Yep. Engineering is so good today. Shorter the brace height. The more kick ass on the arrow it had to absorb. Which makes things more critical as far as accuracy. So. If Levi has a 31 inch draw and a 7 inch brace height he has a 24" power stroke. Now if you have a 5" brace height and a 31" draw. That's an extra 2" of force on the arrow. Yep that's the way it is. Love to see an arrow fly. Good job Levy. 🤓🤓🤓

excellent just what i was looking for in the brace height discussion, i also have a 31inch draw, short body long arms, ( cant help being a freak) but accuracy was suffering due to people telling me that the brace height must be correct otherwise the bow will snap,

In relation to the theory of “string time” being the longer your arrow is on after the shot but before it leaves the string; does that mean that faster bows are more forgiving than slower bows with the same brace height?

Also do you measure from the front of burger hole or in the middle or from the back of the hole? Do you measure to the inside of the string or in the middle of the string or the outside of the string? I think all of these are good questions with a desire for detail?

I thought brace height is the measurement from the deepest part of the bows grip to the inside of the string? Now your saying from the burger hole to the string so which is the correct way to measure it? Any helpful and respectful comments appreciated!

I would love to see your , archery opa. Used to promote what 3d targets where intended for. The archery hunters getting higher payouts then the target bow archers. Or a whole new organization for that!

I think maybe your point got lost a little towards the end Levi. I'm not fortunate enough to have a long draw but the point your trying to make is the greater the stroke of the bow the harder it is to control. however the longer the stroke typically the more powerful the bow is and can send a arrow at higher speeds. I just bought my wife the new Mathews Stoke because she is only a 25" DL the 5 5/8 BH on the bow gives her about a 19 1/2" stroke. this is much longer stroke than any other bow offers a small frame shooters. I can very much see how a 29-31" draw would benefit from a bow like the Z9 made a few years back with the longer BH. I find it odd that a lot of speed bows with short BH are not made to fit the shooters that they will benefit the most. 24-27" draw. -Thank you for all you do.

    Actually brace height is from
    Throat of grip to string

Levi, which brace hight would you advise for a 29,5 Inch draw lenght

That was a contradiction if I’ve ever heard one. If a longer DL is less forgiving then why would a longer BH not be more forgiving therefore shortening your effective draw?

The shorter the distance between the grip and the string, the greater the amount of time the arrow stays in contact with the string.
So if the hieght is larger, the arrow leaves the string sooner (at the starting point of the string) thus release becomes easier.
If you hunt the speed is a more important and you have to make the height smaller. This will result in the arrow staying longer on the string and giving more force over it's distance. This will result in higher speeds, but it's harder to control.
This also applies to draw length. If you pull the arrow further back, it increases the travel distance to the brace height (starting point). It's about the distance between your hand and the brace height (starting point) and not between the brace height and the riser. It's an easy misstake to make since you measure it from the riser.
This should answer your question. You probably figured it out by now, but it might answer someone elses question.

Of course one of the best shooters would say brace height doesnt matter. for mere mortals with less than perfect form brace height will matter more

At 5'5 you should be closer to 26-26.5" draw. Unless you have ape arms

That's it? That's not busting a myth. That's just a discussion and your opinion about brace height. Brace height is relative to each shooter. It's not a tall vs short people debate. It should be a discussion about brace height accuracy and forgiveness as it pertains to each shooter. Side by side comparisons.

And I don't even want to try to control a 3" braceing height. Even I wasn't that good.😁😁😁😁

Actually someone with a 27" draw with a 3" brace height would give them the same 24" power stroke as you have.

there is no myth. rather a lack of knowledge,The brace height means nothing without release aid and arrow ,even the d loop can be a factor

Levi. For a Olympic champion. You don't have 100% a clue what you really are talking. I'm supposed to shoot 27 inch draw. I custom myself to shoot 28 inch draw length. I've gained more speed on the bows and the accuracy doesn't really change. You just need to adapt to the longest draw length you can shoot. I've been successful with my custom set up eversince. Brace height. I'd shoot the shortest brace I can shoot. Now I'm shooting the TX5. I love it.
