Kudos to you for roughing it out 😎 ... no Gucci kit all super simple nice to see ... some I've seen have "Jacked it" and back to the car 😂 ... Well Done 👍
I love the simplicity of what you do, chopping up your veggies in the openwith simple tools and no fancy equipment. I love your channel and hope you continue to make these videos.
Hi Lonnie, Yes a good woodstove and source of dry fuel would have made things more comfortable thats for sure. It wasn't too cold though but any dampness does accentuate the coolness. Apart from that I slept warm and dry and was awoken by the dawn chorus of bird song:)
Me and my other half went into a cave in Laos many years back. We had a local man to take us in. All he had was a candle and from what I remember of it, the candle was just a little bigger than a Birthday candle. Yes our eyes got accustomed to the dark of the cave and the power of one candle light. Amazing how much we could see in the dark cave.. surprisingly how long one candle lasted. Think the tour was over 1.5 hrs long. Watching this video in a tent this morning, up in the peak District alas in a campsite 😅 Had owls out last night with their calls and later the morning birds. Beautiful sounds. Keep up the good work 👍
Nice one Tim, Yes a candle is all we need most of the time. One of the reasons I go out on these camps is to be able to hear the owls and the dawn chorus
Got home late from work and wanted an adventure in the rain, with a nice meal cooked on a small wood burning stove. You fit the bill perfectly.. I only had mashed potatoes & gravy, so I was eyeing up that nice steak of yours. Had a great time hangin’ out with ya..(and I had a beer too)
Another wonderful video Sandy👍👍. Bought back fond memories of our first camping experience. 1959, our first full year in Canada. Dad wanted to camp lol (cheap holiday), my uncle loaned us a 4 person tent and a Coleman lantern. Friday after dad finished work we set off on a 4 hour drive to Rock Lake Algonquin Park. Pitch black when we arrived. Dad and my brother set the tent up just before it started to teem with rain. No ground sheet, NO sleeping bags just newspapers for under the wool blankets that mom had folded in half and pinned together with blanket pins. We all huddled around the centre pole, 3 kids, 2 adults and our boxer named Fritz lol. What an adventure. The rain pounding on the tent and then the best experience ever, the eerie sound of wolves calling back and forth across the lake. We had no stove so we cooked over an open fire. Simpler times. You are a real ‘trooper’ . Stay safe and well. Judy🇨🇦
Hi Judy That is a fantastic memory to have and the sound of Wolves must be a real wilderness sound just wonderful. I can imagine that sound and the echoes and clarity of sound you get in some remote areas.
Oh Sandy if only you'd managed to get the tent up in time , it might of alleviated the squelchyness a Tad , Eddie certainly did a good ole job on the skirts & tie out pouches sandy 👏👏👏 if you hadn't done this camp , we'd of never known of the conditions 🙌🙌 thankyou for taking us along Sandy 👍

I can't wait until you cook a meal with veggies from your garden. Over the years I have come NEVER to trust what the meteorologists forecast....they have their heads in the clouds! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Hi Joe, I reckon the weather men still get things wrong, but they get them right a lot of the time too. The veggies are really growing fast now that we have some warmth, so good food is not too far away

