I'm getting a Prologue for my wife. It will be used for day to day, no long trips anticipated. This seems like too much work. Road tripping with my Tesla: I hold down the right button on the steering wheel, say 'navigate to LOCATION' and just go. All Supercharger stops are automatically added to the drive as necessary. Takes maybe 3 seconds? I never have range anxiety because there are so many choices where to charge.
I have owned 3 Teslas. They are easier. The Prologue is like this too, as long as you trust Google and set up the navigation settings appropriately. The point of the video was to educate owners of the available options and how to find them.
Thanks Adam. I have to agree with another commenter that was somewhat off-putting as an experience. Access to Tesla superchargers will undoubtedly create issues to due the charge port location vs Tesla supercharger short charge cord. However if you can get an end spot or access from the backside you won't be taking up 2 spots. I can see issues ahead when non tesla EVs clog up Tesla Supercharge locations. I'm currently waiting for my adapter to checkout the Blazer EV compatibility with Tesla superchargers. It works fine at home on a level 2 Tesla universal charger with the charger set to compatibility mode (no more cannot charge messages).

I haven't tried the schedule on my prologue yet. I have a chargepoint charger and I tried the schedule on the chargepoint app and it didn't work. I can start and stop charging from the app but for some reason scheduling it to start did not work. I just go out into the garage after 8 or so and plug it in and let it charge to whatever I've set the car to. Our electricity is 7 cents a kwh so pretty cheap. The PUD does not appear to have a different rate for what they consider peak times but I figure after 8 pm is probably pretty safe if they do.

Hi Adam, I'm using the level 1 charger at home. Is there any way to measure exactly how many kilowatts are being pulled? Trying to calculate how much money in electricity I'm using. I know it takes roughly a 10 hour charge to go from 72% to 80%. Thanks!
The HondLink app will show your exact volts and amps. You can multiply the watts you get as a result by the length of time you were charging in number of hours expressed as a decimal. If your level 1 is 120v and 8 amp that’s 960 watts or 0.96 kW. If you charge at that rate for 5 and a half hours, then multiply 5.5 times 0.96, that’s 5.28kWh. Hope this helps.
I am getting used to it. It is fairly intuitive, and for the most part does a good job. I don’t like being told where to charge, but that’s a me problem
@@Aslash304 I think I do a similar approach as you. I verify using PlugShare. Also now that I have access to Tesla charging network when possible I try to prioritize that as I know, I will get reliable charging there.

