Suzuki Carry Mini Truck - transmission oil change

  • I've NEVER checked or changed the transmission oil on my 1995 Suzuki Carry mini truck and I'm glad I finally did! It was pretty gross looking. I made sure to get the proper GL-4 oil. I ordered 3 quarts, but didn't need all of it. I have a feeling that this video will apply to a few different mini trucks out there, they all use a pretty similar transmission setup. Any questions, please ask. There are links below of the stuff I used. Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing!

    Theres also a check plug on the Right side of the transmission, its a pain to remove but its there as a overflow/ vent when you are filling the transmission back up with fluid

    Thanks, i saw a forum post how to do this, and they showed the fill plug on the other size, and mine had an aluminum plug that cannot be removed, like a freeze plug, but i see the drain plug, i have to check this out on mine

      Yeah man, check it out for sure! I bet you'll find the fill plug! I'm so glad I did this! I didn't want to spend that kind of cash on GL4, but I'm happy to know that I have the right oil in my trans! Thanks again for watching!

      Yes it should, the Japanese don't change much, I bet they use the same style transmission case for years. Just make sure when you fill it, some oil starts to drip. I'm sure you'll be fine! Enjoy your mini truck and thank you for watching!

      @@BarnStangz well at the moment I'm really struggling to get the fill plug off so it's not going anywhere😥 I think it was overtighten and the square bit has been worn. I'm going to try and get it up on some higher ramps and have better go at it. So frustrating 😞 i have ordered a 10mm square drive bar as well. I'm thinking 3/8ths is a shade under and I would hazard a guess they used metric? But I have seen everyone have success with 3/8ths so I'll just keep trying.

    • @BarnStangz
      @BarnStangz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mickmcish Oh man, that's frustrating for sure. I don't know if you could hit it with some good penetrating oil, like Kroil and let it sit. That usually works for me. Or I'll hit it was some heat, like Mapp Gas. But yeah man, keep at it for sure! Good luck and keep me posted!

    Howdy. Appreciate your knowledge.... have a 1991 Suzuki DD51B 4WD. I can not get a definitive answer to the fluid capacities. Trans/Transfer and 2 differentials. As it currently is on jack stands with no wheels I don't want to rely on overflow as a guide as it isn't dead level. Would you know a source? Thanks in advance either way

    • @BarnStangz
      @BarnStangz  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching, I appreciate it greatly. I don't have any source, but you might want to try some of the Facebook mini truck groups, I'm sure there is someone on there that could give you 100% accurate fluid levels. Having said that, if things are close to being level, just fill it and send it, I'm sure it'll be fine. It would be one thing if you think you were going to overfill it by, say, 30%... OR you could always fill now and then once your back on level ground, crawl under and open up the fill plugs to see how much comes out. Make sure you do that when it's cold of course. Good luck my friend.

      @@dogger99 Yeah man, I forget what I paid, but it was a lot. It made a HUGE difference in the way the machine shifts, so I recommend it for sure. Plus, it'll last a long time, at least 10 years, depending on how much you drive and all that.

    • @BarnStangz

      3 L is way more than enough, did you check their website? I had to order it directly from Amsoil.

  • @AwesomeCarrilloClan

    Maybe it's metric instead of standard 3/8"s?

    • @BarnStangz
      @BarnStangz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the plugs, the 3/8" fit good, it was nice and square, just not deep enough. I feel like it would be better to change it to a hex bolt for sure. Thank you for watching!
