Ahmad Haikal I like him for a slightly different reason. While I agree that his willingness to dirty his hands is satisfying to watch, it's also because we know he values ethics that makes this okay. He knows and acknowledges the fact that he's not a hero because he's sinned more than anyone else that he knows.
At 1:54 you can see Kuroko looking down at the injured man before running onto the road. She is trying to make sure he doesn't get burned. She could have teleport right there and it would have been safer for her, but the guy behind her may get hit if the guy startle and throw fire at that direction. She as a law enforcer has to care for others even though he is a criminal and even if that means putting her life in danger.
Seeing this, I noticed something I missed when I saw it in the whole episode: Kuroko wolfing down her ice cream so that it won't go to waste as she switches to crime-fighting mode;)
Consider that in the manga version of this, Ruiko isn't even present, and Mikoto enters the battle because one of the robbers ran past her, knocking her crepe out of her hands and over her shirt, offering a very different impression of Mikoto's priorities. The anime provides a far better and more Mikoto-like motivation. :) It also foreshadows Ruiko's importance as a character.
I have watched this one scene over and over so many times it is embarassing;) But it has all together so many of the elements that make to aru kagaku no railgun even more interesting than the series that inspired it!
Mikoto would have easily caught the robber, or stopped the vehicle from moving if the car started going in the opposite direction. Although, I don’t think her railgun wouldn’t have reach it. The distance her railgun travels is dependent on the size of the object she is using as a projectile. The coin itself doesn’t actually go that far.
It might actually have worked, we know that the railgun is fast, but it has a finite distance. That means if he got far enough away he could run, assuming Mikoto and Kuroko didn't team up and use Kuroko's teleporting to chase him.
Imagine having this power secretly and using to have fun(in a good way) and then someone on your friends found out about it...... Its an interesting story isn't it?
So, they can put a funny face on that guy at the end all they want and give him some groans but if you are trying to tell me, to CONVINCE ME, that that shit didn't straight kill him. That his whole funny face shit isn't a hallucination and he's dead as hell, you are outta your mind. Noooo way.
It always bothered me that the animators decided to put Kuroko's pins into the robber's jacket straight instead of in an x cross like in the manga, because it was somewhat clever idea the manga author came up with, which showcases kuroko's versatility and smart usage of her ability. If the pins are inserted in an x cross, it effectively stops the pinned down fabric from sliding up out of the pins, it's locked against the surface that it's pinned down to.
@cordz28, Kakine Teitoku is the #2 ranked level 5. His ability is known as "Unknown Matter". Basically he is able to create and control a substance that defies the laws of physics. He'll be making an appearance in the 3rd season of "To Aru Majutsu no Index".

The 2 seasons of anime got through a little more than 13 of those novels, so there is still quite a bit of material out there. I reckon he would be a match for Accelerator. p.s Misaka Mikoto fought Number 7 once (friendly match), and Number 7 was giving her a handicap, they ended up in a draw.
