Something I always tell people is that you’ve got to 100% disconnect your enjoyment of the game from winning/losing when solo queuing. Especially in 6v6, it’s almost entirely out of your Control

Gjerda out here dropping life facts using D2 as a setpiece. Control (not the pvp mode) is an illusion. Mayhem (also not the pvp mode) is okay. Love it. Great job as always

I have said it before, but I just love your mindset. Video was spot on and super well done! While I don't venture into PVP much these days, when I do, I have a ton of fun. I generally just play Iron Banner, Trials (on new adept loot weeks) and whatever the seasonal challenges dictate. But playing mayhem the first week with peregrine greaves and 100 strength on Arc Juggernaut titan was so much fun, whether I won or lost. I think you are correct, that people lose sight of the fact a game is supposed to be fun! Anyways, good to see you back with another video, can't wait for the next one!

Try cryosthesia guys. Use a reloader mod, or use Mechaneer's tricksleeves. A wave GL is great to get the initial kill, but if you want to snipe too that's cool. I have over 15,000 kills with it, always a fun time to freeze on demand.

I'm at my burnout point with pvp after the meta last season. I know omni/low was nerfed but still not a fan of the current map rotation and the weapon meta it forces. I wanna use goofy shit for fun but i get beamed by 3 NTTE lol. I'm just taking a small break from pvp for the time being until I cool off.
I didnt forget, they just nerfed everything I did because it was oppressive then gave me sbmm anyway (:

One of my fondest pvp memories was grinding Mountaintop.
I was intimidated the grind, half of it was because I was not familiar with GL at all.
Next thing I knew I spent 3 days in IB, having the most fun I ever had with an Orewing Maul. I mercied, got mercied, even we ran'd with a weapon I thought I couldn't use. Then topped it off with a short trip to Fabled.
You're right. It's easy to fall into a lull once you reach a certain point. Destiny is partially to blame but so am I. I loved the feeling of being new again, trying things out and succeeding.
Maybe not double primary sidearms, but Forerunner and an SMG with Peacekeeper makes sense as a loadout but also viable ish

The beauty of Destiny 2 PvP has always been the variety to me. There are so many different ways to play this game now, that obviously it could never be considered a 'competitive' game, but I love it for that. I often get bored of other games because every match can sometimes feel the same because it's so well balanced. Destiny just hits different. I love loading into a Trials match and seeing some cracked player with 5000 Trials kills with their Cerberus+1, or matching a Titan who literally only kills other players via melee (21, 405 kills and counting last time I checked). Seeing those kinds of things always make me smile. You can play how you want and win or lose, you're having fun doing it.

How to have fun in PvP?
Simple. Play only iron banner. It's suprisingly the least sweaty gamemode
Recently got Vex mythoclast. But Im not good with it, and Ive been raging a lot. Ill try to rrmember this in my next crucible matches and I'll see how it goes.
(I love using Vex mythoclast though. My favorite gun. Just dont really know what to pair it with.)
What ruins PvP for me is the playstyles that people have recently started playing with. I’m tired of getting ball grouped or teamshot from the back of a spawn by 3/4 of their team who just wont leave their spawn and love holding hands. Every single game I play except for maybe one every so often people have 1 of 2 playstyles I run into. 1, hold hands and team shot; whether that be camping in the back of the map with scouts and pulses or ball grouping around the map deleting you as you spawn. And 2, shotgun ape. Just run in a straight line with max move speed and shotgun or solo super a guy and proceed to die immediately.
These main problems I have are only compounded by only having decent teammates 1/3 games and playing sweats 24/7.

