many raspberries. I just needed freezer space
Very helpful! I wondering about removing the seeds. Is it need? Will it affect the end product if they are left in?
not everyone can handle the seeds, and too many can create a bitter after taste or make the powder gritty when you need it smooth. But you're welcome to give it a try to see if it doesn't bother you.
@@ThePurposefulPantry Thanks! I had not thought of the gritty effect.
Could you tell me what size oxygen absorber to use in the different sized Mason jars? Thank you
I don't use O2 absorbers - if I use something it will be a moisture absorber, and I use one size for all - 5 gram
Darcy, when/why do you choose to use a freeze dryer over the dehydrator?
I use the freeze dryer for proteins of any kind (meat, cheese - future eggs...haven't done them, yet), full meals, and I'm still experimenting with other things trying to see if I prefer it dehydrated or freeze dried. I love mine, and am glad I have it but you have to make the investment in time to use it, and use the product well to make the investment worth it!
Hi Darcy 👋🏻
What is the brand/model of this unit?
Of the dehydrator? Excalibur Performance 6 tray...always habe links in the description box for tools.
Raspberries feel like spider butts fuzzy and tasteless
But the powder is amazing...I hope you try it!