It’s not as good as you claim here where I live, but it is improving. The Prologue can use the supercharger network now, as well. It’s unashamedly covered with extreme detail on this channel.
Is Supervised Full Self Driving cost $8000 extra ?
@@sas7388 yes, or $99 per month. But we don’t pay for it at all. Instead, at least 3 times, we have been given a free 30 day trial.
@@sas7388 Most people get the $99/month plan. Very much worth it IMO. I've been using it every day since v12 was released. It's updated regularly and the current versions are pretty amazing.
Yeah, I was in the market for a EV but I’ll be getting a hybrid instead.
Sorry to hear it
It's not that bad. There's a little bit of learning required but the thing is so does a combustion engine, people just don't realize everything they've learned over the years
Add 45 min planning charge stop mapping
Thanks for your comment
Man... Tesla has me spoiled. That lack of interoperability would be so frustrating.
It is. My last car was a model Y.
I won't even look at the Honda for my next vehicle. That experience would annoy me tremendously.
@@KamikazeeNYCroad trips are annoying. 80-90% of driving is effortless.
Enjoying your videos! But I'm curious why you don't put the actual charging station in GPS. Does this car not " prepared for fast charging " thanks
Great question: With a max of 150 there’s no need. Also, the chargers I’m going to are either capped by the voltage of the car or the amps at the charger to the point that there’s absolutely no use in preconditioning. Go to 11 minutes and 15 seconds in this video to learn more about why preconditioning this car will do nothing unless it’s really cold out: th-cam.com/video/v8fzyVfuw7E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0FA1TTsCbM5i03vY
@Aslash304 thats very interesting, but such bad charging speeds looks like miss.
@@Aslash304 Thanks!
How do you like the prologue google route planning ?
I am getting used to it. It is fairly intuitive, and for the most part does a good job. I don’t like being told where to charge, but that’s a me problem
@@Aslash304 I think I do a similar approach as you. I verify using PlugShare. Also now that I have access to Tesla charging network when possible I try to prioritize that as I know, I will get reliable charging there.
But I find the percentage left at my destination showing on Google maps seems to be very accurate and somewhat conservative making sure I will have at least that amount left, but I’ve only put a few thousand miles on my car so far so maybe that will change as I drive it more and get more experience with it
@@EvMan6466 Google maps is conservative for sure
@@Aslash304I would just use Tesla chargers to save any grief. Thoughts?
Hey Adam, appreciate your analysis. Good lease deals are going on Chevy Equinox EV so I have a 2021 Honda Accord and was planning to sell my Honda and go with the Equinox. When I reached to Honda dealer, they said they could give me the same deal on the prologue if I traded in my car and they mentioned they could give good trade-in value. I am from the California Bay Area. Is it a good deal to go with prologue over equinox or go with equinox? I am confused. Could you please let me know your thoughts?
The battery pack is the same. The range is within 20 miles. It’s really about which one you like the looks of better, and if you want Apple CarPlay, which the equinox doesn’t have. Check out my deep dive on the Prologue here to learn more about it: th-cam.com/video/v8fzyVfuw7E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Kk3teeZx3HJkU6Fg
@@Aslash304 Thanks for the response. I like the prologue but my only concern is charging. If I can ask could you please let me know how long you have been having prologue and did you had any hard time regarding charging or range? Is the range accurate? One of my friends has an equinox and he confirmed that the range is accurate.
@@KondalAlampally Range is always based on how you drive. I always get more than the EPA says because I drive slowly. My lifetime miles per kWh is 3.4.
Tesla owner since 2019 now also have a prologue it’s horrifying how bad the infrastructure is on non Tesla HORRIFYING in would say road tripping in my Tesla was on par or even easier than ICE i wouldn’t dare in my prologue
The Prologue can use the Supercharger network. th-cam.com/video/xA7HXHhR8LA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Rv-m2PzYhThWqAak check this one out.
Wow
Thanks for watching
Just demonstrating why I won't buy these PIA's. My plug-in clarity is as close as I want to become to this hassle.
Can't wait for Toyota or others to release better tech than this electric junk. But I have the feeling the "powers" won't allow that to happen.
Understandable.
evs are good for local driving
They are good for road trips too. It just takes experience
Why not just charge it up to 100% the first chance you get? I don't get it....
I’ll address this in an upcoming video.
$0.56 per / kWh, that's pretty expensive
It’s how much Superchargers cost as well, and EA is very often this expensive. EVGo is right around the same price, plus $0.99 connection fee.
Honda lover here. But wont buy this just because its partner with GM. What a bad and dumb move Honda, I'm sure many Honda lovers feel this way :(
I’m a big Honda fan too. I drove only Honda for my personal vehicle up until 2021. Honda’s worst move was abandoning EV architecture research and development. They are so far behind, they had to hire GM to build something for them. I bought the Prologue to tell Honda that EVs are the way forward. I’ll never buy another gas Honda.
Efficiency and charging speed looks same with Fisker Ocean
Not better car. For example 2023-2024 ID4 has Efficiency 3.4-3.5 mile/Kwh
Tesla Y - 3.8-3.9 mile/Kwh. Second can add charging speed in this cars better too.
170-200 KwH
All accurate. Remember, the measured efficiency in this video was at 70 mph. I threw out all the other efficiency data from the trip. My lifetime efficiency in the prologue is exactly 3.4 miles per kWh. The Prologue does have Apple CarPlay, adaptive cruise, one pedal driving, cup holders that actually hold normal size cups, a warranty, an existing company, and existing service centers. The lights in the back don’t come on randomly, it never rolls backwards, you don’t ever have to touch the brake pedal except to change gear or park, and it also comes standard with 2 key fobs. All the AC vents in the Prologue work, the mud flaps don’t eat themselves, and the resale value is quite a bit better, but, I respect your opinion about the Ocean. It does look cool.
@@Aslash304 I totally agree about vehicle build Quality in Honda better than Fisker.
Fisker is experimenting company.
My vision Fisker good but if price for this vehicle will 15-17k.
About Honda Prologue, we can say this GM platform. My vision they needs more work with electric motors And efficiency.
I owned 23 ID4 AWD and my efficiency 3.4-3.5mile/kwh on highway with speed
-70miles
@@RusF-tq1jythe Prologue is 12 inches longer and 6 inches wider than the ID4.
Wow what a cognitive load! I enjoy the gamification and 'nerd numbers' my Prius generates but sometimes you need to be able to just drive and it seems like unless you have the right lifestyle or the infrastructure gets substantially better it's going to be a hard sale. I suspect I'd feel bad for the health of my battery only fast charging it but equally want to be anywhere but staring at battery percent and being stuck near fast food for hours.
It definitely sounds like you’re not ready for an EV.
Feel like you were significantly more harsh with the fisker than you were with the honda here.
Maybe that’s because the Fisker ate its mudflap and turned on the rear reading lights for an hour in the back seat while my son was trying to sleep, my wife had to punch them to get them to go off
@@Aslash304 I guess those are annoying, but I feel like functional issues such as charging and navigating are worse, considering it impacted you actually getting somewhere in a reasonable time.
@@jeremyh9174the Ocean navigated me to a non-functional fast charger amongst a literally sea of charging options.
What a headache!
I wanted to share every aspect of an EV road trip so people will know what to do.
Do the same with a Tesla. It is so much easier with a Tesla.
People do not want EVs, they want a Tesla.
I have owned 3 Teslas. The charging is easier. That’s why there’s no need to make videos about them charging
i wonder if you could say tesla a few more times.