Speaking from experience dont take a CS:GO approach instead think of it more like a fighting game. with a few exceptions you can mostly counter.
I've always struggled with enjoying pvp. It makes me super anxious, like someone is watching me over my shoulder and judging my every move. I have enjoyed some pvp titles in the past but I have no idea what makes me love those and fear everything else. I'm just trying to have fun with the game, since I know I can enjoy pvp. I just don't know how.
Love every bit of it. My current issue is that my match making hasn’t been a dice roll. I’m sitting around a 1.5 KD. Since their newest change to SBMM with making it looser I’ve been playing with only the top .1 percent. I’m talking 2.5 to 5 KD.
I’m trying hard to use anything that I know has worked in the past. But when I start the game at the back of the lineup and end each game with a .7 to .8. Idk man it’s hard not to wait for it to get better from the developers end.
This is such a good video. I've hated pvp since I started playing the game but ever since I swapped to pc (1 month ago) I've been insanely good at it and I've been having so much fun. My secret is that I play in lower skill lobbies but I use Grey weapons so it balances out. I now love everything about destiny 2 (except gambit).
Since you’re talking about having fun I’ll put down the build I personally enjoy the most.
Gemini Jesters with the ragnhild and the pali is downright just fun and a little nostalgic. I triple down on the blinding with disorientating punch and the Flashbang grenade. Run it with the new Arc hunter with blink and you’ll be Zooming around like the good ol days of blink shotgunning like in D1. Sure shottys and Aerial gameplay have been nerfed but man nothing beats teleporting behind a blinded enemy and finishing them off with a shotgun melee.
I started d2 in 2021, and my first impression of pvp was, don't ever play it again,
now after playing with friends and just being better at the game in general
I have fun playing pvp with silly builds and even sometimes some of them work really well
Only time I get mad anymore is when I get really long streaks of bad matchmaking lol
I dont care about the meta or whatever cheese people need to use to win. I just want melees to be "fixed" nerfed and of course better connection :). melee range should be capped at 3m, boom fixed. They've spent so much time nerfing shotguns and making everything feel shit when melees have always been the issue. why do ophidians have a further reach then what a shotgun can ohk. like bruh.
my balanced approach is care about keeping my kd above 1.85, usually get teams who can’t see their screen so i don’t mind wins or losses. solo trials is fun and i’ve been able to go flawless every week since lightfall so i’m cheeeeeellin
No one wants to play pvp with me cause they hate pc lobbies..so I have to suffer playing against sweats with meta alone, my biggest complaint being how I constantly die to unfair stuff..e.g. any meta weapon in the hands of a laggy player, ability spam or my favourite getting solo supered 5 times in a row…also it’s gotten to the point where every game I get shafted by rng and never have fun cause it never gives me a fair or fun match
Man from the beginning of destiny 2 on pc until forsaken I was in my clan with 10 friends and all of us were 2.5 kd
After shadowkeep and the rise of cheaters all of us stopped playing
I was returning every now and then and it was never the same

The sweaty players need to learn 2 things. 1 have fun. 2 the meta will always revert back to hand cannons ALWAYS. When we do finally get a new meta take a break and enjoy using something different. Learn new skills. Stop crying about it on twitter.
We need an after effects tutorial. This all looks relatively simple but what do I even look up to get this effect? "Floating liquid blobs" "wavy waves with splitting points" etc.
I get that having fun is important but its just hard not try and focus on winning especially in things like trials because I dont have the time to play a couple hundred matches and finally go flawless I have things I have to do i have to work and stuff like that do i only have like a few hours to try and go flawless sometimes and when i dont go flawless it doesnt matter if I had fun or not it just sucks because I just wasted that much time for zero pay out
You cant have fun in this bad game the match makinh terrible the map like disjuntion are the worst ive ever played and the nerf to in air accuracy now so youre scared to jump the game is actually terrible ive played since d1 im deleting it i actually hate this game
Just play OW2 guys. Maybe Bungie will fix the game if we all stop playing.
Unfortunately we can't try new things and not care about pvp anymore because they put sbmm in control. If I want to win/not let my team down I literally have to use the meta bs everyone else is using.
I could related with you when you asked for hynra's groll heritage, getting hip fire grip is pretty difficult on it 😂
really tough to have fun when you get dumpstered every match, regardless of external factors. it feels like no matter how hard i try i can never improve.
I’m here for the friends and the funny loadouts so I suggest private matches for that

