Good vocal songs, sure, but much like other Rockstar games, the level music is just the same few repetitive notes looping over and over. Game composers today could definitely learn something from these old soundtracks.

Mountain Stage 2. I've spent years arguing with SNES heads that while their OST was the "better sounding" of the two (given the superior chip), this one had the better OST. And this Genesis-exclusive tune is one of the main reasons why. Stellar.

sounds very identical to the arcade soundtrack, even with the fm drums, i love it however, its missing that konami orchestral hit instrument, but then again, it might not sound that good with the sega genesis dac channel i also love how even though the genesis version isnt close to the arcade version in terms of how its levels are, they managed to get all of the songs from the arcade to the genesis, including two new original songs, which is pretty neat… i can imagine the orchestral hit instrument playing along with it, a bit of a shame that “the rosy setting sun” is a tone lower
Music is better than the SNES though, this is a bit closer to the Arcade, although the Arcade blows both away (duh, more memory and far better FM chip :)).
Konami went with a smaller cart for this game, instead of the 4 Mega they went with, an 8 meg would've been perfect, and we would've gotten more speech, and everything would've fit in nicely.
Am I right in saying that the theme for Sir Richard Rose is in 4/4 time and then goes into 5/4 time? Something I never took note of myself in the past!

Konami knew how to work with FM Sytnh, they had a long history of arcade gaames to fall back on for experience. The game however, showed that the team who worked on the Genesis version, was not the team Konami should've let work on the game. Couple that with a 4 MEG cart size, and it was a recipe for disaster. The Genesis version however, is seeing a fan redo, fixing everything wrong with the original Genesis version, courtesy of Pyron.

@dogen Except Konami arcade samples were pretty clean. Don't get me wrong, the FM instruments here are fantastic, but it certainly would've benefited from sampled drums + orchestra hits like in Hyperstone Heist.

I think this is Konami's first Mega Drive game.
Sadly, lots of game content missing from the arcade and SNES version.
