you said something similar but one thing i like to differentiate is that the snowball effect are mostly closer related events, like dishes pulling up and then you accidentally break one, or not mowing the grass for a while and your dog has been getting more fleas
and the butterfly effect, although the events are connected, they’re not normally as relevant, or “more obviously” relevant
like for example you accidentally hit someone with a baseball, they quit baseball and study science, eventually cure cancer
baseball isn’t related to cancer but the events are just cause of the timeline
