HindsightPOV okay, but fair warning to anyone else *SPOILER ALERT* I'm kinda rusty on the details since it's been a while, so if anyone spots a mistake, feel free to correct me: at that game, Batman kills the Joker indirectly, sort of, in the previous game... Okay lets go back to the 1st game first, Arkham Asylum, Joker is trucking Bane into giving him his Venom. Joker then uses it to make him this super buff version of himself and also making a lot of super goons with it. The thing is he kinda dabbles with the formula to make it his own, so after Batman defeated him, it leaves the Joker mortally ill. In the 2nd game, Arkham City, Joker works with Clayface into tricking Batman that he's okay, that he's recovered after their previous meeting. He planned this whole take over on Arkham that is now it's own island and basically the size of Manhattan (because making a whole town of crazy criminals is a good idea it seems) to hide the fact that he's dying. But before he died, he had scattered his blood to blood banks, tainted with his concoction of his and Bane's venom he got from previous game, long story short, they got into a fight, and it was revealed that the "healthy" looking Joker was Clayface and Joker is indeed sick and dying and he once again turned into gigantic venom infused Joker, which resulted in his death. At the 3rd game, the plot revolved around Scarecrow trying to take over Gotham by spreading his toxin all over the city, he's being helped by someone dressed as a military type Batman who seemed to have a grudge against Batman (Spoiler: it turns out to be Jason Todd) Because the Joker is dead, the main plot seemed to have no connection to the Joker, but then we see Batman have hallucinations of Joker, we first thought it was just his guilt for "killing" the Joker, but then we find out that Batman did not caught all of the Joker's tainted blood in the previous game, he missed a couple, resulting in 3 random people turning into the Joker, there was a 4th man who got it and he send Tim to find him, but it was a wild goose chase because Bruce was that 4th man. That's why he's seeing these Joker hallucinations, he was slowly turning into Joker. In the end Batman uses an overwhelming amount of Scarecrow's fear toxin onto himself to "scare away" the Joker inside him (well Scarecrow is the one injecting him, but he thought he was injecting it to make Batman died of fear, well you know it's all in Batman's plan) Well that's it I think, and I'm only focusing on the Joker plot, and not the whole game, because there's a lot of over arching plot in that game.
Ozz Lee i love how you even get to battle with slade in that game.i mean riddler joker all par for the course buy fighting the other dc bad guys was the best

See, this is why we can't have nice things. People will try to correct a correct statement. Yes, this version is what happens when both sides of the coin merge into one or when a yin yang is folded into itself as we know that black and white combined creates gray. The reason it's how you say is that the Batman Who Laughs can have an opposite where the Joker uses his tricks to defend Gotham. . .the Joker Who Detects? Lol The problem is that Batman would murder the Joker in that because evil placed into genius beats good placed into nonsense any day.
Fírix he didn't really. The presence had a plan for everything in DC. The best video on it I've seen is by the imaginary axis. Basically the presence has his own agenda and basically everything that happens was meant to. I mean Lucifer's rebellion from rebellion basically was planned lol
Okay, everyone is talking about how messed up the death of Superman and his family was, but can we talk about the murder of the Batfamily? I mean here is this man they fought with for the majority of their lives and see as a sort of father figure, and then he murders them?! And they see it coming. Jason even realizes it soon enough where he is able to pull out both of his guns. Also, judging just from the picture, it doesn't look like they all died instantaneously; meaning they had time to process tgat they were going to die and who was responsible for their deaths. For me, the death of the Batfamily was equally as shocking as the murder of the Kent family, if not more so.
There is no real difference though. The actual multiverse in DBS is where the second Zeno came from, the "Multiverse" Zeno is from is just a segmented Universe(think something like Battleworld).
I'm not really talking about the concept but more like how DC has hyped up the dark universe with infinitely possibilities and no real cap in strength as opposed to DBS which doesnt really explore all that much

Because it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. Consider: The Owlman is an inverted Batman, but not literally Backwards Batman. He isn't Batzarro. Only some aspects of Owlman are the opposite of Batman's at any given time, and even then the result is more likely to be corrupt/twisted than straight-up backwards. Basically, Batzarro is a Zen Idiot who is slick without even knowing it. His Inner Dialogue literally is his Outer Dialogue. Owlman is an aspiring Mafia Boss. So not the Apex Predator of crime fighters, so much as he is the ultimate Wise Guy, or inside man. He's the guy who makes it work. He knows all of the cheats and who to blackmail at any given time. So not how to stop injustice, but how to USE injustice. TBWL? He's entirely different. He's a form of Batman from an unstable parallel Earth that existed ONLY to create a Batman with the Joker's "moral center". This Batman's entire world conspired to, and existed to make damned sure he would become as depraved as his worst enemy, all while keeping most of his intellect and resources. Batman's money, skills and weaponry meets the Joker's impulse to depravity and anarchy. Owlman could be this evil, but it would look very different. The children would die first, then the dogs and cats, all in the most gruesome ways possible. Then the water and electricity would go out, followed by any and all radio or cell tower broadcasts. And nobody would know who was doing it really. There would be no proof--or the proof would point to someone else instead. And in a weekend, tops, the surviving adults would be out to murder each other out of paranoia and suspicion.
