As a 60 yr young African American man, I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate you, because I believe you really appreciate black culture and what we've gone through by the way you react to black artists. Your comment that "We all have African DNA" was so profound and true. Thank you. 💯😎
man knox thank you, your breakdowns helped me find a stronger interest in the art of music and it has helped me progress as a person the past 2 years, love the videos
@@KnoxHilloi don’t really know how to tag you to a message other than this way but I wanted to let you know of the Pangea slip up, if you look it up yourself you’ll see the supercontinent broke down way before the first humans appeared (btw maybe you used that word purposefully but me being an ESL made me not get it, so I apologise in advance if that was the case)
Yeah during the TPAB era they weren’t open to non classical or jazz but I think they said TPAB was part of the reason he got the attention of the voting body. He was consistent with Damn hence the prize
I have an extremely similar background and story as Kendrick and I know for a fact that nobody really knows what he means in his art but him. He leaves it without context or explanation and up for interpretation. You are really intelligent and this video was done amazingly.
I think "I am a proud monkey" is a clever bar in the sense of taking ammunition from oppositions and leaving them no choice but to listen to what he is adressing. Such a clever way to say stfu and listen.
I'm white, but growing up, my dad would always say to us, "Get yr monkey ass over here." I never seen it as a racist thing. But I do know now that people have used it that way.
Wait, have you never heard the album this song is on? To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest albums in hip hop history IMO, highly recommend, I think you’ll love it.
@@Yoko-oe3cv It’s up there, I’d put it 2nd behind Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP personally, but TPAB is obviously a phenomenal pick for #1. I still remember the day it came out.
Nobody does it better than Knox. Some of us got to listen to How to pimp a butterfly in the studio when kendrick got finished recording it, I said it then and I'll say it again this album is a masterpiece. Our city couldn't be more proud of the man and artist that he's become. 💪
My man Knox! I truly appreciate your break down of all these bars! I just started watching reactions this year. For my opinion’s worth, I find that a lot of reactors react to how dope or venomous the bars are and I can appreciate that because I can feel it too most of the time. Others give break downs but they are so boring or have too many unnecessary filler moments. In your reactions, I stay engaged and LEARNNNN more insight into the artist’s head and I get those “ahhh, that’s what he/she meant” moments. You also appreciate the dope venomous bars too, so you really give the all around experience! And finally, this break down is special to me as this is my favorite Dot song. Appreciate you brother, keep it up!
I love how he even explains the rhyme schemes and breaks down the musicality and on videos the visual artistry as well. He is the reactor I watch most of all.
@@brandyborder-rodriguez9254 Yes! 100% true, and when he recognizes certain inflictions and the significance of them! music, all genres, has been my escape all my life but with Knox, in a good way, I realize I don’t understand as much as I thought 😊.
Knox your very educated and brilliant, you yearn for knowledge!!! As a Nigerian living in my country, i resonate strongly with kdot since 2014 Keep the good work knox
My favorite kendrick lamar song feel like this song he talking directly to america like as if its a person “you made me” . Hits different in the morning time, most kendrick songs hit hard in the morning tbh
I love the engagement with a controversial song like this. Kendrick is an amazing writer, and art should reflect the times and honest perception of its creator. What’s important is that we engage with content that challenges us and help us see reality as it is. Not how we want to see it
Hey Knox! Thx 4 chiming in. This is your first Reaction to TBTB from TBAB? Many classics on TBAB. TBTB is one of them. 🙂His 2016 Grammy performance of the song is also astounding and classic. 7:57 During a new moon, the moon appears black because the moon's dark side faces Earth. This happens when the moon passes through the same part of the sky as the sun.
When I first heard this song I hadn’t been really introduced to rap as a genre and I didn’t know there were racial divides in America (white, but raised out of NA). This song has been a piece of art I kept coming back to. The more I learn about Kendrick, racial tension history, despair, double standards, and politics, the more relevant this song has become. The song has aged well, but only because we haven’t. As people. It’s like Rage Against the Machine that way. The only reason it feels relevant is that we won’t learn

I don't wanna be that guy but Pangea broke apart roughly 200 million years ago while the first recorded human ancestors apeared 6 million ago, thought you might wanna know that.
Theres also the double of "Vandalizing my Perception" they aren't just making him look bad. They're making him look at himself in a negative light by vandalizing it. But in spite of vandalizing it, painting over it they can't take the style that's underneath that vandalism. The spray paint and the hate speech can be washed off, his foundation is still going to be there st the end of the day.
One of my fav Dot tracks excellently broken down, when we getting some of that new Ab-Soul though, the Ab-Soul x JID track has some insane wordplay you'll love!
You should react to Ham Sandwich/Dillon Heinz. Especially his songs 'Wheyfu Anthem', 'I.B.T.C', and 'Witch B!tch'. They're a little goofy but his rhyming and lyrical ability is insane.
The moon has no light that emanates from it. It is a reflextion of the sun that makes it "look" bright. The moon is indeed Black...but yeah, it shines brightly at times.
In a time when I have unsubbed from creators who comment on the black experience in ways that are problematic, stereotypical and prejudicial, there is you. I’m cautious and optimistic.
