    The human experience of just making it through the day, wanting the world to be better, and realizing all the contradictions in yourself and in others. And being basically okay with them. Or at least, having faith that it's all gonna work out. That last part is trickier some days than others.

    "Jagged Little Pill" is Alanis Morrisette's masterpiece... it's a great effort with a fantastic band behind her.

    • @punishedf
      @punishedf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I remember it was presented like some kind of emerging indie artist album, in reality it was highly produced with the music industry behind it, there was even Flea playing the bass.

    • @wadsworthaaron
      @wadsworthaaron 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@punishedf Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers) also played lead guitar on 1-2 tracks. It doesn't change that she wrote or co-wrote most of the songs & that there wasn't a "filler" track on the album.

    It's cool seeing Brad getting smitten with the 90's female artists that us dudes did back in the day. Was lucky enough to get tix from the radio station I worked with back then to see her at Taste of Chicago in Grant Park back in '95 for this tour. First time I saw Taylor Hawkins play live, as well. You may want to check out 'You Learn,' next.✌

    Her song "Thank You" is, for me, the best Alanis song there is....
    Early in her career, before this album, she was extremely pop-y... like, very 'radio-pop' driven tunes. Then a few years passed, and she came onto the scene with this album and had re-invented her image . This was the album that rocketed her into stardom, and with further albums, she gets even more deep and introspective, as her songs really tell the story of the world and events around her that shaped her into who she became.
    I never tire of her music.

    😀I was in my 20's when this CD was released. It was playing on the radio all the time. The video was shown on MTV at least once an hour it seemed. It was amazing to have experienced it. Another band to check out is 'Matchbox 20'. Their first CD had hit after hit. It's called 'Yourself or Someone Like You'. And the music videos were amazing. In the 90's also. 😀

    It's really nice to see you smile Brad. Highly recommend going back to the beginning of Alanis Morissette start to fame. Her hit song feel your love and then too hot which was number 10 on the top100 chart for 1991

    She was huge in the '90s and '00s. Very talented alt rock singer. Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters was the drummer for her back then for a little while. She was churning out hits after hits back then. I remember her on the radio and TV very often, won many awards, sold tons of records. She's an actress, too!
    Plus her her videos were unique and she had a bold attitude, great voice. Easy on the eyes , too. lol.

    This is why Jagged little pill was a monster of an album in the 90s. It got constant play on radio and mtv/vh1. Alanis was the white Lauren hill lol.

    I loved Jagged Little Pill. So funny that she started out with bubblegum/dance pop and then made it big with Alt-Rock. If you ever watch, How I met your mother, when they disclosed that Robin use to be a Canadian Pop Queen, they were directly mocking Alanis about that.

    An amazing singer/person. To answer Lex's question "is she even human?", well... you might have an answer to that by watching the movie "Dogma" 😉
    Should go for "All I Really Want"... you might get cramps by keepin' on smiling. And talking about smile, Brad... Brad! Your smile reminds me that even actuaries can be funny 😄 Keep up the good work guys, you are truly amazing!!

      "Dogma"! One of my favorite movies of all time. Yes, Alanis is a goddess. I don't even care much for Jay & Silent Bob movies, but "Dogma" has such great lines and very important messages, especially for today: " People kill for a belief! People die for a belief! [Instead,] why can't people just say 'I have an IDEA'?" There'd certainly be less wars.
