      RoyPow is a subsidiary of EVE, so I've been under the impression EVE is either manufacturing the battery pack itself or weighs in heavily on it. Just an educated guess though.

      The battery featured in this video is the result of an ongoing collaborative partnership between Epoch Batteries & RoyPow. We regularly collaborate on batteries such as these and many others which are yet to be released (and will be exclusive to Epoch Batteries). Their quality control really speaks for itself and this video demonstrates that exceptionally well.

      Many boaters and RV currently use group GC2-6volt batteries in a four cell parallel/ series configuration to achieve 12 volts for their household electrical needs. These deep cycle lead batteries are an ideal size, weight, and capacity, but there is no lithium battery that is a direct replacement for these. Many golf carts also use the GC-2 group batteries as well. This is an overlooked market that is eager for a lithium battery in 6 volt GC-2 size

    Please do a video on 12v battery chargers. I bought bought Roypow chargers (14.4v/3a and 14.4/15a). Also got an Epoch 12v/15amp IP67 charger to use as my onboard boat charger. Got all 3 for about the same cost as a Vectron IP65.
    A “12v charger shootout” would make a great video… comparing “budget chargers” voltages, cycles, and ability to “wake up” a sleeping BMS like Roypow claims both of theirs are able to do.

    Hmm I get its submersible and waterproof but what if you have this mounted on the exterior tongue of your camper trailer? The battery connections would totally be exposed to the elements.. So I would need to put this battery box in a box? Am I way off here?

    • @LithiumSolar

      Yes, it still needs to be in a box in that case. It's waterproof to the extent that it can get splashed but it's not intended to be submerged, get rained on constantly, etc.

    The Noko Genius 10x4 with lithium settings doesn’t seem to play well with this battery. I received the 100ah battery with 17% power and hooked it up for 9 hours on the noko. When I returned to the battery, I had a fault display on the app reading “fully charged” with red background. The Noko charger itself had 12v Repair mode illuminated in orange and green indicator light pulsing on. No clue what’s going on.

    Do you think this would be a good battery to use in a 5th wheel application? It would be used to run lights and some inverter outlets. My question is would it be able to start a 55000 watt generator that draws 200 amps in rush and 100 amps to start the generator? I would like to hook 2 of them up in parallel. Thanks.

I was intrigued with the Epoch and it had better features than many of the more well known batteries on the market. Of big concern was the safety features of the different batteries. Your video accomplished easing my safety concern. The cost is even cheaper than other Bluetooth enabled batteries. I’ll be ordering the 24V 100AH Epoch to run my 24V trolling motor. The fact that they label it as an "Li-ion" is not going to help the confusion in the marine world between the 'LFP' vs other lithium chemistries. I know it's pedantic, but that really bugs me. Good looking battery otherwise.

    • @LithiumSolar
      @LithiumSolar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I feel completely the opposite. LiFePO4 is a lithium ion chemistry, so it is labeled correctly. I think a better way to address it would be if we started saying NMC, LCO, etc. We're already used to talking about batteries this way for LFP and LTO. I don't understand why we lump everything else into a more generic bucket. It would completely eliminate confusion.

      @LithiumSolar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've pretty much been exclusively using the AIMS chargers. They have two versions, a 12/24V and a 36/48V. I have both and they've been rock solid. As for the BigBattery's, might be worth asking them even if the spec sheet says not to. It was my understanding that they could be series connected but it's just discouraged - definitely something you'd want their confirmation on though before doing.

    I received mine a few weeks ago, so far so good. Was quite disturbed that the manual says that it can't get wet or be used in a wet environment. This is completely against why I bought a waterproof battery in the 1st place, to be in the standard position on a travel trailer. The tabs prohibit it to fit in any battery box that I can find, so made a box of wood, negating the weight savings & spending extra $. Other than that, it's ok. The app works, although I have to force quit it each time I use it, so the battery will show up. Can't seem to figure out how to, if possible, to rename it.

