    I saw this guy in a musical instruments store just outside Baltimore like over twenty years ago explaining the Motif 6 Not too long after that I bought a Motif 6, which I still use today.

    Motif was actually the first Yamaha synth where acoustic sounds really sounded like the real acoustic instrument. In previous models samples where so heavily compressed that acoustic sounds didn't really sound acoustic.

      Let's just say Yamaha was the first the Tyros and a few other boards they made in the mid to late 90s

    When I tried the original Motif, I was honestly extremely underwhelmed. When the Motif ES was released, I was completely overwhelmed! The ES had those phenomenal mega voiced guitar and bass voices, as well as a vastly expanded fx section where you could have to to 8 separate multi fx at once when using the instrument multi timbrally. The polyphony was increased by more than double to 128 voices up from 62. It really was a huge step forward from the original Motif IMHO.

    Even the original Motif the Motif Classic is still a fantastic synthesizer/workstation. I recently bought
    a Motif Xs6 so that means I will have all the functionality and capibility of previous Motifs plus a few
    extra features and more sounds. Many professional musicians still use Yamaha Motif which was what
    lead me to buy a Motif Xs6, if your using it for midi sequencing it is the perfect midi controller to use
    with Cubase plus with VST instruments you can improve and expand upon what you already have inside
    the Motif, it also has the ability to control outerboard midi gear such as a drum machine, sound module
    or another keyboard.

    My 'go to' keyboard, had it for years, never disappoints. I probably have not heard all the voices yet, believe me, I listen to them.

    The main difference is that the MOTIF(6) is a sampler (arranger keyboard with sampling unit).
    The MO6 has no sampling unit. But the MO6 has more flexible and modern preset pattern/arranger styles so that you are more flexible on composing different music styles on the fly.The sound engine is roughly the same.The main difference is if you need to sample your own sounds and things..for live performances etc... I use the MOTIF6 for that reason-for backing vocal samples on stage.

    @ForceStudios Greetings. I have a Motif 7 (classic) and would like to know how one imports a midi file saved on a computer. I have a USB-midi cable but what are the steps needed for there is hardly any info useful on the subject for the classic Motif.
    Appreciated.

    Hi.
    UnfortunateIy I don`t work with the internal sequencer of the Motif ´cause I simply use `em as an external sample&sequence&sound-player for "on the fly-composing" and he was a gift of a friend for a few weeks ago (without a manual). For so far I haven`t dealt with it (to import midi-files).
    Typically it should work with midi-bulk or midi dump request but do not ask me how&where to find this function in the menu :D
    The navigation is very unusual with the Motif :(

    Is this synth multitimberal? I cant record more than 1 voice in logic, when I change sound on 1 track, all sounds from the mo6 gets changed....

  • @Will313J
    @Will313J 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the Motif explain how the sound is made? I love the Pulse Wound and Foreplay sound. I tried to create that sound in Propellerhead Reason but no luck. I bought a Yamaha Motif Refill pack but it was not a good buy for me. There was only one note velocity.
    I love how the sound changes on different velocities. Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

      All Sounds in MOTIF are made of samples. My XF7 got up to 8 Elements per sound, so I can build a new sound by using up to 8 different Waveforms. There´s no Oscillator working, you may change the LFO for each waveform

    I do not get it. He says there are over 800 sounds within the Motif, but when you look at the specs on other websites like Yamaha or Wikipedia, it has 384 sounds. What?

    • @Cvb_Scoop
      @Cvb_Scoop 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sean Kalifut it has 800 wave sounds but only 300+ programs/voices ... some programs are a combination of waves... but you can mix and match to make u r own programs

    • @seankalifut9948
      @seankalifut9948 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hugh Carter I gathered that three years ago. He said sounds which is another term for presets or programs. I knew he messed up in his terminology. Since I own an XF, I know how hard it is for people to confuse waveforms and the actual presets.

    • @BioSoftStudios

      steflova2 motif has audio inputs and sampling
      Mo6 doesn’t have that

    The only huge complaint I have against modern keyboards is your limited to their 700 or 1,000 amazing sounds or voices, where can I buy a keyboard where I can load samples into and alter them

    800 voices? How many of them are worthless, like the ones I have on my PSR E-333? Gunshots? People burping? Really, Yamaha!

    • @BioSoftStudios
      @BioSoftStudios 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By God's Grace I own a motif and I love them for a special reason
      I don’t know why but I always felt every sound has a different DNA because of the synth engine
      I mean okay, it’s not as powerful as today’s awm2 engine but it was a very demanding keyboard back then as it still is today

      Sean Kalifut 1,024 Waveforms............from these waveform
      people who know..........can make any sound posible
      read and get into programing.......then read winkipedia

    • @seankalifut9948
      @seankalifut9948 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Juan Roca I was not talking about the waveforms. I was talking about presets. The Motif Classic has 384 presets (voices). Like I said, I have a Motif XS and I am amazed by what it can do, so I am not complaining about the number of voices in the Classic. I just thought it was funny that Allen Gore (who is a product specialist) said that the Classic had over 800 presets (voices) when it has 384. You took my comment as a complaint and that was the wrong interpretation on your part. Name calling and scolding should not be who you are. Once again, I thought what Allen Gore said was funny. What is so difficult about that?

    • @seankalifut9948
      @seankalifut9948 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean Kalifut One more thing. I listed Yamaha's website in my original comment and the site says 384 presets. It was not a complaint about the number of sounds. I listed more than one website to show that the specs are the same between a company's website and a fully editable one. Sounds like you need to get off your Wikipedia argument and focus on what people write! LOL!! Stay cool my friend!