Hi Sandy, just catching up on some of your great vids especially with adventures in scotland, I'd love a motorcycle again but recently been suffering bad arthritic joints knee and shoulder, wear and tear I guess, just wondered how you were coping being a similar age, especially in damp conditions, keeping mobile cycling I guess helps a lot. @@WiltshireMan Hi yeah cycling and swimming has helped me a lot over time, I suffered stills disease a rare arthritis in the knees & almost ended up in a wheelchair, but waa determined to keep going...
We can always rely on our good ol English weather to dampen things down Sandy, you stayed the course mate and enjoyed the experience, nice one and all the best to you 👍🏻
We sure have had more than our fair share of rain lately. I know we still like to get out and do our thing, for I have been caught out a few times this spring. I am not sure if it is fun or madness to keep taking a chance on the rain. I take my hat of to you braving the rain and the mud for a local camp. Cheers.
Thanks Charles, my take on wet weather is that skin is waterproof and you can always get dry and warm when your back home. Go out and get a good soaking:)
Hi Sandy it’s not so much the rain. What gets to me more, is the mud and the cold. Living in the Uk we have put up with such conditions if we don’t want it to stop us getting out. Cleaning the bikes after every ride can be a bit of a pain though. I bet drying the tent is more of a faff though. Once again they are talking about a hot summer we ca but hope . Cheers🚲🚲🚲⛺️⛺️⛺️👍🍺🍺
We are looking at a rainy weekend this week, it is a bank holiday after all lol. We used to use unburnt sticks et. in a muddy entrance. Take care and stay safe.
Rather you than me, every footstep had a squelch to it. Rain always makes me feel cold, even on a warm day. Like you say, things are sometimes beyond your control, and nature puts everything right for us in the end.
Yes Bry, every footstep was accompanied by a Squelch. I was beginning to doubt myself a bit when the rain started to puddle in the front of my shelter but all was good. I always sleep well when it's a little cool and rainy, I snuggle into the sleeping bag and doze off to sleep, I find it very soothing when the rain is gentle.
I felt it, the cold, the wet, the muddy mess. This global warming lark does appear to be completely false ha ha. It's been a bad spring so far. That steak looked ace
Hi Darren, It's been one of the coldest and wettest Springs I have ever experienced. I'm growing as much food as I can in my garden at the moment so am very tuned into how the weather is going. I've known for a long time about the need for the gas of life, without it the plants don't grow and we would all perish! Hope all good in the Funky camp. EyUp Sandy, another great video keep making these videos. Please help. Can you tell me what size brass press studs you use on knife sheaths and where I can obtain them.
evening. I'm liking the candle lantern but I'm doing the usual 'research' on the web and finding they're 50 quid or more and need special candles. Hmmmm. I'll stick with the head torch. Or can you recommend anything that is either cheaper or really worth that kind of money? Cheers
Hi Neil I'm not a salesman for candle lanterns but if you have found one for £50 buy it, that is half what they normally cost. As for candles, I just use cheap candles from amazon and cut them in half to fit. They will burn for around 3 to 4 hours
It really has been wet out, my garden seems to have been under an inch of water for weeks now. My allotment being heavy clay is only good for growing watercress. Glad you’re still managing to spend some time in our natural habitat. Curious to know, how would you go about cleaning your tent? Cheers 🍻 - Andy
Hi Andy, The tent didn't get too muddy, I won't ever clean a tent you'll probably do more harm than good. If it does get muddy it will soon become clean again when camping in the next rain shower:)
Nice saw Sandy. Would you say it is more versatile/efficient than a pull saw such as the Laplander? Going to the Isle of Wight on the Tiger next week…looking forward to using my Jacklore Scout in camp.
Both types of saw have their advantages, this one is great when you want to cut lots of small wood for the firebox stove because you can hold it with your feet like I did in this video
Bit of a shame there Sandy, you were unlucky with the weather. The ground just wasn't draining at all was it? Do you have places to camp that are on higher ground? It has been a wet spring tho. I've been out 6 or 8 times since March, think they were all muddy! February was a great month tho, long dry spells with lovely clear frosty night skies. Do you have a preference between winter/summer camping?
Lovely film Sandy. It must have been hard work setting up all those camera angles, especially when the rain was due. It’s easy to forget how much work goes into your films while being immersed in the viewing of them.Great stuff, and many thanks.
Another enjoyable video. Would you use one of your ebikes on a trip like that, or would the rain have been a problem? I'm still wondering whether to get one of those eleglide bikes.
Hi Chris, I would be perhaps more careful to put a rain tarp over an ebike just incase. The Eleglide is a lovely bike for the money, I shall be riding mine again tomorrow. I had to change the pedals though as the ones supplied were cheap plastic jobs but apart from that all is good
Thank you for sharing your adventure! Thank you for taking me along, Sandy. Cheers!

Hi Neil I'm not a salesman for candle lanterns but if you have found one for £50 buy it, that is half what they normally cost.
As for candles, I just use cheap candles from amazon and cut them in half to fit. They will burn for around 3 to 4 hours
One of my favourite stoves is the Coleman 533. It’s a pump up similar to a primes stove.
I have had two Coleman 533 stoves Harold and both of them have let me down. I prefer the Trangia alcohol stoves, they will never let you down!
Cool. Very relaxing. Nice piece of steak. Do you not have a ground sheet for this tent?
No ground sheet only in the sleeping area Alex
Wettest muddiest camp and yet we have a drought and hosepipe bans...
I thought I recognised the pouch the tent was in
That was made by Mack
@@WiltshireMan spotted it in one of his videos
The things we do in the name of fun😂
Haaa yes indeed Howard. A stainless knife would have been great for this trip, my Classic got wet and I had to dry and oil it this morning
Thought you were at Glastonbury 😅
Lovely film Sandy. It must have been hard work setting up all those camera angles, especially when the rain was due. It’s easy to forget how much work goes into your films while being immersed in the viewing of them.Great stuff, and many thanks.
It takes a bit of effort Neil but it's all good fun to me
Shame you didn't have a small HF set to play with during the rain lockdown.
👍👍👍
Meanwhile not too far away from you, Devon & Cornwall, they have a hosepipe ban.
I think it's because the infrastructure has not been put in place as the new builds went in, lots of folk crammed into a small part of the country
I had to change the pedals though as the ones supplied were cheap plastic jobs but apart from that all is good
Thanks for that. Always enjoy your videos, take care.☺
Hi Sandy have you looked into how much it cost to charge your e-bike battery up?
To charge the Cyrusher Ranger which has the biggest battery of all my Ebikes at 1000 Watt/hrs costs around 55 pence at current prices Lewis
Awful mate qdos for sticking it out 👍🏻🚴
I bet you jumped into a warm bath after that one.
