Samsung ONE UI 6.1.1 Update - Feature Removal Leads to Major Disappointment!

- Samsung One UI 6.1.1 removes slashes components from major feature. Many people are mad and may not upgrade.
Samsung issued One UI 6.1.1 update to S24 Ultra already, with S23 Ultra, Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 in line next.
But certain features are being removed and causing frustration.

Thank you! Most of these Tech TH-camrs are ignoring things like these. These new AI features are useless if they keep removing key features. The Smart Select feature removal is diabolical.
The GIF removal removal definitely pissed me off. Why would you do that? It makes no sense

Yes in one ui 5.1 I could set the clock on the edge of display on AOD but on one UI 6.1 this option has disappeared😢
Companies no more love customers they just milking us...
But all the new stuff doesn't weigh heavier then some not so every day features

@ProudDMims i have the update. U still can. All you have to do is go to a video and hit the 3 buttons. Or screen record what u want first then do it.
I hope Samsung is watching you and put that back. Because I'm mad too. Been S Series users since 2020.

Terrific critique. Removing features of an "Ultra", devalues the "premium" user experience.
Maybe just rename the phone to Galaxy "Modest". Why alienate users by nuking valued features? Maybe they want to rev up Apple's sales!
We want 'Smart Select' Back.
What's Samsung up to here??? They had to know that removing a couple of these features would piss some people off!
@Mar.T.365 they do this frequently. "Selective color" was removed and missing for years and then suddenly returned to "photo editing " it is a favorite of mine like gif maker

They are always removing something. I'm pissed with smart select GIF removal, I was pissed with live message removal and do you remember back when they removed dual cam? Thank God that's back. Why do they always remove something???? Really pissing me off. I think they enjoy doing it, not sure. Lol.

Not only that, the S pen can't connect to the Google translation dictionary. In my opinion, this was the worst thing because many languages are still not translated by the Samsung dictionary, many users got nervous.

Most of these languages in the Samsung dictionary are for international customers only, so it doesn't matter.

6.1.1 also removed a very popular feature not talked about and that is the ability to adjust the AOD brightness!!

@@CUNEYT_ERY Yeah they did which is crazy to me then they added the ability to change it with LockStar using Good lock but when they updated to 6.1.1 again its gone so who knows why?

that was removed in the s24 s23 still had till it was updated also

The clock style for the AOD has also been removed. You cannot change it from the Settings. You have to go to GOOD LOCK TO CHANGE IT.
They remove Gif maker and before that they remove live messages now they give you extra steps to pin the smart select . What happen with samsung they remove the things we love

One of my daily favorite features. The update is cumbersome and I'm mad about it too.

Still angry at the loss of AOD options
Update should be taking away well lived features, its like their trying to piss off their customers. No reason to get rid of the SD card, 3.5 jack or superfast chargers bundled with their top of the line phones.
That's why I stopped updating my phone ...or one major update for the current model if reviews are really important...because company tries its best to sell one phone the software it comes with are the most strongest ones ...thanks for update bro

I have been a Samsung owner since the Galaxy S2 and have long since learned to update my phones carefully with Samsung. I have my samsung s23 ultra with UI 5.1 July 2024 and I will never update for anything in the world to Android 14. Battery and camera are of extraordinary quality, it never heats up and is always super responsive and never a lag, the small aesthetic changes do not they are absolutely worth it, I can get the stupid things with AI simply by downloading third party apps while with the battery and general performance I can't. Be smart. Thanks to the channel for being attentive to these details that others have not noticed.

Same here. They removed those feature so we resort to using their new "AI" features.
I have a Flip 6. The "new" smart select does not include the circle/oval choice. I used that a lot when editing photos (mostly of my dog!). I really miss it.

Battery drain is the biggest problem/issue on this update 😢 My phone doesn't last a full day anymore. Hope they'll fix this not the other small "problems"
What bugs me the most is that Samsumg took away the option to make gifs. I constantly used that feature. First Samsung snatched away S Pen support from the S 21 Ultra that I had, now this BS with my brand new Z Fold 6?! ...I'm pretty close to dumping Samsung. 🤬

I didn't even know that feature was there,😁😁 it does not affect my use of the phone.
I got an S24 after using S9 since 2018. This downgrad shenanigans among other things is why this might be my last Samsung phone.

You can acces smart select using the spen.
No one is talking about being able to copy text from pdf files in notes app which is disabled since circle to search so now each time google sees my screen when I want to even copy a small bit of text from pdf stupid
reminds me of when they removed dedicated finger print. Idk why they do this I use smart select all the time. Also, you can resize on the fly with the old smart select before you take the screen shot.
Is there anyway to keep or regain these removed features and still keep my S24 Ultra up to date...like a separate app, etc...kind of like the customization apps from Samsung (Theme Park, Keys Cafe, NotiStar, etc)?
It was still there in the Good Lock app. Now, it has even been removed there. Sucks!!

