Last but not least I want to give HUGE SHOUTOUT to the entire CSI Starbase team on discord. This dedicated team of 200+ agents with specialties ranging all across the board, has been crucial in getting the most accurate info for these episodes. Couldn't do it without yal! - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
I don't understand how CSI Starbase does not have millions of subscribers. CSI Starbase sets the standard by which all others are judged.
It's still a young channel, not even 2 years old. By it's age, I'd say it's doing pretty well. If this quality keeps up I expect numbers comparable to Everyday Astronaut not too long from now.
"
Yeah, it’s a bit sad to hear that despite his incredible talent and passion to produce such amazing content, it is financially not feasible to do this full-time, and Zack has to make a step back and do this only as a side job again. One of the best SpaceX content creators out there. Just shows the utter incompetence of TH-cam to support quality content, and if you watch the recent news, where YT wants established creators to PAY to get their content promoted, it’s getting worse, not better over time. This company is circling the drain, and I just hope all high quality creators are going to find a viable alternative before it’s too late.
it's very niche even within space flight and his videos are hard to digest (long) and 2 years is not that long.
Everyday astronaut took 4 years to get to this point, that just how youtube works.
Apogee is an other on who produces great content, unfortunately I think he has given up.
Give it time brouhaha!!! We are on the way there now! Onwards and upwards!!! Skys the limit for Zack and his team!!
This was an absolutely incredible episode. The amount of research, the level of detail, the clear explanations...mind-blowing!
THank you!!
Actually all they needed to do (which they basically did) was build their launch pad the same way everyone else has been building them for the last 60 years.
@@stubee2011this is genius. You should tell somebody.
@@stubee2011 I have always been a proponent of the "do it right the first time" mentality, and NASA has certainly taken that approach, because they can't afford to fail. They took years and billions of dollars to construct the Florida launch complex used by Apollo, and it has clearly held up well to this day, being used by the Space Shuttle program, the new Space Launch System, and even SpaceX itself for the launch of its Falcon rockets.
However, I have been willing to give SpaceX the benefit of the doubt regarding their less-than-robust launch pad configuration, since they have a completely different approach to project development. Instead of spending a decade working everything out perfectly before hand, SpaceX prefers to iterate frequently on its designs, learning from every attempt and making changes on the fly. This is a perfectly valid approach, as long as money is saved in the long run.
However, SpaceX at this point has spent so much time and money on the development of Starship and its launchpad that it often seems like the only thing making it less expensive than NASA's more methodical and robust approach is the fact that Starship will hopefully be fully reusable.
I can understand people's frustration with SpaceX not "doing it right the first time," but to be completely fair, Starship is the largest and most powerful rocket ever flown. Even NASA's current launch complex wouldn't be able to handle it. So trying a completely new approach may actually make sense, especially when you factor in the plan to build dozens or even hundreds of Starship launchpads worldwide and on Mars. A traditional launchpad may be the best solution for a single location, but can't be quickly or affordably replicated worldwide. So maybe SpaceX is actually thinking a lot further into the future than we are giving them credit for.
1000% Agreed !
This is the new standard for SpaceX deep dive videos. Bravo Zack and team.
One of your best episodes yet. The amount of detailed physics was amazing. It’s great to have you back in action, Zack!
it really is insane how fast they built this thing. Truly an engineering marvel.
they're just throwing shit at the wall
You do realize the only real difference between throwing shit at the wall and iterative engineering that gets shit done fast is simply competence/results right?
The first space programs followed a very similar development cycle to what SpaceX is doing today rather than the bureaucratic inefficiency and distributed responsibility where nobody is really in command of the organization that Boeing et al do today.
Zac, the friction of re-entry isn’t what creates the majority of the heat. It is actually the compressive effect of such high entry speeds on the atmosphere.
Yeah I was going to mention the compression heating but forgot to include that part. The TPS tile section was of low importance to me but I wanted to answer the question
You can't get friction without something to compress. It seems you are talking about different parts of the same equation
ok obviously you guys have some experience here.. so as the air gets more dense does the balance of the equation change leaning more to friction energy?
@@twistedneck To save a long drawn out comment, i suggest looking up scott manlys video on this subject. short answer, friction is not even worth mentioning when talking about this process.
This is gourmet starship content, michelin star, top notch, tasty stuff.
My compliments to the Chefs.
Listening to this presenter is a pleasure. I have hearing difficulties, and so many presenters speak either incomprehensibly, or in a way that makes one wonder if they ever attended an English language lesson in primary school. I'd happily listen to this presenter describing paint drying, just for the pleasure of understanding the words, and appreciating the expertise. What he says, and the way he says it, make it a real treat for the entire hour!
Amazing comment Kenneth, it's very much appreciated.
Seeing the plasma spilling off the shuttle was one of the coolest things I've got to watch live.
I doubt even SpaceX itself could've produced such an elegantly informative episode!
Truly this is the Premiere Site of all things Starbase!
Thank You So Much !!!
😅
It doesn't get better than your videos, mate. You never miss.