Thanks for the compliment. I'm not sure I've earned it--I'm not half the fan of comic books I used to be. I collected them once. : ) That last paragraph about Owlman was me riffing on a _Twilight Zone_ concept to be candid. But it really speaks to me of that character: in both Grant Morrison's Syndicate and the _Forever Evil_ one, to an extent, Owlman was always the lateral thinker, either asking "How can I use this?" or "Who do I use to get results?" He's way less direct and linear a thinker than Batman is (seeing as how Bruce sees Deductive Logic, and Evidence, as the be-all-end-alls). Bruce solves crimes, Thomas Jr. picks victims. In some ways the version of him in _Crisis on Two Earths_ (the animated feature) was an aberration. That nihilist Owlman was way too direct. **lol** It was out of necessity--there's no insidious, corrupt way to build a planet-buster nuke and use it--but still. : ) In some critical ways--laughing, using guns, mocking the Robins--The Batman Who Laughs follows Bizarro Logic almost as much as Batzarro does, being literally reversed for its own sake (using the tool of crime, not being serious, being a creep to young orphaned boys).
And I thought Dawnbreaker batman was messed up. Personally, my FAVORITE little part of this is the linguistic tie in. It's directly reminiscent of The Man Who Laughs, The BatMan Who Laughs. If i remember right, the actual image of the joker, the persona, was based on the man who laughs.
WTF This came out TODAY! How did you even...? This comic isn't even uploaded to the website I use yet. I'm like "Oh, if Rob's got a video about it already it's gotta be uploaded by now, right? Wrong."
BTW Rob "The Killing Joke" isn't an elseworld, and it didn't end ambiguously it's in the main continuity. It's where Barbara Gordon get's paralyzed and Joker is still alive after that. The idea of it being an elseworld is a widely believed myth, however if you want to read it as a one shot and take whatever out of it you feel, that's up to you the reader has final interpretation.
I was just browsing through youtube and saw this on a couple other videos. Clicked on one and heard someone who wasn't you. Said to myself "nah man. Gotta be Rob." the "lemme tell you something man"s get my hyped!
Joker as a yellow lantern !!!!! Scream in fear for I am here Laugh in pain that I brought here This ring shines bright...turn it off!(lantern oath) Wanna see this story come true
I feel like at the end of all this, our earth 0 Batman will tell our earth 0 Superman something along the lines of "Hey if I ever laugh, kill me... You should know at that moment that something's off."
Wodinn Joker has trapped superman before and batman is more than prepared for superman (he literally states that he has a thousand ways to kill him). Even if he wanted to do something he couldn't cause joker was obviously filled with krytonite weaponry.
Before I start,I'm new to your channel but it has been a must watch these past few days. My dad and I have been collecting comics for years and have amassed a very decent collection. We got lucky and found a 1st print of this comic with the metal cover in a small shop in Wilson,NC. I NEVER read it-its still sealed but I saw the plot on another channel. This version of Batman next to the Red Death and the Dawnbreaker are my absolute favorites.
This was the perfect cherry on the cake for the best birthday Ive ever had. Been following you since 2015, you've smashed it Rob and educated me along the way. Respect brother 👊🏽
Rob begins his videos with: "MANNNN dude this story so good!" Rob ends his videos with: "Andddd I'll catch you guys later... Peace!" Since I know this by heart, Does this mean I've became a fan?
Possibly. The upcoming Hawkman Lost cover shows Hawkman in full gear in the Dark Multiverse. But if that comic takes place before this one, I think it's a solid guess.
The fact that red hood was able to pull out both pistols at the time of his death (plus he shot a bullet) tells me he knew what was going to happen but was way to scared to pull the trigger.
I have not drawn anything in a long time. My work is killing every piece of creativity I ever had in me. But holy shit, I am going to draw this Batman like crazy! Well done DC. Well fucking done.
I think that Joker needs Batman, and Batman needs Joker, because in a way, Joker is like someone who keeps Batman in check, if Batman became a bad guy, or if he went rogue.
