This song was written based on true events in her life. Written about her ex, Dave Coulier from Full House. If you really want to hear a depressingly haunting track, there is a hidden track that plays after the You Oughta Know (Alternate Version), at the end of the album. You can feel that she was truly, and fundamentally crushed by what he did. You don't have to react to it, but definitely check it out to get a very real look at her state of mind after their break up. 💔

Anyway, lesson being: Older men do younger females dirty. It’s now historical information that needs to be passed on to younger people so they don’t repeat the same mistakes.

Got letters as we were still together? Alanis just said what so many people think in their head! She is so beautiful and has the most amazing voice. Whole album is genius. You have to listen to more and this song you must watch the video to appreciate her more! Heard a few tunes on the radio but thats it. About 10 years after this came out a really gave her a listen. Chick is the real deal. She had a couple classic albums in the 90s. Paved the way for a lot of female performers. I am from her home town of Ottawa Ontario and have had a chance too bump in to her a couple times. She is a cool humble lady who showed nothing but respect in our interaction. Probably chatted for 15 minutes total but felt right at home. Was a pleasure meeting her. Cant say that about most musicians i have encountered.

Just thought that you should know that Alanis has sold over 75 million albums and received four Grammy awards for the album and song you just reacted to.
Jagged Little Pill is one of the most successful albums of the 1990s. In the US, debuted at No. 117 on the and peaked at No. 1 in October 1995, almost four months after it was released, remaining in that position for twelve weeks in total. It was the first album to reach both 12 million (in February 1997) and 13 million (in August 1998) in sales in the US since 1991, when Nielson Soundscan started tracking music sales. It was certified 16× Platinum for shipments of 16 million copies. Morissette held the record by the youngest artist to be certified diamond in the US, until she was beaten by Britney Spears with her debut album . On the week ending June 21, 2015, the album sold 5,000, bringing the sales to just over 15 million, making the album one of only three albums to have sold at least 15 million copies in the United States since Nielsen Music began tracking data in 199and a further 350,000 units through BMG Music Club. The album also peaked at No. 1 on the Canadian Album Chart, selling over two million copies, being certified 2× Diamond.
