Funny thing is watching this is recalling what British journalist Alistair Cooke said some fifty years ago in his tv series about American history. To paraphrase: except for those of a certain age, one imagines that America has always been a military colossus striding the globe, when before the Second World War it had an army smaller than Poland's.
"Go for England it's fine" 😂 To be fair, the Royal Navy especially is in a better place than when Binkov made this video (two operational supercarriers now with air wings and strike group support ships I believe), but one major reason why there are some lacking areas in the UK's home defense capabilities is probably because of the strength of NATO and especially the UK-US alliance. As our most important ally on the world stage, the US actually has a huge interest in the UK remaining a significant military power, but there's no chance we wouldn't respond in full force if anyone messed with you guys militarily.
There were actually some plans to invade the UK drawn up over the years, but not in the way that you might think. During WWII, plans were drawn up for the US to land in an occupied UK to free it from Germany if they managed to get that far (similar plans were drawn up for France, which were enacted). Then, during the Cold War, there were tons of plans drawn up by NATO about how the US could launch counter-invasions against the USSR if they managed to blitz across the continent. Some of these plans were crazy, and even required the development of entirely new classes of weapons (eg. Neutron bombs were designed to be used in Germany if the USSR tried to cross the Fulda Gap, without running the risk of irradiating Europe).
@7:30 I'm American but to answer your question about the UK's military strength. It's perfectly fine for what it is expected to do. It is stronger than almost every other country on earth, except for it's allies and countries it would only fight if it's allies were involved. The only capability that the UK is lacking in to my knowledge is long range logistics if the US isn't involved. They can send troops and fight anywhere they just can't fight a fullscale war half way around the world anymore for extended time without help in keeping the troops supplied. TLDR, the UK military is fine it's like asking why Manny Pacquiao can't stand up to Mike Tyson. Just different weight classes.
Tech quality, experience and esp. *logistics* are important. Russia has shown itself to be lacking, and China's probably not all that different. (India isn't ready for prime time.) Other than the US, the UK and France are the only countries who could operate far from home (albeit in smaller conflicts, in the case of the UK or France).
China has our technology. What they haven't been handed by our own corrupt politicians, they steal from corporations who develop our technology and then produce in China. They require a sharing of all technology from any company existing inside China. Politicians screaming about Russia are in the Chinese pockets because they are the real threat.
It's good to look at this in order to see what countries like china would do if they ever invaded. Helps the US+UK prepare together for any potential threat like this.
7:19 because big brother is watching you all across the pond. And if it pops off we will come to your defense the UK pays us for that protection. Another reason the American military is so powerful we don't just defend ourselves.
not sure if you’ve come across this yet, but an absolutely legendary game from 2004 between the ottowa senators and the philadelphia flyers had over 400 penalty minutes (the most ever in a single hockey game i believe) because of 12 separate fights, all within the last couple of minutes of the game. there’s a video here on youtube of the 2004 flyers-senators brawl and it’s pretty wild. would love to see you react to it!
And these are the weapons and troops they let be known. I am an American and I am not naive enough to think we known the full extent, supplies and abilities of our military. If it is all put out there the people we don't want to have that information would have it ready to hand.
Video forgot to factor in that the parts needed for maintenance comes from US. UK uses US f35. And US Apache attack helicopters along with other equipment and missiles they buy from US
Despite the hostilities of the late 1700s and early 1800s, we've had a strong enough alliance that I don't see any reasons to ever think that would change. That said, I think the UK would do well against the USA because the one thing that Afghanistan and Vietnam has shown is that private citizens defending their own land become formidable forces against even the strongest military. Afghanistan has been invaded by the US, Russia and China yet they beat all of those militaries by sheer will and longevity.
Fun Fact: During WWII the 29th Infantry Division was for a time the only American division stationed in England. The locals called the 29th "England's Own" because the threat of a German invasion was very real and they were prepared to defend Britain if that happened.
The main ‘reason’ the UK’s military forces are less than you might think it should be, though it is still significant and the reason many other European countries’ militaries are not substantially more capable than they currently are is because they know the US, and NATO (majority the US also) would come to their aid and protect them at all costs. To this extent much of Europe is taking advantage of the US and not necessarily ’pulling their weight’ and contributing a fair share…all while often spiteful and at least perceived as being ungrateful towards the US. The majority of common Europeans really don’t have a good concept of how much the US really provides them and have historically provided them through the US’s history. The US has sacrificed GREATLY in money and tens of thousands of lives in defense of the European territory. How many Europeans have sacrificed their lives in defense of the US mainland? Their are tens of thousands of US citizens buried in France to fight for Frances sovereignty in WWII alone, after the French themselves barely bothered to put up a fight against the Nazi’s. Look how grateful the French are towards Americans to this day! 😂
The one thing not mentioned is that if this was for real then the resistance the US forces met in Vietnam would pale into insignificance when compared with what would happen if the UK was invaded and occupied by anyone. The politicians might roll over and give in but former members of the armed forces would quickly form into a "resistance" the like of which cannot be imagined. Invading is one thing but controlling and hanging onto the UK would be another matter entirely.
