- This is a product or gear review on the First Need XL and XLE water purification system made by General Ecology. I do not review products or gear I don't use. I have used this water filtration system for years, it has many miles on it, and hundreds of gallons through it. The First Need XL and XLE is perfect for survival, bushcraft, camping, kayaking, sup, canoeing, climbing, and emergency uses. It is light, durable, and efficient. This is not a paid endorsement and General Ecology does not sponsor me.
Here are the technical specs provided by the manufacturer:
Flow Rate: 2 qpm
Avg. Cartridge Capacity*: 180 gal. (XL system had avg of 150 gallons)
Particle Retention Rating:0.4 micron
Dimension: 6.25 in. length
Working Temperature:33° - 100°F (0.5° - 38°C)
The retail price is around $120-130USD

Not a bad review Mr. Phillips for a fantastic product. Maybe show them how to backflush it in another vid.
Thank you and I may have to do that soon!
