  • We put the decoys out in the dark. There was a fine draft of wind then. As the morning went on, the wind didn't settle. This is a.salt water bay.

The SSV is nice and deep with a great beam. Put on a 35hp and you can really move along. What a great boat.

Thart winds gotta be blowing 20-25 mph mate. That's a GOOD boat right there!

Here in B.C. when we set our gill nets out, we usually catch salmon. Ducks taste good too though, so that's good.

that boat is very stable in order for the operator to stand in those conditions. Well done !

Emberley, I had myself convinced on the 1650 Lund laker because of the wide beam for stability , its 80 inches or so at transom. but after watching this video of 16 ssv, I might change my mind.

@@rayk.5833 my young fella is good on his feet in the boat to.
I'd suggest if you get the chance to size them both up. A lot of people use the SSV 16 in Newfoundland. They are a good old boat. We tend to put our boats through it good or bad.

hows that new 25hp working out ? I see some 16 ssv with a 40 hp, seems like it would be to heavy for a tiller set up.

One of the guys I know has a 30 Yamaha on his SSV 16. He told me with the motor, gas, battery and himself. It's a lot of weight.
I only had 1 run in the boat since I put the 25 on it.
One thing I did notice, the cavitation plate on the 20 was about 3 inches below where it should have been.
The cavitation plate on the 25 is exactly where it should be.
The 25 is only 15 pounds heavier than the 20. It feels very good on the boat. I havent given it a good run yet as it only has a few hours use.
I had the boat with 2 of us aboard and lots of gear at 22 mph. Once on plane it stays on plane very easy.
I had hoped.to have a better review by now and the first service done. The 25 is nice and light and the boat responds well.to it.
Soon as I get some hours on it, i will do another review.

@@peteremberley6314 , yeah. the cav plate being that low is no good. Im looking foward to the 25hp video. ^5

Soon as I get an opportunity to, I'll do a video and upload it.
Weather hear has been terrible. Hopefully it will soon clear up.

The 25 Yamaha is an excellent fit for the 16 SSV. Motor is not overly heavy and the boat responds very well with the 25. I still havent had the opportunity to do a decent video of the boat and motor combination.
We were out in our 20 foot Coastal and we hit a humpback whale. We came close to capsizing and I took a pretty bad fall and injured my back.
I'm finally coming around and hope.to have a video soon.

Man I like that boat. Would a 14 ft be harder or easier to get on plane? That 16 sure handles waves.