I feel that GB's military has degraded for several reasons. I think the political will to maintain a large well equipped military isn't there. The military budget is too small to even think about major upgrades to its land forces. The Royal Navy is doing a better job with the Astute class subs and 2 new Carriers, but in a land battle, it would not do well. Much of the equipment used by individual soldiers is outdated. In the last 30 years GB, and many European counties, have come to rely upon the US as the ultimate backup should their militaries get in trouble. They know the US will come to their aid. This may be the biggest reason that many European countries have fallen behind in size and technology. They have lost the fear of being beaten in a war. They know that all they have to have is enough weaponry and troops to hold on until America gets there.
The American military cares very much about being as effective as possible, and a lot of combat experience to push it further and to keep it practical. 'Sniper rifle' won't help against detection by common very high quality thermal optics, so doesn't help.
We are the UK's staunchest supporters. The Revolutionary War was almost 250 years ago and we are several generations of that being an issue. I see no conceivable issue where this could happen. I feel we would come to the UK's aid, even with great cost of life and equipment of our own to assist your country and help preserve your sovereignty and for your great citizens. We could be considered "cousins" I suppose. But rest assured, most of us over here in the US consider all of you more like brothers and sisters.
I dont think people truly understand how difficult it is to invade another country, especially another wealthy country and then to occupy that country. Not impossible but very difficult. It's also different getting your people to attack people that are similar culturally. Its different when people are complete opposites
As a career United States military veteran we are by far the most world's largest and technically military in the world. I was stationed to Nato during my career the UK military while smaller is very professional actually United States and United Kingdom are strong allies we will be there for each other
If it makes you feel any better the US morale would be extremely low if ordered to invade Britain. It’s like being a police officer and having to arrest your own mother. America and Britain have what is called the “Special Relationship” and Winston Churchill said that relationship is essential to world peace and international order.
The UK depends on Nato - Formed in 1949 with the signing of the Washington Treaty, NATO is a security alliance of 30 countries from North America and Europe (7 main countries). NATO's fundamental goal is to safeguard the Allies' freedom and security by political and military means. Nato allies are banking on the US to help keep them secure.
7:15 I think it probably has something to do with the fact that the USA relies on being a dominant world power for its economy to function. It is in so much debt that their only way of staying afloat is by being the biggest economic and military superpower. The moment the world stops using the USD, their economy would collapse. Because of this, it makes sense that the USA needs to have extraordinary influence in every way possible. The UK also has so many powerful regional and cross-ocean allies that the 'security in numbers' concept applies heavily for them, and they are less conflict-prone nowadays anyway so it's mostly irrelevant for now. I could just be spitting bullshit but this is my understanding of the situation.
Yes the British were once invaded by the US. It was during WWII when millions of G.I.s were in England in 1944. England became the U.S. military's largest aircraft carrier.
There’s a saying any country that has a McDonald’s it’s unlikely, if they’ll ever attack another country that has a McDonald’s and what they’re basically telling it was democracies almost never go to war with each other
@@ronemtae3468 the term "Golden Arches" is sometimes used as metonym, symbolizing capitalism or globalization in phrases such as the "Golden Arches Theory of Conflict Prevention", which holds that "No two countries that both had McDonald's had fought a war against each other since each got its McDonald's".
Don't sleep on the Brits. They have 2 top 5 branches (Air Force and Navy) and 2 top 10 branches (Army and Marines) in the world. I was Navy and worked in some joint forces commands and with some NATO commands and I respect my British cousins. What makes America's military so great, besides the people, is the government budgets a lot of money for top of the line equipment.
As a theoretical pure numbers game, sure, but the UK has done a fantastic job of making sure it's not a feasible possibility! The UK and US are perhaps the closest alliance in the world, They share a language They're both in NATO, making it basically illegal While the UK's military isn't exactly "undefeatable" with its downsizing, it's good enough to ensure that war with the UK is always more hassle than it's worth, which is all you'd really need! Also, the UK's military budget could theoretically double overnight if the UK felt the need to do it - they've been downsizing mostly because nothing's threatened them since the 80s. A lot of money goes back-and-forth between the US and UK, to the point where both economies would go into a recession if a war broke out They're both nuclear countries Their relationship is symbiotic - the US needs the UK as a military, economic, and political bridge into Europe, while the UK needs the US for its military and economic size and numbers They share all their allies. Especially Canada, which is right on the US' doorstep and loves it's British alliance, culture, history and generally being different to the US. They share the same enemies - particularly Russia and China There are probably more reasons that I can't think of at the moment, but whatever. Even in a worst-case scenario where the UK and US' alliance completely breaks down, it's more likely that both countries will just stop talking to one another than try to invade one another.
