- १६८९ मध्ये छत्रपती संभाजी महाराजांच्या हत्येनंतर संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्र भूमीवर परचक्र येणार अशी परिस्थिती झाली होती. १६८२ ते १७०७ स्वतः आलमगीर औरंगजेब महाराष्ट्र भूमी संपवण्यासाठी झटत होता. १६९९ ते १७०५ स्वतः किल्ले मोहिमा काढल्या. पण छत्रपती संभाजी महाराजांच्या बलिदानाने पेटून उठलेल्या मराठ्यांनी या औरंजेबाचे मनसुबे उधळून लावले. तब्बल २५ वर्षे त्याला कठोर प्रतिकार केला. हेच मराठ्यांचे स्वातंत्र्यसमर. हट्टाने सुरु केलेल्या या मोहिमेचा अंत औरंगजेबाच्या मृत्यूने झाला.

खूपच छान माहिती दिली आहे . मराठ्यांच्या स्वातंत्र्य लढ्यात महाराणी ताराबाईंचे योगदान फार मोठे आहे. मराठ्यांचे नेतृत्व करून त्यांच्या कर्तृत्वाला त्यांनी दिशा दिली. पण त्यांच्या योगदानाचे मूल्यमापन नंतरच्या इतिहासकारांकडून झाले नाही.
माहिती फारच त्रोटक आहे.मराठ्यांचा स्वातंत्र्य संग्राम असं नाव असायला हवे होते.
महाराणी ताराबाई यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली मराठे लढले आणि मोगल बादशहा औरंगजेब चा पराभव केला म्हणून या सात वर्षे लढाईत महाराणी ताराबाई यांचा समावेश करणे आवश्यक आहे,

Interesting information. Thanks for sharing. One thing I want to share is that tourist guides in Delhi never says red fort was ever being conquered. But they says Red fort captured by offering bribe. But history books by Kaustubh kasture mention about red fort being attacked by Marathas and won. Here, mughals always came in big numbers and always win forts by giving bribes.
Guides in Delhi and for that matter everywhere else in India are notorious to provide information as suited to them.

I have one doubt. Didn't the Marathas surrender the forts after Maharani Yesubai was taken as a political prisoner by the Mughals?
Would like to know the above answer and also what all did the Marathas did after Raigad was overtaken by Aurangzeb(I mean what all treaty took place)

What all happened between 1689-1699 after the fall of Raigad?
Om G Before Raigadh was handed over to the Mughals, Chh. Rajaram and his Ministers escaped from the fort and made their way to the fort of Ginjee in present day Tamil Nadu. It took the mughals 7 years to capture Ginjee. The fort was handed to the Mughals in 1697 after Chh. Rajaram again escaped and came back to Maharashtra. Zulfikar Khan paid a huge sum to take the fort from the Marathas.
Same script was repeated elsewhere by the Marathas. They would hand over the forts after the food, water and ammunition was exhausted by taking money from the Mughals. Then after the Mughals restocked the forts the Marathas would promptly take back the forts. This tactic proved so effective that in the 25 years that Aurangzeb was here the Mughal Empire was bankrupted by this war.
