Quick update - there are 2 more refineries: ARC-L4 and MIC-L5 that I just learned about thanks to the comments. I’ll get stats and update the attachments. The great thing is there’s so much to learn and like I said as a fresh guide there are going to be things I miss!
@@LoudGuns Apparently, there used to be a refinery station at CruL1, but CIG removed it several years ago for some reason, and never put it back in when the added all the other Lagrange refineries a couple of patches ago. Maybe CIG just forgot that it wasn’t there any more?

FUN FACT: You can upgrade your Prospectors bags! Find a MOLE slavage mission (if you don't see one you need to complete a slaving mission to expand the list) fly your Prospector over, unlock your bags from your seat, fly out and rip the bags off your ship, install the bag off the MOLE onto the Prospector (use the R key to spin the bags they can be tricky to snap in) and BOOM you just went from 32 SCU to 48 SCU CAPACITY!

Hopefully that helps you 😊
Great job! A couple things you didn't mention: in space while scanning, you need to get to about 1350m in order to scan the rock you are aiming at, and on a planet/moon surface, you need to get to about 315m. Also, you can currently put the mole ore bags on the prospector to increase it's capacity! You always have the best mining guides and you really made it make sense when I first started SC. Thanks!!!
Cheers mate, always a few things you miss! I didn’t go into the saddle bags though as (just my view) I doubted that was intentional and reckon we’ll probably see that patched.
Just in case it IS intentional and one wonders on how to get the bags of a mole without having one, look out for salvaging missions with a mole. IIRC, the legal ones are tier two, but the private ones are tier one and cost 10k aUEC, so they can be done right from the start without needing to ramp up reputation and therefore no need to have a salvaging ship available. Once attached to the prospector, they are covered by the insurance and will retain if you claim your ship, either for transport or after destruction.
What?! Can i increase my prospectors capacity? Where can i get those bags if I dont have a Mole? Do i Cheng them in the same menu as i change mining lasers?
One of the reasons I was interested in pursuing SC after watching it for years was the enthusiasm and professionalism you brought to your vidoes. The mining looked fun and profitable. I like the changes they made to the materials, rocks, and modules, we needed a change from the "find Quant" meta. However since the patch dropped, i lost so much money on repairing my ship because of lost modules and random disconect/30Ks when transporting 500k+ of cargo to the closest TDD and 30k protection not working resulting in the ship being destroyed or left with the only option to claim the ship after a long wait and lose the cargo. All this takes out the fun of the game when you like to "farm" to reach goals and just lose everything to bugs.. Other than that, very nice and complete guide once again, ty for helping and sharing knowledge

Nice guide. I mostly mined in Eve online. Can’t wait to try it in SC. It will be awesome when you can eventually transfer saddle bags to/from a hauler and have large scale mining ops.

I didn't realize how much of an overhaul the mining has had, it's really quite incredible! I'm really looking forward to seeing how these other materials have a use later on in the game. I'm certain that eventually even tier 3 metals will be worth mining, probably for that construction ship.
Watched the whole thing and it's opened my eyes to mining with more than just a ROC, I'd like a prospector but looks like Mole is a simply better investment since it has a bigger cargo, but for now I still need to do a whole lot of ROC mining to earn the credits for any of these ships. Overall I appreciate the time you've put into editting this video and sharing your knowledge. Great job and you've earned my sub