Well darlin', the numbers say it all. What a terrible thought, so let's just agree to get along.💜 I was surprised that Poseidon anti submarine warfare planes were not mentioned, particularly at the beginning when the British submarine fleet was mentioned. They are based throughout Europe. Mert, you might be interested in a video from Real Life Lore called NATOs Biggest Weakness. It's about the power that Scotland actually holds in its strategic position. A must watch!💜

Hey only found your channel today and have already watched several of your vids, there are so few Scots reactions channels which is a pity. As for the US being able to invade the UK, while I hope the day never comes there is unfortunately a growing Socialist movement here in the States. I personally have come across several people that say the only reason the USSR fail was because it lacked enough fertile land and had sanctions placed on it by other countries and that the States would succeed as a Socialist country where the USSR did not. So while it is unlikely it isn't impossible for the UK and US to go to war. Now in that instance the international community would likely get involved on UK side even if they didn't I wouldn't count the UK out so easily. During the start of WW2 Germany was actually the most advanced country militarily and was able to capture not just small countries but also captured France leaving Britain to face German and Russia both until Germany betrayed Russia and Russia became an ally. But UK held it's own and more. After Pearl Harbor was attacked the US navy needed time to recover and to allow the US that time to recover the UK took over guarding US waters while still guarding its own and doing so successfully. Even today, from what I know of NATO, Naval response to conflicts was given to Britain and I doubt a country would be given that much power if the International community didn't think that country capable of using it to the utmost effectiveness. So as a born and bred American I actually really do believe that if UK refits their Navy to have the same technology as the US, or even just a few steps closer to it, I think the UK would fully live up to the titles they earned long ago as Masters of the Sea and as Sea Wolves. So I'd give the naval victory to UK. As for Air Force, not sure about that one. The US has alot of experience with Air War but I wouldn't count the RAF out giving they took down Germany's Luftwaft on their own basically with nothing but raw talent and pure skills as the British planes were inferior to Germany's planes at the time. So if UK has an updated Airforce and time to train, it might simply be a stalemate for air control. And as for Army, there were constantly stories in the news here of British soldiers rescuing POWS from places American soldiers had gone past or otherwise been in the area of and completely missed realizing those places/POWS were there. So all in all I think the UK could defend itself against the US if their military could be upgraded fast enough and the same for training new recruits. So yeah despite being American and being proud of our military I wouldn't want us to try going against a prepared UK as yall are very formidable and have proven time and again that yall can beat the odds no matter how great they are.
Hun, you never have to worry about this. It would never happen. Not in our lifetime. Even our blood is mixed within the UK as well as most of Europe. We also have bases there already. He hasn't taken any of that into consideration.
The UK has been downsizing their military over the years. I guess they see no point in the growth investment when they know we’ll come to their aid, and we would. So many US Allies just don’t try to grow their military strength anymore.
What we should do is conquer Canada to throw out the Canadians. The Brits and Aussies could move to Canada and be our neighbors. The Canadians could go far away either to the UK or Australia. 🙂
Last time we tried that they kicked our butts. Besides, we couldn't get better neighbors than Canadians. I dunno who put maple syrup on your hockey puck, but Canada is awesome.
@@ΒΞΔΝ - "They didn't kick our butts. *The British Empire* fought us to a draw. It's now 200+ years later. The Canadian military isn't even in the global Top 20. Australia, despite a smaller population, has a better military than Canada.
These types of videos are usually just really extreme hypotheticals, the US is not a power which looks to takeover other countries especially the ones US vs World, etc. We just try to maintain peace, with primary methods being diplomacy or containment of Russia, China and NK which are the ones who would without a thought try to expand or conquer.
Whilst I don't don't doubt the USA power, you're forgetting tactics. The same tactics where the UK airforce fly into America undetected. You also forget Canada and the UK are basically 1 country as the king can mobilise the Canadian Royal forces. So USA would be hit in the Atlantic from 2 sides. And if the US invaded the UK, the UK would retaliate via Canada 🍁
Why is the UK under prepared? Because they are US allies and know that the forces highlighted in this video would be brought to bare to defend them. Kinda depressing for the US ... we would prefer Europe to have more military capabilities and only rely on the US for support (not entirely fair ... but that's how it often feels).
Of it would ever happen. And I don’t. We would go right for the palace and and force a serenader. It would be called the war that no one wants. So we would try to spare as many lives as possible and end it fast. And it would involve in special forces going to get the king I guess he is now. Lol and the prime minister. We wouldn’t want to kill anyone of you guys. 🤷🏼♂️🤣🤣🤣
US British relations have never been better. You guys are very well trained and would put up a better fight than most other countries but you would lose to overwhelming numbers. Too bad your civilians have such strict access to guns!