I hate to disagree with you but I feel like the Joker was always this dark. after the Tim Burton Batman movie, the joker (along with the rest of the Batman Universe) got more dark and sinister. I'll agree that after the New 52 reboot series he matches with the 30s style Joker more but closely but the Joker was always relatively dark before that happened.
When Rob says and i quote "Man let me tell you something" it get me laughing every time and also that's when you know the story he's going to tell it's going to be good.
If Batman had killed Joker at the end of The Killing Joke then he did so right in front of the police because in the last three panels where they are laughing at the joke you can see the lights and "hear" the sirens of the police arriving.
I really really really want a cinematic version of this. I know the movie will never happen but could you imagine what the movie would be like aside from crazy as hell. Man I hope it happens.
Joker actually got pretty dark in the 80’s and 90’s. Also we cannot forget how Neal Adams and Dennis O’Neal brought back the sadistic/comedic Joker that we know and love.
No one seems to focus on the fact that the things that drove every other Dark Night evil are the things that this one willingly does. I think that may be a reason why the rest turn on him

At the 3rd game, the plot revolved around Scarecrow trying to take over Gotham by spreading his toxin all over the city, he's being helped by someone dressed as a military type Batman who seemed to have a grudge against Batman (Spoiler: it turns out to be Jason Todd)
Because the Joker is dead, the main plot seemed to have no connection to the Joker, but then we see Batman have hallucinations of Joker, we first thought it was just his guilt for "killing" the Joker, but then we find out that Batman did not caught all of the Joker's tainted blood in the previous game, he missed a couple, resulting in 3 random people turning into the Joker, there was a 4th man who got it and he send Tim to find him, but it was a wild goose chase because Bruce was that 4th man. That's why he's seeing these Joker hallucinations, he was slowly turning into Joker. In the end Batman uses an overwhelming amount of Scarecrow's fear toxin onto himself to "scare away" the Joker inside him (well Scarecrow is the one injecting him, but he thought he was injecting it to make Batman died of fear, well you know it's all in Batman's plan)
Well that's it I think, and I'm only focusing on the Joker plot, and not the whole game, because there's a lot of over arching plot in that game.
Ozz Lee i love how you even get to battle with slade in that game.i mean riddler joker all par for the course buy fighting the other dc bad guys was the best
that moment you sign up for twitter only so you can see when this video will go up and 10 minutes later its up... thats why i love this channel
austin lipski hell yeah
And people say Injustice superman is bad lol. He is tame compared to this.
I just realised there's a f***ing nightmare version of Doctor Fate next to Parasite Superman. Doctor fricking Fate turned into a hellish version of himself.

Lived up and EXCEEDED the hype. The Batman Who Laughs above all.
Also, a Batman Who Laughs, is a Batman who ALWAYS wins.
Randy Peace gu
Vet
So the Batman Who Laughs is the edge of that coin that is Batman and Joker
ChocoboKid No he is the coin
Not the edge, cause this is still evil like the joker without any of Batmans heroic traits. The is more like the coin is insideout.
ChocoboKid
The Edge isn't heads or tails, it's nothing.
He's all edgy
See, this is why we can't have nice things. People will try to correct a correct statement. Yes, this version is what happens when both sides of the coin merge into one or when a yin yang is folded into itself as we know that black and white combined creates gray. The reason it's how you say is that the Batman Who Laughs can have an opposite where the Joker uses his tricks to defend Gotham. . .the Joker Who Detects? Lol The problem is that Batman would murder the Joker in that because evil placed into genius beats good placed into nonsense any day.
Jason Todd has the second best bat glare
I think that masked men is Alfred from earth -22
With the intelligence and readiness of Batman combined with the Chaotic and insane nature of the joker. I can’t think of anything more terrifying
The moment i heard Rob say "Let me tell you something." i knew shit got real
hey Rob , can you please explain how constantine tricked the presence?
Fírix he didn't really. The presence had a plan for everything in DC. The best video on it I've seen is by the imaginary axis. Basically the presence has his own agenda and basically everything that happens was meant to. I mean Lucifer's rebellion from rebellion basically was planned lol
@7:48, this is when things to from 0 too 9001!
ITS OVER 9000
Okay, everyone is talking about how messed up the death of Superman and his family was, but can we talk about the murder of the Batfamily? I mean here is this man they fought with for the majority of their lives and see as a sort of father figure, and then he murders them?! And they see it coming. Jason even realizes it soon enough where he is able to pull out both of his guns. Also, judging just from the picture, it doesn't look like they all died instantaneously; meaning they had time to process tgat they were going to die and who was responsible for their deaths. For me, the death of the Batfamily was equally as shocking as the murder of the Kent family, if not more so.
