In 45 degree the sternal angle coincides with the upper border of the clavicle in a way that they are going to be lying in the same horizontal plane If the patient was elevated by 45 degree then he should have taken the measurement by placing the scale from the upper border of clavicle But since the patient is lying he took the measurements from the sternal angle so I guess that way it's compensated
sir i could only see pulsations lateral to what you showed as IJV is it the same as IJV pulsation or something else ? couldnt see pulsations on the SCM border
I think what you see is actually the Internal Jugular Vein pulsation, judging by the lateral positioning and waveform. As to what he points out with stick and we cannot see in the video, i think those are Carotid Artery pulsations.
Sir I noticed in my dad age 55+ , while every EXPIRATION, it was more prominent (right)JVD as he was sleeping left sided. Everyday he smoke 2 cigarettes. he has no history of hyper/hypotension/ diabetes. SIR is that normal or need medical assistatance?
Simple and easy amazing explanation
Thank you doc
Your explanation is really simple and amazing ....thank you sooooo much❤
Why the patient isn’t 45 degree elevated?
In 45 degree the sternal angle coincides with the upper border of the clavicle in a way that they are going to be lying in the same horizontal plane
If the patient was elevated by 45 degree then he should have taken the measurement by placing the scale from the upper border of clavicle
But since the patient is lying he took the measurements from the sternal angle so I guess that way it's compensated
@@spockmx9426've noticing this from last few days? Is it serious? I'm 21 years old, my BP is 100/60, my BMI is normal.
@@apurbamallick6633 you are fine don't worry it's common
@@spockmx9426 Thanks 😊 I visited to a GP and he said it's perfectly normal.
Distance between sternal angle and right atrium is relatively constant in this level ❤
This procedure seems different from the one in Macleods
normal jvp is
Is it not 4 -10cm again????
Simple and easy to understand
Thanks sir very informative easy to understood..

Measurements is incorrectly because why don't identify straight line of scale
sir i could only see pulsations lateral to what you showed as IJV
is it the same as IJV pulsation or something else ?
couldnt see pulsations on the SCM border
Other neck veins pulsation

same doubt , I can't make out where he is saying about internal jugular pulsation
@@akankshayadav557 same here
Same doubt.... there is no ijv in video....
Why is the rule coming from the highest JVP raised?
We known normal JVP is 9cmH2O,
8.5cmH2O is raised JVP, how it possible?
what is normal range
@@sushantkanethia8984 8-9cm
@@DileepKumar-mu1nw it's 6-8cmH2O the doc is right :)
How to recognise the waveforms??😊
5-8cm H20 is normal jvp
9 normal hein
4+5=9
Why adding 5cm??
Because approx distance from sternal angle to right atrium is 5cm...and JVP technically is the pressure in the right atrium. Hope that made sense
Disatance from aorta to sternal angle
Why 5 is added?
Because the sternal angle lies 5cm above the right atrium and you want to measure the distance from the right atrium.
Very informative

How will a vein have pulsation
Connected to the heart
What is the normal range of JVP
Good sir
Is this something bad?? I get that sometimes 😳
Yes it indicates a problem.. please get checked
what do you have? visible vein? Did you go a doctor to check? İs it abnormal that visible and fast vein on neck while lying down? Thanks
Why are we adding 5 cm?
The right atrium lies 5 cm below the sternal angle
What is normal jvp?
@@gurpreetsingh393 about 8cmH20
To know the level of jvp from right atrium 5cm is the distance from right atrium to sternal angle
Isnt it corresponding to right atrial pressure?
Thank you so much

SIR is that normal or need medical assistatance?
Show to some physician
Did anyone noticed i phone 13 pro Max 😅
Kyu nahi ho rahi padhai?
Why are you adding 5?
Center of right atrium lies approximately 5 cms below sternal angle at 45 degree angle
45 angle sirrr plzz
What is the normal JVP value?
6-8cms
6-8 cm of H20
3-5 cm is normal
In supine position jvp comes elevated