If America is #1 military power. Why would Britain waste money on it if big brother got your back lol. Thats the main reason. No country will touch UK because the US will step in and the worlds know it. We forgive you (UK) for the tea tax.
Iraq and Afghanistan has differing opinions if we "won" In many ways we did, and in many ways we failed miserably. The problem there was fighting an ideology, and not a country.
The USA loves the UK so unless you all do something to seriously piss us off then you know we've got the UK's back always. I can only speak for myself but keep in mind that our ancestors came from countries such as the UK. At least I know mine came from the Nottingham area almost 400 years ago. They left then because of the royal monarchy trying to control their religious beliefs but the love for the country never left even though they did.
UK is one of our closest, most special allies along with Canada. We ❤ our UK brothers and sisters.

You guys do have one advantage. Your beaches are so dank and depressing no American wants to go anywhere near them.
We ❤ You
War of 1812, respect for UK for a second shot. Respect to US for holding, with its complications. Proud we became allies.
Fun Fact: During WWII the 29th Infantry Division was for a time the only American division stationed in England. The locals called the 29th "England's Own" because the threat of a German invasion was very real and they were prepared to defend Britain if that happened.
Threat of Invasion was over by then
The main ‘reason’ the UK’s military forces are less than you might think it should be, though it is still significant and the reason many other European countries’ militaries are not substantially more capable than they currently are is because they know the US, and NATO (majority the US also) would come to their aid and protect them at all costs.
About 25 million Americans say they have some Scottish ancestry, but many people don't know so the real number is probably more like 50 to 75 million.
And a lot of countries has downsized their militaries since ww2. Because it’s peace time. Their was no reason to have huge militaries.
Americans LOVE the UK and it's people. This won't ever happen at least not in several lifetimes. I hope it never does.
You should react NHL fights
As a career United States military veteran we are by far the most world's largest and technically military in the world. I was stationed to Nato during my career the UK military while smaller is very professional actually United States and United Kingdom are strong allies we will be there for each other
Would never happen, whats the North Yorkshire coastal beaches looking like? Asking for a friend.
US would need to send half a fleet, I mean by design our military can fight three fronts
Never will happen. 🇺🇸 ❤️ 🇬🇧 Forever unified.
I would as soon fight my fellow Americans as I would anyone from the UK, Australia or Canada. We're family. This scenario is pretty horrifying.
nah we are good with our brothers and sisters across the pond :)
Bagpipes are fine but feed us something other than haggis🤝
Yes the British were once invaded by the US. It was during WWII when millions of G.I.s were in England in 1944. England became the U.S. military's largest aircraft carrier.
I would like to see you react to US enemies are not going to like this video by OBF

The UK and US are perhaps the closest alliance in the world,
They share a language
They're both in NATO, making it basically illegal
While the UK's military isn't exactly "undefeatable" with its downsizing, it's good enough to ensure that war with the UK is always more hassle than it's worth, which is all you'd really need! Also, the UK's military budget could theoretically double overnight if the UK felt the need to do it - they've been downsizing mostly because nothing's threatened them since the 80s.
A lot of money goes back-and-forth between the US and UK, to the point where both economies would go into a recession if a war broke out
They're both nuclear countries
Their relationship is symbiotic - the US needs the UK as a military, economic, and political bridge into Europe, while the UK needs the US for its military and economic size and numbers
They share all their allies. Especially Canada, which is right on the US' doorstep and loves it's British alliance, culture, history and generally being different to the US.
They share the same enemies - particularly Russia and China
There are probably more reasons that I can't think of at the moment, but whatever. Even in a worst-case scenario where the UK and US' alliance completely breaks down, it's more likely that both countries will just stop talking to one another than try to invade one another.
We just sink their carriers, job done

The US is large and more updated so other Countries don’t have to be. If someone invaded the UK , the US would take over.
UK has no reason to invest in defense because US would be there to defend UK instantly
Yes they would . And our sons and daughter's will not be raised

Of course the US could take the UK.

Just build a jungle, youll be fine
The USA loves the UK so unless you all do something to seriously piss us off then you know we've got the UK's back always.
I can only speak for myself but keep in mind that our ancestors came from countries such as the UK. At least I know mine came from the Nottingham area almost 400 years ago. They left then because of the royal monarchy trying to control their religious beliefs but the love for the country never left even though they did.
because the UK has USA as big brother protector they dont need all the defences when they have a phone to the white house, simple reason.
Without even watching the video, yes 100% most definitely. It wouldn't be difficult at all. Sorry Brits