That's actually gonna annoy me when I update my 23 Ultra.. I liked it to be on a separate panel cause I don't actually use panel for apps, now I gotta have apps panel with smart select in it (with less options to offer than before) kinda deal breaker tho
the lasso smart select was also removed aside from the oval select... I am so pissed off about losing something that is so useful for me...

pls emphasize also the removal of lasso smart select... I hope samsung would give it back to us... it's so useful to me... especially in my work..
Good job updating the community... I think it's because of TH-cam guidelines so they removed it permanently.

Notification pop up style also not working ,if edge lighting plus is enabled for only lock screen in s24 ultra.
I feel like this new smart select never gets the areas i need to clip. The old smart select was just right. hopefully they improve it or just give us the option to use the old one. If it ain't broke, don't fix it
Samsung seems to be crapping the bed with these transitional updates. Omitting longstanding quality functions from updated apps and changing the overarching design language of the OneUI software....i.e., ergonomic and functional reachability in spite of screen size. Must be some fresh new designers on the team that have no clue as to why things were the way they were. Just poor, poor quality control from a design update perspective
Hope they include these features in oneui 7.0 vut they r also discontinueing samsung messages that tm roh has become puppet of google
Its just a small feature we can't say its a major disappointment. Smart select is now integrated with ai and other features like ovel and animation are under development may be.

So Saki, what do you suggest the consumers to do. Since I just ordered and received mine, I'm still able to return the phone.
However, it sounds like many/most in the comments can not.1st it was the sd card, then the ear plug-in thingy, now smart select. Samsung is acting like the government here in the USA. Looks like Unplugged is looking better everyday. At least Unplugged isn't taking your data and selling it supposedly or back dooring you with their apps. Not b*tching at you ... just disappointed. Would calling Samsung and letting them know our grievances help. Thank you, Saki.
Heavily Disappointing. It's not an Upgrade, it's a downgrade.
I dare say Samsung copped a lot of flak for gif maker. Both from companies that specialise in making gif making apps and TH-cam.
The circle cut out festure was a weird one to begin with. Used for what exactly?

I just downloaded the new SW update and the phone keeps reading my incoming text messages aloud. How do i disable it ?
Anyone else notice the "dynamic spacing between photos" (in Gallery Labs) has disappeared with the new update?! All my photos have thick white borders again... 🙁

Also the small exclamation circle underneath photos has gone. You could press this and options would appear to remaster or blur background. That is no longer under photos in the gallery 😢
If you swipe up on the screen while viewing a photo, you should see several options appear, including remaster and others based on the type of photo that you have open 🙂

6.1 has made my phone unstable. Crashes every day. Does 6.1.1 address this? I could sacrifice the edge panel for stability.

I have only had the S24 Ultra for a short time , but I feel that before the update it was possible to add individual videos or background images to contacts when calling. Now it is no longer possible ? I didn't find this feature.

Feel like my battery is worse off. I need to confirm, maybe wait a few days before getting pissed. In turn I have a bunch of gimmick AI, that I don't need. I want a good phone first with good battery life. Taking that away for subscription based stuff is not a fair trade.
After all these updates and more customizable options , there still nothing to edit text messages 😑 like wft.

Why is the bar on the left side ? Is that by choice ? If it's not why would they move it over there. Be to hard to one hand swipe that open .
Good morning from Greece. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra with OneUI 6.1. I have noticed that the Smart Select feature from OneUI 6.1.1 is available on my device. I am curious to know how this has occurred.
I haven't received the 6.1.1 update for my s24 ultra yet.
Disappointing, I use the features a lot.
If i use the ai rectangle , it does not give me draw to sketch button , but "add to note" one 😢
Please check the notification sound because in my S24 Ultra only the notification sound not clear and not dynamic like before and it sound like a mono sound because it coming out of one speaker instead of both but all other sounds like media or phone ringing are good and the sound coming out of the 2 speakers of the phone. Also I see the battery drain faster. Please check that and let us know. Thanks in advance
Can you still create the GIF using the S-pen? The option is available clicking the S-pen button and then choose the smart select icon.

Being able to crop as before, now gone, seriously SUCKS. I hate it. Also, even though I have 6.1.1, it still says 6.1
The name of the update depends on what phone model you got I think.
On the Samsung flip and foldable phones the update is called One UI 6.1.1 while on the rest like s24 Ultra the update is stil called 6.1, even though I think that they for the most part got the same functions with this update.
