Just got a free 62 3hp Johnson today. Worked fine 9 years ago, sat in garage ever since. Really nice shape, pain logo, pull rope. Doing a rebuild like this would ease my mind to know that everything is fresh. Great series.!!
Hello Leo, having hard time getting that lower cowl out of my way to diassemble gas tank and clean with the mineral spirits and srews and nuts. You started series with cowl already removed.
I took the steering handle off which splits the lower cowl down the center, then removed all 4 bolts off the lower cowl and then was able to pull it off.
@@lgallant Thank you Leo for helping me get motor running. Got to take grandson fishing, he caught his first large mouth Bass. God Bless You and Yours, All the Best, MPO'
i have a 63 3hp lightwin evinrude and the gas cap vent on mine opens to a point and stops.. so it wont fall off, i found out one day wondering the same thing.. trying to silence the rattle and not close the vent
About your question if there is a retainer on the fuel vent. There is a retainer. Mine has it. I can take a picture to show it to you if I know where to send it.
