▸ Who Is Batman: Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics on March 30, 1939. In the DC Universe continuity, Batman is the alias of Bruce Wayne, a wealthy American playboy, philanthropist, and industrialist who resides in Gotham City. Batman's origin story features him swearing vengeance against criminals after witnessing the murder of his parents Thomas and Martha as a child, a vendetta tempered with the ideal of justice. He trains himself physically and intellectually, crafts a bat-inspired persona, and monitors the Gotham streets at night. Kane, Finger, and other creators accompanied Batman with supporting characters, including his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl; allies Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Catwoman; and foes such as the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, and his archenemy, the Joker.
Kane conceived Batman in early 1939 to capitalize on the popularity of DC's Superman; although Kane frequently claimed sole creation credit, Finger substantially developed the concept from a generic superhero into something more bat-like. The character received his own spin-off publication, Batman, in 1940. Batman was originally introduced as a ruthless vigilante who frequently killed or maimed criminals, but evolved into a character with a stringent moral code and strong sense of justice. Unlike most superheroes, Batman does not possess any superpowers, instead relying on his intellect, fighting skills, and wealth. The 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic, which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his darker roots in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with the 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.
DC has featured Batman in many comic books, including comics published under its imprints such as Vertigo and Black Label. The longest-running Batman comic, Detective Comics, is the longest-running comic book in the United States. Batman is frequently depicted alongside other DC superheroes, such as Superman and Wonder Woman, as a member of organizations such as the Justice League and the Outsiders. In addition to Bruce Wayne, other characters have taken on the Batman persona on different occasions, such as Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael in the 1993-1994 "Knightfall" story arc; Dick Grayson, the first Robin, from 2009 to 2011; and Jace Fox, son of Wayne's ally Lucius, as of 2021. DC has also published comics featuring alternate versions of Batman, including the incarnation seen in The Dark Knight Returns and its successors, the incarnation from the Flashpoint (2011) event, and numerous interpretations from Elseworlds stories.

Nice! I was wondering what the opposite was, apparently for the Drowned, Earth 11 is the gender swap Justice League, and for whichever earth the Dawnbreaker is from, the opposite of that is the one where Batman becomes a Green Lantern. Amazing stuff DC

I like how if a version of Superman gets corrupted that universe is threatened to be under his control, if a Batman gets corrupted then an entire spectrum of universes are threatened. Batman is truly no joke.

This might be my favorite out of all of them. The backstory is just so intense and you see Bruce at such a vulnerable point that he’s turned into this machine that really just doesn’t give a damn anymore.

I like this because we see how Alfred’s moral codes have always differed from Bruce’s, as well as the depth of his feelings and convictions towards Bruce and the lengths he would go to in order to protect him. It’s a horrifying vision of a father’s desperate love for his disturbed, traumatized son.

The only reasons I can see for Dr. Fate not interfering to save cyborg is because all of the alternate earth batmen were present or having to do with the fact that there is something special about the metal which makes up most of Cyborg's body.

I REALLY need to check this event out. It's nice to know that in 2017, there are still fantastic comic stories being released that rivals even those of yesteryear. I never imagined that DC would drop something so good and niche as a METAL event that twisted characters into evil version of themselves. It's like a fan boy's dream.
I've always been a big fan of both marvel and DC, but for me DC is better at the moment, great stories and great to see them doing something different!. Another great video!, keep up the good work👍!!!.

Next to the Batman Who Laughs and Dawnbreaker, Murder Machine is probably my favorite origin for Dark Nights Metal (plus the idea of an insane cyborg version of Batman is badass!).
Murder Machine & Dawnbreaker had the best origins. Batman Who Laughs had the most shocking when he shot the Batfamily but I love Murder Machine...shits nuts.
And think it would be neat to have like a little compilation book showing all of the different times and ways Alfred has affected people yeah I know a lot of it would be the bat-family but I'm sure others would show up too! He's a bit of a sung yet unsung hero.
Who do you guys think will be the easiest to defeat? I think it’s Red Death because he still has some humanity in the form of Barry’s consciousness in his mind.
NinetailPhoenix I feel Red Death and the drowned may be the most reasonable of the group, so far. We don’t really know the story for the merciless or Devastator.
It’s even cooler because it’s based on Michio Kaku’s String Theory

Kind of sad this one wasn't Bruce merging with Brother Eye. The entire idea of Murder Machine being the incarnate of Batman's suspicion of other heroes and Metas seems like it would have been much more interesting and an actual character flaw of his, than us kicking the puppy on Alfred to make his death a catalyst for a completely separate A.I. monster then fusing Bruce with it. The fear of loss is a flaw of his, but I think we could have done that one better.

I’m a HUGE green lantern fan and I was stoked for The Dawnbreaker. I was convinced that it was going to be my favorite tie in. Nope. The Murder Machine, IMO, is the best tie in so far. It’s truly incredible. The art and story are truly amazing.