Zack and his team have raised the bar for SpaceX coverage, the graphics are excellent and greatly enhance the episodes, we are in your debt.
Your detailed analysis and production quality never ceases to amaze me.
Astonishingly good episode. No one else does what you do and it this much detail. In my opinion, SpaceX should offer you VIP access to their site and engineering team.
Strong agree!
The sheer amount of engineering that went into designing the "showerhead" is mind-boggling.
Each piece being one of a kind. Then they had to build it in a little over four months. People are awesome.
The movie Contact comes to mind. Without the alien blueprints.
This was entertaining without being boring. Good job.
They've got 3 more to build once it's proven itself fully. (That is, once there's been a successful full power launch.) Plan, last eloquted by Elon was 2ea in both KSC and Bocachica.
Just think, if he gets a second going, and up to intended daily launch cadence, the noise alone will devalue to housing in boca.
@@WilliamHostman devalue? think again.. i'd love to have those rocket noises going daily.
@@WilliamHostmanGood thing the daily launches won't happen at land tho
I'm pretty certain that the odd elbow coming off the bottom of the big deluge manifold is what we call a "low point drain". I designed many piping systems with low-point drains and high-point vents to facilitate draining the systems for maintenance and refilling them safely and completely with no air pockets.
Zack makes the best Starbase content, not even close
What an absolute fantastic deep dive video, worth every second of watching. Thanks to all creators involved in this huge effort to inform us. The research, the animation and even Zach’s presentation, they’re all of incredibly high quality. Thanks everyone.
"... The gasses can easily exist from between the legs."😂
lmao didn't think about that one when I said it
It’s amazing how fast they learned from that failed launch and rebuilt the launch pad with all the modifications in such short time. No wonder SpaceX is the most sought after employer. They got some real smart and dedicated people working there. Excellent video. You earned my sub.
Dude. Incredible detail. Way to rock modern space flight. Thanks to you and your entire team.
Another simply outstanding episode as always Zack! You go above and beyond, each video just gets better and better. Always appreciate the work you do to teach all of us these immensely complex systems! Enjoy your break, you deserve it. We'll still be here when you come back.
Well made episode that shed so much light on a largely hidden, and dense, engineering marvel system. Thank you so much Zack.
This channel is criminally underrated.
Well done Zac and Team. This episode just shows not just the incredible effort of Space X, but the investigative quality of the process that youguys have gone through to give us the insights that you have. Collating the footage into what is a superb episode was truly breathtaking. Thank you.
It's always a great day when you wake up and there is a new CSI Starbase short movie.
All hail Plate!
I just found this channel from pt.1 of this video. I decided to watch part 2 immediately after. Im shout halfway through, and thought to myself, how have I not found this guy yet? Hes got to be huge. And then i saw the subscribers. Sixty five thousand at this moment. How? This is amazing content. Super in depth research with great editing and relevant footage to go along with the discussions. What an awesome production. Youve gained one new subscriber. Hopefully, many more after me.
What an amazing deep dive!! Easily the best Starbase in-depth coverage channel on TH-cam! I am learning so much from your episodes and thank you!
Amazing job, as always
Ps: poor bird 38:00
Supersonic blowtorches. We need to make a t-shirt pronto lol
In short "It's rocket science!" Outstanding analysis, especially the explanation of how the immense amount of information obtained from IFT1 has informed progress. Nothing validates engineering as much as real life which is why testing to failure is so critical.
This has to be the best ever vidio detailing how SpaceX has managed to get round the problem of not having a flame trench. A big thank you Zack for all your hard work.
Brilliant work as always! Your videos are more like an event rather than a typical video. Everything else is put aside when you upload!
Can confirm.
Zack, your content is simply the most comprehensive and credible analysis of the Starbase ground systems available. Thanks for all the effort you've put into this episode.
It marvels me to this day how can people not get excited about a near hour long deep dive video on a rocket bidet system. Great job, as always.
God, I love this channel. Funny, original, creative and especially informative. Zack: I'm so sorry it's so long. Us: MOAR Please! 3 hours would be fine... Awesome that this channel took off, amazed it's not at 500K. 12:21 Never skip Overkill. Thanks buddy!
Zack You Rock!!!! Never fail to excite us all! Rock On!!!
The longer the episode the better it is, great content as usual
Thank you!
This channel is one of TH-cam's hidden gems. Great quality!
Great job Zack, Please don't look for a job at SpaceX. We need your here.
Thanks for the excellent report on the water deluge system. Superb information!! Thanks for your deep dive.
Really enjoy your factual and analytical approach to…communicating these stories. Brilliant!!!
Awesome video. I especially loved seeing some of the actual math behind things like the force from engines vs shower head and others. 3D models were also excellent.
I don’t think we could get a more complete explanation or more detailed information if SpaceX themselves made a video. Stunning work, thank you!
Again a perfect episode CSI starbase!
Love the longer episodes, perfect material when you need something to see during long boring days!
Please keep these episodes coming, we love them.
Calmed my anxiety about the bidet system, looking forward to more testing!
