What a coincidence, I was looking at these headphones last night and watched few reviews and wanted to know how they compare to the mt5 due to your review and here you answer my wish 😊 . Thank you.

I own the mk2’s and love them, comfy, light and I like the reference sound signature so I can tune the EQ to my liking. The only thing Ive done is swap the ear cups to felt ones.

I have the mk2's that my mum got from her dad that passed. i went to plug them into my pc but the jack is like some big bulb shaped one.... i was confused on what you are supposed to use them with, if you could fill me in it would be appreciated.

Thanks for this - I bought a pair of the original K550 a few years ago to use for recording, where I really needed something closed-back to avoid leakage, and the sonic qualities were less important. They did a good job in that context, though the earpads are falling apart now, unfortunately.

I wonder where I can get good replacement earpads. They don't sell them and the counterfeit ones are bad.

And what about the K553 MKII model? any info or review you consider in future maybe Damir? Because it comes with a detachable cable at last.

So, what are the alternative closed back cans that will do the job better in similar price range (from 150 to maybe 300)? Or how big step-up in price you have to do to get something better and what are they? The main need would be that they are closed back, full-sized headphones. I've tested a couple of Beyerdynamics and they won't do because of piercing heights.

  • @thiscorrosion900

Another problem is driving cans like the Audeze LCDs and a lot of planars, and the fact that most are open-backed, a lot of people are not going for those for any portable usage,
and don't want the bother of having to amp them. Which, you will have to do. So cans like the AKGs here are much more versatile, for portable or otherwise, and a lot easier to drive
from various devices. And as opposed to AKGs open monitor Ref. type headphones, which really aren't intended as portable headphones, either, particularly. So the tradeoff
is you can take these anywhere, don't necessarily have to amp them, but they'd benefit from one, of course. And they're a bit bulky but nothing like the Audeze monsters. Some
guy at Apple Store told me two years ago oh the Audeze are used often by people for portable walking around use, I was like, are you serious? I wouldn't. And, they're a ton more money,
    as well.

Do you think k553 mk2 sounds same as k550 mk3(both detachable wire) and k553 pro same as k550 mk2(both non detachable wire..)?

90 euros on ebay from cyberport (mkiii) . What a bargain? I've heard cyberport are fishy. What do you think? I saw the box on the back haha. Whatever I already ordered.. :) I think you have to give them a break-in time and they will eventually have the same sound. Maybe you can shuffle the pads and see if it makes any difference. AKG says it's the same driver. The other thing is detachable cable, that's the big thing. I'm not paying 100 more for that though.

I disagree. The AKG K550 is the most comfortable headphone i have ever worn. I can hardly feel the headband, and i can wear them for 5 hours straight without even feeling they are there

Which very neutral sounding headphones would you rec for me to check out? I'm an amateur recordist who records and then masters acoustic classical - from solo clarinet, violin or piano...to 80-piece student symphony orchestras. So neutral, clear sound with flat, detailed but least boosted lows, mids and highs...most useful for post processing.

Got the m40x, hated them (overwhelming bass, scooped mids, 0 soundstage, terrible for monitoring), returned. Bought k550 mkII for 115€ shipped, couldn't be happier. Amazing headphones. Great for mixing and monitoring, great comfort.

BrecMadak It was completely brand new with all the accessories and the jack was included as well, despite what the description said, but I can't guarantee that it will be the same for you. The same seller has this same product listed as 'New' but for a higher price, so you can go with that if you want to be sure.

COMPLETELY agree! Well, I should say I had the same experience with the M50X not M40X, but I believe they are very similar right? But yeah.......literally everything you said like 0 soundstage etc is 100% true!! The K550 headphones however were like the complete opposite, and nicer looking too.

@@TheNitpicker Yeah these are much better than the bose's. Only problem I got is my ears touch the insides of the cups. Like my ears fit fully inside but not that deep, hard to explain I don't speak english that well. But I also compared these to my father's bose qc35 and they suck audio quality wise. 400€ headphones like the heck bose, yes they are wireless but still the sound on them is so muffled. I'm happy with my purchase even though 3 days later these were on sale for 50€ less, original cost was 180€ so it is a big portion of the price.

Every JBL S500 & S700 and my AKG K550 MkII's that I own have very flimsy pads and cushions, I had to get replacements from china off ebay for most my degraded pads, otherwise there good headphones, just not as reliable as my velour pairs of sennheishers
