Phil thanks for another great informative video...As I mentioned on your IG I was curious to hear your findings in the hawk ceramic vs the 5.0’s. Based on all your testing I replaced stock pads with 5.0s and they have been great... thank you for all the R&D you do. Speaking for myself it has made my life much easier owning my GT350. 👌👌👌👌
Thanks for reviewing those, I’ve been curious about them, only for eliminating brake dust, the 5.0 pads are really good for my use and I think I’ll just keep cleaning the wheels 😂
Thanks for the explanation and testing! Maybe you have an idea and recommendation for me: I run my 21GT in Germany (Autobahn) and every time I have to brake hard at 150-180mph I am getting fading and lose brake power. On a 4h drive this might happen like 10 times. Can you recommend the Performance ceramics or is there another brake pad vendor you would choose from you experience?
Which ones bite more and do better at triple digit speeds? I have the Hawk Performance Ceramic pads on right now, and they're fine below 100, but over those speeds, the stopping power just isn't there, and I am unsatisfied knowing I won't be able to panic stop. I'm trying to decide if HPS 5.0 are the way to go, or if I should go with HP Plus pads. I don't really ever track the car. It's mostly street use & cruising, but occasional (once every drive, lol) highway pulls, and I NEED stopping power to get me down back below 100 quick.
Looking for new set always used akebono no track just daily driving. 2017 audi A4 so not really sure what to get for rear and front on new stock rotors. Thanks
Another great video full of useful info. You mentioned pads from Carbotech. How does Hawk CP pads compare and what would they roughly cost for a non-PP GT? Thanks for making amazing products and videos!
@@autofanaticcars my 2017 Shelby with 9k is ready for new pads. So I’m trolling to see what’s good these days for street no track but some heavy foot action here and there. Any opinion?
@autofanatic and experts here - Help me choose please : My car 2018 BMW 340XI ECU tuned - 500 WHP. Hawk 5.0 or Performance Ceramic Brakes. Live close to Snow/Rainy/twisty road area and not tracking car. Just spirited driving all around.
Either these or hps 5.0 pads will be my next pad, I've got the hawk hp+ pads and they do nothing BUT squealed like crazy I had the shop do the bedding in process and myself do the bed in process once I picked up the car.... AWFUL just how loud they are. especially in the city where the sound of the brakes squeaking echoes off the city walls. However the hp+ pads do WORK VERY well, . It Took 4 stops BACK TO BACK from 160 to 40mph to actually feel the judder/ shuddering while braking. BUT they are however for from gentle on the rotors which is also another reason as to why I'm looking for another pad, I can replace pads all day it takes about 7 minutes per wheel. cold bite is fine no issues. it's just I need something that is much better for daily driving, and having people tell you, you need new brakes at the stoplight gets old...... and im not paying oem prices for an inferior pad for my needs/ uses. car is never tracked, just late night shenanigans and city daily driving with lots of highway action - 04 STI 3600 pounds with me and all my stuff in it.
the 5.0 is the better pad for all around street use i fee the ceramics are ok but if you drive spirted and the car is heavy and high horsepower these will fade after some hard stops
are these pads similar, lesser or better than the oem brembos on my stinger gt ? considering EBC yellow pads as well. i do reach 110mph on my drag strip runs,so ?
I watched both videos of the hawk ceramic and 5.0 you did , in your experience which pad held better in brake fade ? I have a 2012 Nissan 370 and 2017 GTR. Style driving is daily driver but break heavy in to turns and lots of 80-20 stops as well as 60-20 stops . Currently running original hps blue box but I’m getting some rotor glazing. Thanks for the videos thumbs up!

@@autofanaticcars good to know.. I would appreciate low dust on my car cause it has horrible dust however, I want a certain braking performance more than low dust. I’ll prob end up with ebc yellowstuff cause I think it will be similar to oem but better.
the 5.0 is the better street pad but guys have begged me to test these for 3 years so here it is, i think the dust level is a little less than the 5.0 but as i mentioned the lack of modulation on this particular car is one thing i dislike
OEM pads dust out awful so guys have asked for 3 years to test these for less dust and less wheel cleaning and i finally did, quite surprised how well they work on the road but then again the car has a lot to do with it.
Big fan of Hawk brakes. Their HPS line has saved my life a few times.
Same here. My TSX brake swap on my Civic also helped save my car during emergency stops.

yeah the 5.0 is the better all around pad
The stock pads are Ferodo DS2500s so these pads would be a big downgrade for the track
oh yeah these are not for any heavy duty use but main to cruise on the street if you complain about the OEM dust levels.
Great technical explanation about ur brake system in ur car man. Always enjoy ur insightful content.

Thanks Phil. I suggest comparing '19 and '21 factory pads. EPA requires pads to be low-Cu/Cu-free starting 1/2021. Many mfrs are already

Performance Ceramics are for cruising and lower dust there not great at high speeds or panic look into Carbotech XP8 for a serious upgrade

1st from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷
I used powerstop track brake pads are my rotors up after a 3 day track day.
I love Power Stop Brakes
What happened to Carbotech XP8? You said those were your favorite hands down for 10 yrs.
XP8 are incredible but not best to street or daily due to cost, dust levels and bite

the 5.0 will be better for fade but every car is different based on braking system and thermal capacity of the hardware

You did the Ford recommended brake pad break-in procedures for track.
Any installation walk throughs for just changing brake pads? Can’t find anything fir my GT350

Thoughts on Powerstop Trackday pads? There's a trackday spec and there's trackday pads.
garbage pads
Good video. You know braking well!
Have you ever reviewed the Carbotech 1521 street pads?
Yes Carbotech are awesome but 1521 does not give sharp initial bite oem pads give or others its a great low dust pad if you drive aggressively

Great video my friends! I've had my GT350 for 4 years now. Curious what you think about the zl11le?
the ZL1 1Le is an awesome car
Have you tried the Carbotech 1521?
I use Carbotech pads exclusively on most of car cars for over 14 years they are awesome.
I’m curious to see how you like this however I still think the 5.0 are probably the better pad, my Subaru I’m currently running the stop tech.

i never took my 350R to the track i just do testing based on fans requests of such parts.
