Considering you could do this anywhere....Why would you do it where you need massive AC units? Wouldn't this be far more profitable in a cooler climate....basically ANYWHERE else
Because we are even more desperate for water savings. When agriculture uses 70% of the millions of acre-feet of water the state uses every year and vertical farming can save water when we need it, and especially when water saving equals more energy production at our dams then the benefits outweigh the negatives.
It's really too bad but a lot of us know that the way that they're growing the food it doesn't really taste all that great when you taste their way of growing salad greens and then taste a farmer who grows theirs in the dirt you can definitely tell the difference. It is a great way to grow water is a shortage and mother nature is not always so nice.
Would be an awesome place to work, but I'm sure the only jobs are computer diagnostics