By the old god's and the new....this was fucked up
I know right? How can batman rip off judge dreads look and not get sued?
See... Dragon Ball Super is great and all but this... THIS is how you do a multiverse!
Best thing comin' outta DC Rebirth
There is no real difference though. The actual multiverse in DBS is where the second Zeno came from, the "Multiverse" Zeno is from is just a segmented Universe(think something like Battleworld).
I'm not really talking about the concept but more like how DC has hyped up the dark universe with infinitely possibilities and no real cap in strength as opposed to DBS which doesnt really explore all that much
check out dragon ball multiverse
Err comparing Dragon Ball with DC comics is like comparing a candy bar with mac and cheese.
SakuraiKunLikes
Fair enough, i just wish DB in general had better writing
Man, dude, man, maaan, dude!

The man The Bat who laughs is talking to is Nightmaster!!!
God helps us all the day Batman becomes evil in any form (especially Joker-Batman) .
cutejay012 no god will not be of any help if batman turns evil for he will be bested by captain marvel, the flash, plastic man, dr fate, deadman, adam strange, the doom patrol, the atom, the Spectre, and all the other reasons this origin shouldn’t work if you think about it.
Zettabeam62 Batman evil > all
Zettabeam62 Well That didn’t work since The Batman Who Laughs killed everyone in his universe 😂
@@changvasejarik62 Yeah but this is the Dark Multiverse though, where everything that could possibly go wrong does just that, no matter how inconcievable or unbelievable it may be.
He literally just did in this comic
to see superman jon and lois die like that was really depressing and made me cry :(
Truth agreed it was fucked up :(
Yeah that was too much for me. I still feel sick from reading it the first time
Tevya Smolka Atleast we can confirm both Jon and Clarke "BLEED"

Here's a theory for you: The World of Injustice, is actually part of the Dark Universe. It just hasn't gotten as bad as the ones we have seen so far.
silentpaw that's pretty cool
silentpaw no supes turn evil not bats and they universe is probably connected to the normal mutilverse we see at the injustice 1 a different supes defeat injustice supes
Yeah... The Dark Multiverse isn't all just Evil Batmen. Cause in Justice League #33 we see a glimpse of the rest of the forces of Barbatos. Parasite Superman, Zombie Green Lantern, Cheetah Wonder Woman, ETC.
Malcom Alexander didn't he create them?
No, the Injustice universe is in the regular multiverse. They were visited by the Justice League of the normal universe too.
But they could retcon it
He solo'd damn near the whole dc universe just for the hell of it and he has an army of hellish beings . How do you stop 7 Batmens who each single handedly bodied the justice league and everyone?
ishmael mitchell you eat them?
Get the regular Batman
Ishmael Mitchell get the Avengers and Thanos
Love the character design of The Batman Who Laughs!
I love this issue so much it is the best tie-in and it’s dark AF and I like it 😁 also love the art style and the writing

i kinda like that the dude with the red head is, seemingly, already reaching for his gun.
Honestly I’ve been searching for a channel like this for years, you do what I’ve been looking for, get a comic not everyone has the opportunity to read and explain the whole thing (with background info added) I’d love to see whatever parts come after this and have you break it down for us.... amazing work man you just gained an active, loyal subscriber🤗😄
Great video Rob!! This is Beastmode!!
Yes omg I just got it, it's amazing
th-cam.com/video/SuZEpq4cQ6w/w-d-xo.html
I just finished reading it and honestly it's so twisted but really interesting to see someone like Bats go so dark.
omg It be scary stuff to see the Batman who kills evil side
This is the coolest Evil Batman ever no contest he's the one.
Murkle Ers ok but.. Can't have one without the other? So who is he telling this to? Can't be just some random guy....
And he kinda looks Iike a teenager
If Joker Batman can do this, why can't Earth-3 version of Batman (Owlman) can be this evil?
No wonder he came from the Shadow of the Multiverse
BPoe07 I see you have a PHD in metaphysical comic book characters personalities. Very well phrased.
Thanks for the compliment. I'm not sure I've earned it--I'm not half the fan of comic books I used to be. I collected them once. : )
That last paragraph about Owlman was me riffing on a _Twilight Zone_ concept to be candid.
In some critical ways--laughing, using guns, mocking the Robins--The Batman Who Laughs follows Bizarro Logic almost as much as Batzarro does, being literally reversed for its own sake (using the tool of crime, not being serious, being a creep to young orphaned boys).