Love this vid. I run a channel too, and have been trying to wrap my brain around this. This season has felt exceptionally more chaotic then the last leading to me having very poor games in general. I tend to be that kind of player that plays at “base form” shall I say lol, not relying on cheap strategies and instant damage buffs, etc (ex: solar hunters you know who you are lol) and I feel like I’m losing my mind most the time, making it very hard to stick with it. I’ve been deciding that maybe it’s time I let go, and accept pvp for what it is, and embrace the “dark side” so to speak lol. And I think I’ll be more happier with the game in the end.
It’s felt like a losing battle to me too for a while. The game is headed in a different direction than what I want, and I ain’t gonna try to fight it so much anymore

We can talk all day about the potential that lays there, and fantasize about that version in our heads but that doesn’t change what we have now, and only hurts us in the long run. We either embrace it, or go mad waiting. If we here for the ride we might as well take it easy and enjoy it for what it is 🙏🏾

My friends and I honestly quit destiny for mental health and wallet reasons. IMHO a game with as many problems as destiny has that go unfixed for as long as they do, while they introduce new broken mechanics to paying customers utilizing modern addiction models for game design simply puts it into the 'not a good game' category for me. I've worked on many games and I understand how bugs can be introduced and stay in games, but destiny is something else entirely. A game that induces content creators unsolicited to talk about how to have fun playing it (not a knock on the video at all, just that there is a "how to have fun" genre of destiny youtube videos for advanced players, not newbies), shows me that the community is not healthy (not talking about player count here) and the game is not good, ask yourself have you ever seen that for any other good game you've played before?
You can play the game for under 30 minutes and recognize the players in the game on average are toxic who will dunk and bag on newbies that literally have gray and green weapons and armor while they're maxed out zealots...that's like LeBron James power driving on a 5 year old, shit talking after they're on the ground with a concussion and a broken elbow, sticking his nuts in their face and telling them to 'get gud' on his way to the defensive end of the court...even if your clan has super cool people in it which mine did and play with friends which I always did. Comment on a youtube video or say the wrong thing on twitter and you'll learn instantly how toxic the community can be.
Side note: The thing about community feedback in gaming is a vast majority of people that do give feedback are going to be frustrated players because if a game was actually really good, you'd just enjoy playing the game, not go out of your way to 'at' developers to give them the laundry list of broken stuff they already know is wrong but refuse to fix for one reason or another, then call you or insinuate you're toxic for being frustrated that their broken xyz build or weapon or skill isn't fixed and it's been a 2 years, and they still don't listen to your feedback because it came from a frustrated player and ask you to reformat it so its more constructive. Most game developers don't have twitter handles for their staff for these reasons and because of NDAs.

Ive been taking this very serious since a few seasons. Even tho im still a lil invested in my kd, i can have SO much more fun in the game. I just use what is fun for me and makes me smile. I never play anything else than smgs, even tho they r meta now i halways have been. So this last week i used cloudstrike and i fucking in love. It feels 2 good to get then crispy loghtning storms. And it feels even better when you accept that you cant get them every second, u gotta work for em. Sometimes i get clapped hard, but that one shot that gave me 4 kills still makes me happy.

my go to "im getting to mad at video games and need to calm down" build is just. getting botheration (the blue shotgun) out of collections, queuing in, and just not sprinting the whole game. people dont know how to react they flip out. and then Ya Just Bother On 'Em. botheration itself honestly isnt half bad either, it has autoloading and the same frame as felwinters.

on EU I get bad connection like once every couple of weeks and it's never as bad as in these clips, and on Asia I don't even remember when I had a laggy game
last time I played the game was consistently matching Asian players against US West.
