The variety of headstones, statues, cenotaphs, and mausoleums is incredible.

Excellent tour of Pere Lachaise, though I'm amiss as to why you call it “
Pierre Lashay. Pierre is French for Peter, but this is Pere ( pronounced as Pear) meaning Father
His surname is pronounced as La- shezz

I was there in 2005. It was the highlight of my trip. The fence was not there. There was a musician there at the same time I was and he was singing Jim's songs. He not only resembled him, but his voice was eerily similar. It gave me the chills to listen while taking in the peaceful ambiance around me. I will never forget that day.

I beleive they had to fence it off because of all the "indecent" items they were finding left on the grave, along with beer bottles/cans.
I would love to tour that place one day too, but I would have to do it solo. My family would think I'm nuts and rather see other sights if we ever went there.
    RIP Jim 🌹

Very cool. I always wanted to see the old graves with the bells but I never wanted to hear one ring! 😮

What a beautiful place! And I chose to think of Jim slipping out of his identity and living quietly in the countryside!

Oh Dav, this is one of your greatest videos. I don't know why i never went to see that amazing cemetery, i visited Paris a couple of times in the early 2000s, had a girlfriend there and i LOVED that city and even walked by the cemetery a few times on my strolls through the area where she stayed.
I don't know too much about Morrison. i was never a fan of the doors, just did not click for me. I was a full on Syd Barrett & Pink Floyd kind of guy in those formative years. Another thing probably would be my lack of knowledge of the English language, as i am from Vienna, Austria and therefor never really would have gotten into his poetry that you so favourably speak of. I tried reading several books in English but it just isn't the same for me as reading in German unfortunately. Of course i get normal everyday writing like news and articles but once it gets into poetry, it is a different animal all together.
Anyway, your theory of him faking his death is incredibly thought provoking and interesting, i never knew anything about it, except for that one concert incident where he exposed his ˘U˘ and they wanted him real bad for that one, haha.
Thank you for taking me along through those biutiful aisles full of those gorgeous mausoleums and graves, i am such a stoned loser for not going in there, seriously.....

Lived in Paris for three years - amazingly beautiful city in general but yeah Pere Lachaise is just so cool for a lot of reasons (being a Doors fan not withstanding)- generally cemeteries in Europe are amazing for Americans just because of the history - When I lived in the UK I'd just wander church cemeteries looking at the dates!

I visited my daughter who’s a MP in the Army in Germany and we visited this cemetery. We also went to the Catacombs. If you did, I’d love to see a video about that too. It was my first trip out of the USA and I loved it. Amsterdam is my favorite place by far. I absolutely loved it. Great video as always, Dāv!! #RattleOn

Highgate in London is supposed to be pretty cool to walk about. Saying that, recommend Arnos Vale in Bristol, UK.

Love this! I was fortunate enough to go when I was 17. Very many moons ago. He faked it. Mr. MOJO Rising. He talked about faking it. No Jim's not there. I was sad to see a fence.

I think Jim Morrison faked his death. He probably had help with the plot. The two accounts that I have read about his death were different enough for me to think, something's strange.

Just stop with all those words, like yes Jim is Buried there, and never moved. I come here 4 times at year, and know some people who knew Jim, while hé lived in Paris, and took some famous pictures, even the day before he past away. And yes foks, he's death, and is at Pere Lachaise

I'd have to do more research on the subject tbh. (Jim Morrison's death)
Dav, what's your opinion on Type O Negative or Pantera (specifically Dime)? Also when you come back to DFW sometime, if you're interested we have both Bonnie & Clyde in DFW. Oh in Waco there's also the Texas Rangers museum (not baseball team) where you can see their car. Over by the Trinity River on the other side of downtown you can find the old Bonnie & Clyde stomping grounds.

So cool! I’m the same way… I have no interest in seeing the Eiffel Tower or any other tourist traps in Paris. I’d love to visit France though….one day…😊

I have been to Paris several times and never even came close to the Eiffel Tower, there is just SO MUCH BEAUTY there to see, not that the area of the Eiffel Tower isn't but i think we are on the same page here....if you get a chance, go there, it is one of THEE most amazing cities in the world, no doubt what so ever!
Love from Vienna(which i wished wouldn't have been bombed to pieces in WWII, so there would be a little more beauty and mystery left here also)

The question I have always had was if he did fake his own death how has he remained unseen? He became even more popular after this incident that it seems it would be very difficult to remain unseen in life or his death later on. I wonder if taking his own life it would be hushed and a rushed "funeral" all speculation as you know but it is an interesting story either way.