@31:51 - nice new UI and the rock markers obscure it. Room for more tweaking by CIG. Also, a quick word or two to know how much of a cargo ship is needed, to haul the refined mats, would be nice.
Immense thank you for this guide especially for focusing on the solo playstyle, that we loners always get criticized for, since SC is a mmo, yadda yadda ... I will definitely try your prospector loadout recommendation, as sadly I don't have a mole, it's way too expensive for me
Thanks Andy! Yeah I find it easiest to look at mining through the solo lens, but particularly I like now how mining with others isn’t just “easy mode” - it actually helps to be proficient first, then step up to the next challenge of multi-crew if you feel it. Personally I love playing with others, but even I just enjoy a bit of time to myself from time to time.
One left of field loadout for the Prospector I'd like to bring up is the "ROC scout". It uses the Arbor MH1 mining head with a Focus "1" module to further lower the laser power by 15% while providing a 30% bonus to green zone window size. Using the ship to scout for Hadenite is pretty straightforward. To begin cracking the nodes you'll want to be sitting at a distance of 179.9 from the targeted node before you turn on your laser. This is best done by first flying close to the required distance then lowering your speed limiter to 0. Then rise the limiter by the smallest amount you can (setting a keyboard bind for speed limiter and giving it a quick tap works to do this). Then while aimed at the node tap the "W" key until the distance clicks from 180 to179. This distance needs to be precise as should you have gone from 178 to 179 it will be to close and rapidly fill the charge bar. This is a great way to build up ones ability to manage tricky mining requirements that would normally have high risk attached. If the Hadenite node does end up going into the red and explodes, what would have spelt the loss of a ROC would be no issue for the Prospector sitting safely at 179.9 meters away. However I will point out that due to the effect of wind being able to push a ship around, due to just how precise the distance needs to be any slight breeze can make this impossible so some situational awareness is required.
Excellent guide Loud, really detailed and helpful. I am new to this game and need all the knowledge i can get. The one thing i want is to get some friends into this game, unfortunately no one i know id interested 🤷 makes no sense to me as im loving every second
Great Video! What I'd amend on myy MOLE is a Crossfield QD; its only a few seconds slower, more fuel efficient, but more importantly, its quite cheaper when compared to the XL-1. If you did mine with buddies, Have them pull their fighters and escort the cargo ship! At least have them man a turret, but fighters help. Nothing like a Redeemer or Scorpius to deter a pirate. and a Freelancer Max & Deemer is a 4 man crew, so if one of you have that or a Scorpius or Hurricane, That's also 3-4 player and a good escord (though 2-3 fighters help too).
I'm new to the mole and I see the use for three different heads. I like to use an Impact 2 with 3 fltr-L Not as a primary breaker but as the extraction head works great for reducing the inert materials once you begin sucking up the rocks. in multi crew I would have them as the primary extraction head and the secondary backup for larger breaks.
@LoudGuns Love your videos. They’re so helpful and thorough. Definitely the best put together guides out there. I was REALY hoping you had a link to that excel doc for profits. Can you please share!
Fantastic summary: I don't currently have a mining ship as I found the Quant meta boring and full of bugs, but I might consider coming back since there is now more variety in what you can collect and where.
@@LoudGuns I'm experiencing something weird with the mole, when trying to lift off from all hangars. i have to use shift to take off, otherwise it gets back to ground. have you ever had this issue on the Mole? thanks
Fun experiment! Just rented a prospector and was able to unlock the ports on the rented ship. This let me add a module! should be able to add a new mining head, if I can find one that is better than the starter one. Just have to remember to take it off before the rental time expires ^_^
Already came across a pair of 280,000 kg and 320,000 kg rock containing terenite, gold, barelite and aluminum. One MOLE with all the crew and recommended upgrades was not going to cut it. Even a second upgraded crewed MOLE wasn't good enough on the biggest rock so we invited a Prospector in to assist. These two rocks alone took over 20 minutes to crack as we tried to figure out who should have the controlling laser. After all was mined and refined I manage to sell the refined product for a whopping 760,000 UEC. All 7 of us had an initial 25,000 UEC advance on successful mining participation. Everyone got a followup 50,000 UEC bonus the next evening. The mining controller was left with 180,000 UEC. We count ourselves well organized, nicely upgraded and lucky.

Great guide dude!
Cheers Ozzie!
Excellent guide Loud, really detailed and helpful. I am new to this game and need all the knowledge i can get. The one thing i want is to get some friends into this game, unfortunately no one i know id interested 🤷 makes no sense to me as im loving every second
Most people I've played with say MIKE L1, MIKE L2 etc, because it's Microtech (MIKE-ROW-TEK) :) Great vid thanks for the pointers
Nice to know impossible rocks aren't always impossible. I've passed up plenty of them without even trying. 😭
I got one 14k rock with like 20% gold in it without a gadget using the Klein on a Prospector. That is the only impossible rock I’ve broke though.
Best Guide ever, thank you! Really well done
Thanks mate - glad it helps!
Excellent work - very helpful guide as always!
You're a star! ⭐
As are you ⭐️
Here it is! The much awaited Loud Guns vid!
Haha, it’s a Labour of love!
Fantastic summary: I don't currently have a mining ship as I found the Quant meta boring and full of bugs, but I might consider coming back since there is now more variety in what you can collect and where.
Absolutely excellent video. Thank you.
Thanks Eden 🙏
Many thanks for all your advices et video!
Thanks Mix!! 🙏
Excellence once again. Going to melt my vulture and get back my prospector.
👍 both are great ships (one thing I would say is you can buy a prospector in game but not the vulture).
Thank u soooo much, u have no idea how much it means.. This guide help me a lot thx
what a great guide, thank you!
Thanks Archer 🙏
@@LoudGuns I'm experiencing something weird with the mole, when trying to lift off from all hangars. i have to use shift to take off, otherwise it gets back to ground. have you ever had this issue on the Mole? thanks
i have all grade A military upgraded modules
@@archerkee9761 use the vtol when in hangars 👍
@@LoudGuns oh man, so good, i thought it was a bug ahah. thank you very much
Fun experiment!
Wow that’s huge! Yeah I love the challenge, and have had some similar experiences with a number of us sat around scratching our heads 😂
thanks so much loud guns you're the best!!!
Cheers Henry!!
Thanks for this amazing guide.
Thanks for watching it! 👍
A valuble tip is that you can use a tractor beam to remove the pods on a Mole and put them on a Prospector to increase the amount it can carry
Awesome info, Loud Guns - thanks heaps o7
o7 & thanks for watching LeetTreet!
Great guide, thanks for your effort.
Cheers mate! Labour of love to be honest!
This is great mining guide!
Brilliant Tutorial, thank you 👍
simply awesome job!
What a great clip. Thank you Loudguns. “Warjax88”
Cheers mate! And thanks for your help - that “don’t use 2 Klein’s” was all us trying to crack that gold rock 😂
Great guide! Thanks.
