  • A fantastic journey from Engelberg to Mount Titlis and back by cable cars. Unfortunately, often, the auto-focus camera focuses on the scratches on the cable car windows rather than on the outside scenes.
    Also, see • Jungfraujoch - A Ticke... for a video on Jungfraujoch.

    Was there in June of 1992. Remember hearing cow bells on the livestock in the fields below as I ascended in the cable car. Just beautiful !

    It takes about 45 minutes by cable car to reach the top, including the change-over at two places.

    I failed twice due to ice on a rocky plateau but this year when there has been sun I will make it all the way from Engelberg to the top. About 5 hours hike. I will then post the film on here as proof.

    Nice video. I would like to know which month did u go there...? also is it good to go during march...?

    • @VenugopalanCheriyaveettil
      @VenugopalanCheriyaveettil  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. The best months are from May to July when it is not too cold and there is sufficient snow. We went as part of a European tour in the first week of May. March may be alright but a bit more cold.

    Thanks for the nice video update. Could you please advise me on the following?
    1. Which month did you visit? I intended to go there around 30th July. Will there still be snow there?
    2. I am assuming the ticket rates shown on the sites (49 Euro for Swiss rail Pass holders)is the return fare and not one way fare.
    3. Are you allowed to carry food drinks with you in the cable car?

      Thank you.
      We visited in April. There will be snow on top round the year and July will not be an exception. The only thing is that while traveling, the altitude at which you will start seeing see snow may be higher and higher as you approach summer.
      I cannot say authoritatively about the train fare since our trip was organised by the travel agency.

    Hi, thanks for uploading.,I am travelling by mid of July, is there still some snow that time? Still I need to wear some thick clothing?.,thank you.,

    • @VenugopalanCheriyaveettil
      @VenugopalanCheriyaveettil  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      maureen baricuatro I can't say authoritatively. Generally, there is snow on Mt. Titlis all round the year. From the weather chart, I see that the minimum temperature would be around 0 deg. C and maximum of 12 deg. What would happen is that there may not be much snow on the lower parts of the mountain and therefore, skiing may be restricted only to the top region. You can probably carry a little less of warm clothing. Good to have sun glasses to protect against glare.

    Hi
    We are going in June first week, with kids 5+ and 8+ what type of shoe could you suggest and dressing specially for kids..

      metneu Something comfortable like Nike or Adidas jogging shoes, woolen socks, sweater, light inner thermals, wind cheater or jacket and woolen/leather gloves, monkey cap. You may not require all of the thermal wear since it may be a bit less cold in June. Good to have sun glasses since the combination of sunlight and snow can be quite dazzling.

    is it too cold

      @VenugopalanCheriyaveettil  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      April/May is a good time since it is relatively less cold and you can see lots of snow right from the foot of the mountain. However, you have to carry sufficient warm clothing and good shoes with grip since it can be very slippery on top, especially in the ice cave where the snow is hard.

      Hi, You can travel to Mt. Titlis and back from Zurich the same day. The distance from Zurich to Engeleberg is around 88 kms and would take you only an hour. If you want to stay closer to Mt.Titlis, you can consider Lucerne, a beautiful place and which is just 35 kms from Engelberg. Car appears to be the cheaper option for travel. As far as I know, no accommodation is available on top of Mt.Titlis.

      Since we travelled in a bus as part of a group, I am not too sure. But, I find from the net that you can get a train which would cost you about CHF 40. Taxi would cost around CHF 250.

    I am quite confused after looking into option to go to mount titlis. I will be staying in Interlaken so could you tell me
    1) It is possible to reach mt titlis just by train or I need ot take cable car
    2) When is the last train to return from there
    3) Shall we carry food or we can get vegetarian food in titlis
    4) Do we get snow over there
    5) is this trip need full day or I can cover some more along with this visit.
    Well I am very hapopy to see this video.

      Sorry, I somehow missed your query. If you haven't yet visited Mount Titlis, this reply might be helpful to you. Otherwise, someone else may benefit.
      1) There is no train directly to Mount Titlis, unlike Jungfaujoch.
      2) Does not apply.
      3) It may be a good idea to carry food though there are some restaurants on top. Alternately, if you start early, you can be back in the plains in the afternoon and have lunch somewhere else. That's what we did. We had lunch in in an Indian Restaurant in Lucerne which is not far from Mt.Titlis.
      4) Yes, you have snow round the year.
      5) It depends on what all you want to do. If you are planning skiing, then it may require the whole day. If it is only a visit, then half a day should be sufficient.
      Regards

      +Sandeep Shukla You get the train to Lucerne from Interlaken and change for the train to Engelberg. At Engelberg you walk to the cable car station (there is a new cable car now which means you can get to the top quicker.