BPoe07 I find your comparison of TBWL with Batzarro on point, plus TBWL is also has an eyeless cowl like Batzarro lol
He looks like a mixture not only of Batman and Joker , but with a splash of Clive Barker horror. Good video.
Man lemme tell ya somethin dude. Video just started and I'm 10000% hype already.
My master, Sauron the Great, bids thee welcome.
WTF This came out TODAY! How did you even...? This comic isn't even uploaded to the website I use yet. I'm like "Oh, if Rob's got a video about it already it's gotta be uploaded by now, right? Wrong."
Magneto go to readcomics.io
Comics Explained is he first Channel I ever subscribed to, thank you Rob.
DC has been putting out pure gold in terms of comics lately. It feels like we're in the Golden Age of comic books.
I want Kevin Conroy to come back and voice The Batman Who Laughs
Oh man i'd love to hear his take on that character
Dang that was a pretty dang good origin
This is so badass it needs a seperate run.. Seeing batman stories with this batman would be awesome.
Joker as a yellow lantern !!!!!
Scream in fear for I am here
Laugh in pain that I brought here
This ring shines bright...turn it off!(lantern oath)
Wanna see this story come true
When the batman who laugh say " i shoud'v picked the batman merged with lex........"
TheDesknight JL #33
That was funny. And we don’t know if that was a joke or if it actually was true
As Much As I Love Batman Supes Should've Broke His Neck When He Laughed
Dude, it's like he don't even know him
I feel like at the end of all this, our earth 0 Batman will tell our earth 0 Superman something along the lines of "Hey if I ever laugh, kill me... You should know at that moment that something's off."
Yeah, good call. Exactly, 'that's all i needed to hear bruce.' How did superman not SMELL the toxin on bruce in the first place? give me a break.
Wodinn Joker has trapped superman before and batman is more than prepared for superman (he literally states that he has a thousand ways to kill him). Even if he wanted to do something he couldn't cause joker was obviously filled with krytonite weaponry.
to be fair there was a version of batman that failed in most of those ways and had to resort to turning into doomsday.
Rob begins his videos with: "MANNNN dude this story so good!"
Rob ends his videos with: "Andddd I'll catch you guys later... Peace!"
Since I know this by heart, Does this mean I've became a fan?
I bet the guy the batman who laughs is talking to is Hawkman
Possibly. The upcoming Hawkman Lost cover shows Hawkman in full gear in the Dark Multiverse. But if that comic takes place before this one, I think it's a solid guess.
Killing him will only incapacitate him for 20 years or so.
What if he's talking to the sandman?
Nope...Hawkman at 8:09 in the window.
+japango1
That's somewhere in the past and his original universe
Somehow im left to assume that earth -3 has good superheroes, Batman should go there i guess
Absolutely NoOne o my gooooooooooosssshhhhh
The intro to this video is everything I needed today
Tell that to the 50’s Joker.
no he is just dark now because of edgy people
When Rob says and i quote "Man let me tell you something" it get me laughing every time and also that's when you know the story he's going to tell it's going to be good.
There are so many layers to this, so good
While everyone is reviewing the JL movie, Rob is out doing God's work bringing us this orgin story.
FINALLY!!!
If Batman had killed Joker at the end of The Killing Joke then he did so right in front of the police because in the last three panels where they are laughing at the joke you can see the lights and "hear" the sirens of the police arriving.
When he opens with "Mannnnn.... Lemme tell you something dude.... Mannnnn. Dude." you know it's on lol.
I fracking love the constant man dude man’s of excitement
I really really really want a cinematic version of this. I know the movie will never happen but could you imagine what the movie would be like aside from crazy as hell. Man I hope it happens.
I am glad it didn't go with just, batman kills the joker and he goes insane, but I feel they could've dealt with the bat family better
The Wah i think daiman live cuz dark one was in a tie in less he took that one from another earth
The Wah I actually would've kinda liked that just to show haters why he refuses to kill
But that’s what happened
He looks so much like Judge Death
I LITERALLY cheered out loud when i saw you uploaded this
Joker actually got pretty dark in the 80’s and 90’s. Also we cannot forget how Neal Adams and Dennis O’Neal brought back the sadistic/comedic Joker that we know and love.
*Joker Needs A Ring*
*A Yellow Ring*
No. A black lantern ring
No one seems to focus on the fact that the things that drove every other Dark Night evil are the things that this one willingly does. I think that may be a reason why the rest turn on him
Things we'll never get a dc animated series for :(
Hell Yeah BILL FINGER ! Glad you gave credit to him!
I just love how I forget the he is Batman to and not just joker. The things he does is just... Diabolical
