    Maintanied chasis -check
    Youngtimer status -check
    Classic interior -check
    P.S. saw a lot of guys changing the fan clutch to a electrical ventilator as well, as it is more optimal at keeping the engine cool, for the fan clutch system as it is is a complicated and not so perfect mecanysm, still decided to keep to the clucth, changed it to a new one keeping it authentical, for the electrical ventilator despite being a better solution is noisy af, so imagine now having not just this one working, but all 3 of them (or 2 of u have a 4 cilinder eng) working at once, people outside would think u drive a vacuum cleaner.
    Also, thank u mate, so few good w124 channels on youtube, and quality vids like this, will become more appreciated with time when newer generations will consider buying a cult classic like w124.

      Thank you for the kind words! I had considered replacing the fan clutch with electric fans but decided against it due to simplicity. With the rest of the cooling upgrades the fan clutch system was good enough.

    +1. Great resource for any W124 owner !! . With vender links to boot... The Becker/Mercedes AM/FM/CD unit is a late1990s to 2000 Becker unit having been sold to Ferrari , MB, Porsche and Lancia. . In Porsche land the radio is the CDR-220. Identical units as only the name changes. . Lucky find the Mercedes version radio. .. Its removable faceplate must come in handy with your W124 being a convertible.. My wife's '00 Boxster also had this radio. ...

    AMG wheels I bought from a European vendor. I am going to follow your advice first on the cooling system upgrade first, as my car is
    in Tulum Mexico where we have constant hot weather. Thanks!

    Great video! I know you posted this 1 year ago, was wondering how the thermostat mod affected your car for this past year? I am asking because some ppl on BenzWorld do not recommend doing that

    • @SoCal210
      @SoCal210  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The thermostat has made the biggest difference. It prevents the car from overheating. The thermostat and the resistor are the 2 biggest things that drastically improve the cooling capabilities on this car. The boomers at benzworld don’t understand that this car runs too hot in warmer climates so they prefer to blow a headgasket instead of improving their car.

    Hey! Glad I found your channel! Recently bought '92 W124 Coupe. Building an AMG replica. I've a question about the Wincos tint. Can you still see through the windows? I know they're clear as day in the video, but in my country you can't tint front windows. So was wondering how much light it is blocking and if I'll get in trouble hehe. Thanks for the video and tips!

    • @SoCal210
      @SoCal210  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t lol. About -3 in the rear. I haven’t had any uneven wear so far. A good alignment will help minimize the camber wear. If you want to get it back to factory specification you will need to replace the camber arms with adjustable ones.

    What is the AMG fender spacer you mentioned? I assume your car has rear SLS. The SportLine springs and shocks are just perfect. Readily available from German suppliers.

    • @SoCal210
      @SoCal210  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fender spacers are basically just nylon washers that sit between the fender and the body of the car that poke out the fenders a little bit more in order to clear to wider AMG wheels. It was recommended to do per AMG if installing wheels or body kits. The kit makes the front bumper and side skirt line up better as well. The original kit included all the washers and extended bolts. The kit is now NLA but there are some replica kits on eBay you can find. Sometimes you will come across new old stock too. Another option is going to your local hardware store and buying nylon washers and longer bolts. The original stuff was nothing fancy. The kits can be $100-200.
      My car does not have SLS. I do prefer the higher stance of the sport line springs but I found a great deal on my H&R. The lower stance does look good even though navigating through bad roads, dips, and driveways is pretty stressful. Good thing it is not my daily driver. Since there is no SLS I put matching Koni adjustable shocks in the rear as well.
      As far as I know in the USA only wagons and 500E’s came standard with SLS. It was optional on sedans. I have never seen a US cabriolet with SLS, only euro cars.

    • @RushmoorFizzbomb
      @RushmoorFizzbomb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AMG fender spacers do not line up the rear fender edge with the original side skirt. They are a mismatch. Furthermore they open up a gap inside the fender allowing road mud and water to fill up the exposed cavities. I can not recommend them for this reason, however they are needed if you fit the AMG wheels.
      If you have AMG side skirts the AMG fender spacers might line up better, but as only poor quality bond on copies are now available I can not comment.

    • @SoCal210
      @SoCal210  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the original side skirts you are able to add a spacer there as well which allows it to line up. I have personally seen it and it looks good. The original AMG side skirts are molded to line up with the fender spacers. Copies may or may not implement this as well.

    • @michaelschneider-
      @michaelschneider- 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SoCal210 +1 Agreed. . Of the W124 chassis cars, SLS was optionally fitted to the wagon & V8 sedans yet standard fitment to the 5.0 V8 500 E / E500 sedan range .. (North America at least) . . P.S. My '94 Coupe is fitted with OE Sportline coil springs & OE Bilstein (B4+) Sportline Dampers. . A bit troublesome to locate back in 2016,, but.

    Nice ride dude! I was wondering if the LEDs tripped a light on the dash. I heard from people on benzworld saying that LEDs will trip the light on the dash, just wondering if it happened to you. And also did you use regular bump stops or different bump stops with the lowering kit?

    • @SoCal210
      @SoCal210  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The way I did the LEDs I did not trip the light on the dash. I detailed it completely in my W124 LED guide video. I’m pretty certain that I went with the cabriolet specific bump stops.

  • @UtBatra

    Thanks for this video, I have a 95’ E320 sedan and have nodded the life out of it, but I did the resistor mod a while ago, but removed it, I will probably put it back, my car runs pretty hot sometimes and worries me as timing gets retarded and head gasket is original and I didn’t know the fan clutch was interchangeable, and I’ve always wanted to change the thermostat but benzworld members suggested I don’t, has everything been good for you, cause I would love to do these mods to lower the heat

    • @SoCal210
      @SoCal210  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cooling mods were probably the best thing I did to the car. Car has no chance of overheating this way under any circumstance and almost never retards timing. And no the car doesn’t run too cool either. Some people at Benzworld weren’t a big fan of my cooling mods because they’d rather have their car be original and overheat rather than improve it.

      That is a mod I wanted to do as well but requires running a wire through the a pillar on the cabriolet which I didn’t want to do because it is very likely the a pillar will be damaged when removed because of the brittle plastic backing. On all the other models it’s much simpler.