    Thanks for this informative review. It is always helpful to state the full charged voltage (14.6V or other) and the steady state, full charge at rest after X amount of time (13.4V or other) for LiFePO4 chemistry. Some manufacturers of trolling motor batteries use 16.5V+ (Li-ion and not LiFePO4). Labeling a battery 12V is completely uninformative/misleading.

      The charge and nominal voltage information is readily available on their website and in the included manual. Additionally, LiFePO4 is Li-Ion.

    I ordered one of these batteries after watching this review and looking at the Epoch web site. The web site seemed to be well done and legitimate. After the battery was delivered, I quickly discovered it did not work. There is a on/off button that must be switched on before the battery will work to deliver voltage. The battery would not turn on after multiple attempts of following directions in the very bare user manual. Calling Epoch on phone number supplied in user manual resulting in a weird music recording and then a disconnect. There was no opportunity to connect to a customer service rep or to leave a message. I then emailed customer support and in a reply was told to leave a number for them to call. Hours later I received a call to review the problem. After going through some trouble shooting tasks the battery would not turn on. The Customer service rep admitted the Epoch company is new in business and is trying to establish a customer base. He also admitted that the batteries are not tested before shipping so there is no way to know if you are getting a battery that works or does not work. Additionally, the photo's representing the batteries are misleading. I ordered a 50 AMP hour battery. The pictures on the web site for the 50 AMP hour battery appear to be smaller than the 100 AMP hour battery. I was unpleasantly surprised to discover the 50 AMP Hour battery comes in a very large 100 plus Amp hour case. Obviously there is a one size fits all on battery boxes in an effort to reduce costs. It has become obvious to me the TH-cam video producer made a complimentary review because he received a free battery. He obviously did not vet the company EPOCH otherwise he would have learned they are new in business and incompetent. The Epoch company from my view is pushing cheap Chinese made lithium batteries onto the unsuspecting public and this TH-cam video reviewer is aiding and abetting them. I have asked for a return for full credit on this battery that will not even turn on. To everyone considering buying one of these batteries I give you this warning. Do it at your own peril. My battery did not work and now I have to suffer the consequences of not doing my proper due diligence. There is a reason the Epoch battery is so cheap. It is pure junk and does not work.

      This is very disappointing to hear. Epoch is indeed a new company but is related to the "18650 Battery Store" folks, which have an outstanding reputation from MANY customers, not just myself. Epoch batteries are built by RoyPow, which is a subsidiary of EVE Energy themselves. It's possible that it was just a defective battery. Have they honored the advertised 30-day return policy?

      @@LithiumSolar The battery will be returned for credit. We will see how difficult it will be to get credit to my PayPal account. There is no possibility to get a customer service rep by calling. Calling the phone number listed only takes one into a black hole. . Only email communications until someone calls me. I do not see how this can be considered an outstanding reputation. And it is obvious that quality control on these battery products is lacking since I have a non working battery.

      The battery mentioned here was handled roughly in transit, resulting in a loose connection internally which prevented the power button from functioning properly. The battery has since been exchanged. Upon inspecting the battery, discovering the loose connection, and reconnecting it - the battery performed normally. Our batteries are inspected post-production and again before leaving our warehouse to ensure full functionality. The handling of our batteries in transit however is unfortunately beyond our control.
      We’ve been involved with lithium batteries for many years and price competitively to appeal to a wider audience. While we are a newer brand, we’re here to stay, and aim to provide swift and effective support to all of our customers. There were in fact technical difficulties related to the previously listed support number that we were not aware of. Those issues have since been resolved and a new number has been listed on our website, in our updated manual, and on our app.
      We hope that you’ll accept our sincerest apologies, Gene. Had we known about the technical difficulties, we would’ve been able to provide a much quicker resolution. We hope the replacement battery is meeting or exceeding your needs and would like to encourage you to please feel free to reach back out to us anytime. We genuinely appreciate your business and intend to prove that through excellent service.