OMG!!!!! There is a poor black crow flying under the launch platform at 36:10 and is turned into feathers and crow pancake by 36:14. He picked the wrong time to fly around the worksite looking for half eaten sandwiches or other treats on the ground. This was an awesome episode big guy , I love the way you lay everything out so clear and concise. I can't wait to see what you come up with for the next episode.
I was just to post about this poor bird myself!
Congratulations on another exceptional video posting!
Also thanks to everyone on the entire team who pitched in aggregating all this information into a easily digestible presentation.
WE ARE NOT WORTHY!!! :-)
I wish you could sell these series of systems operations to Major Network media when they actually decide to start really covering the launches and achievements from SpaceX. The explanations are so concise, well executed, and at a quality level they could never hope to match! All of the productions you & the team create deserve gold stars!
Sir, may your life be full of joy & contentment. I know I'm grateful for all you share!
Best regards,
M-
DANG.. Best episode ever. Great deep dive and you really explain and show it for us non-rocket scientists.
This channel is the VERY easily the best space X analysis channel being worked on today. Better than everyday astronaut, better than all the others. No contest. The amount of research you put into these videos is incredible. THANK YOU
These deep dives are getting better and better, this one has an incredible amount of detail giving a great overview of how the new deluge system actually works. This is easily my favourite channel now for SpaceX coverage.
Thank you!
You make incredible videos bro - well researched and presented
Very clear voice and excellent enunciation, which makes it easier to better understand/comprehend the complex concepts. This is important because my 80 year-old ears have lost part of their higher frequency sensitivity, resulting in increased difficulty converting word streams into meaningful and mentally absorbable phrases. The inability to comprehend in real time either means rewinding and repeating one or more times or falling behind and missing important information or simply giving up. None of these problems have occurred with your excellent videos.
Hi Roger, thanks for the kind words, Zack works very hard recording his voiceover so it does just as you describe. This episode's voiceover take count was over 800, refining all the way to just before the render and publication. Thanks again.
thanks to everyone for your hard works! This channel should have millions of followers!
Well Done! Finally, an authoritative reference to the Orbital Launch Mount Water Cooling System. Thank you!
Wow Dude! The production quality of this channel is amazing!
I love the in depth information, its extremely well written, and delivered, and researched.
The best channel in this regard. This channel should be much much bigger than it is.
It gets a sub from me.
I just love this upload. I hope to see another update asap.
thank you so much for this effort.
CSI Starbase and Everyday Astronaut are the two best channels covering SpaceX IMO 🚀👍🏻🤜
Man I've been waiting for you. Finally some great content to eat up, no pun intended of course.
Awesome detail as before. Great work.
Exciting video, can't wait!!
can tell already i will hafta re-watch this many times, excellent narration and video!
Love your videos Zack, they are always of the highest quality! You are really setting the bar high for others...
This is amazing!!!! These videos are great to watch over and over again and they always stay informative and interesting! Love the videos!
OUTSTANDING!! Another GREAT video. Love all your detail. You guys/gals do a great job!!
Another great episode from you and your team. Keep up the good work
You got yourself a new subscriber, very well done! These 55 minutes went by in no time! Will check out your other video's as well.

Brilliant CSI
Well done Zack. Nice piece of polishing from the pre-release (members only - please join to see these!). This is the third time I've watched this and I've found bits I've missed in previous viewings!
This is just such an amazing episode! Great research and so much attention to detail. Lot’s of compliments to the whole team of CSI Starbase!
Thanks Dennis, your comment and those around yours are amazing, it means a lot to know that you all enjoy our efforts.
This is such a mind-blowing episode!
Way beyond satisfying!
Thank you so much for your incredible deep dive into the nitty gritty details. I love your enthusiasm and attention to the small details. Great job, please keep it up.
Thanks for all the hard work, dedication, and focus on attention to (accurate) detail!
Incredible video! amazing job
Superb video! The amount of information in this video and research needed to figure it out is awesome. It's a shame that I can only like this video once.
Great video and explanation Zack and CSI (and special mention to all the Spacex personnel that were working 24x7 !)
Such amazing content, seriously, this is the stuff we would wait forever for to show up on nat geo but this is better quality.
Absolutely excellent work, well researched, concisely written and presented, thanks a lot from Australia!!
The visuals and writing are spot on in the video. You have an incredible talent to transfer the technical data across to a not-so-technical audience. As an engineer in the aerospace industry, I know how much effort this can be. Well done on creating such high quality content.
This was your most detailed video yet as of me following you 👍 Really awesome!!!New Patreon supporter, you are the most detailed SpaceX channel by far!
Thank you for your support! Glad you enjoyed it
Dude Kudo's , thank you for this clear and informed analysis, and as mentioned in other comments, you deserve many more subscribers!
Cooling the engine exhaust and sound energy dampening will convert a portion of the deluge water into steam. It would be interesting to calculate that water which would not end up in the retention pond.
Excellent video good information nice job. Waiting for next episode....
Great work man. Nobody is that complete in this analysis. I love the details.
The production quality of this was amazing. This channel is going to blow up
